Travor I'm a older guy but love throwing and throw a lot of Lat 64 Rivers. I don't have the distance as the younger players but I am out there!!!
Rivers are great for slower arms like myself. It was my go to until the Brave, have you tried it?
Saints are pretty under stable and easy to throw. I think they are a 7 speed and they go a long ways.

The fission wave is also that 11 speed you can get in light weight and the new runs come out flippy with moderate arm speed for fun hyzerflip to turn.
As someone who currently has slower arm speed, I have found over stable drivers helpful in shorter distance utility situations, giving me some very reliable fade to get over or around something with confidence. Good video.
Terns for life. 375-400 power, nothing beats them. Tl3s for fairway distance and control although put the era back in my bag and that thing is so money. Can not wait for the gorgon

Star Valk can get insane distance in the right conditions. I like it on slight downhills as well for super long straight flights. I think it's often overlooked due to it being 4 glide, but it blows past my Passion almost every time.
Literally have a passion, era, and undertaker in my bag 😅 Recently started to recognize my arm speed is best with fairways they go about as far as my distance drivers, but I can control the fairways so much more. Era is so underrated, it’s becoming my go to. I lost my first one and had to get another!

I am a primary forehand thrower and I have absolutely fell in love with the innova mystere it's a 11 speed I have been playing for about 7 months now and can get it out consistently around 330-350 and if really pushed I can almost touch 400. I have tried the faster discs but 11 speeds feel the best to me. Thanks for the video

Great video. I use the streamline proton Drift as my main driver. I also use a Undertaker for forehand drives.
I'm in my sixties with mediocre arm speed. I can get 260 with max effort - even more with heat and wind assistance. I know I don't have the arm speed for it but, I get the most distance using a lighter beat-up star destroyer. I have larger hands and really like the larger rim. I release it as flat as I can and get the most out of it when I power a slight turn over before it finishes.
Good stuff as always. I love the passion, the scorch, leopard 3, mockingbird, and wild honey for these slots. Just got the PP drive and really enjoying that too
I’ve found the proto drive to be really nice too! For me it is best into a headwind. I give it a slight hyzer into a headwind and it goes for days.
I got a prototype drive and that thing is sometimes not my furthest flying in no wind. But into a little headwind I throw it on a slight hyzer and that thing bombs. Hyzer flip to a little turn before fighting back. Also been loving the fission wave lately!

Just got a millennium falcon from the subscription box. 2nd time throwing it, almost aced a 350 ft hole! I get a great full flight on it without putting my all into the throw, and I love it. I feel like I’m around the wraith/nuke SS range you described if that helps any!
I have a disability and as a result every shot is a stand still with very little from the lower body. This is a very helpful video for me. I’ve had good success with the diamond. A faster disc that’s worked well for me lately is the Mamba. Lots of glide and under stable.

Great video, a lot of great recommendations. I recommendd the Passion constantly to people. My farthest throwing disc atm is the Clash Wild Honey. It's an absolute bomber and I can push it 370-400'.
My max repeatable distance throw is a hyzer flip with a gold line Havoc from Lat64 at about 325’. I acquired it after it already had been slightly beat in and pretty much instantly I was able to hyzer flip it with ease like I can an understable midrange. It can be a little tricky if there’s a stiff headwind but on a calm day I love that disc!
Having breached 400' once, Wraiths are fun to throw. Also flippy Destroyers (Pro plastic). For an early throwable 13 speed I'd say L64 Bolt or Prodigy D6 Air are fairly easy to work out. Longest golf line basket park was with a River, around 350'. Rivers have sneaky distance.

I just got a Clash Vanilla and a Wild Honey. I am loving both of those. I have a slower arm but big hands, so I’ll have to try the Nuke SS.
The disc mania DD is also a surprisingly good" distance driver". I've been really impressed with the two that I have in my bag. I can flip them over. I can hyzer flip them. I get full flight. It's a great disc.
if you're talking to new throwers I think it's important to talk about another flight characteristic: The RANGE of speed that it pushes straight. It seems like some understable discs are either turning left or right with no straight part of the flight meaning maybe only a 1 or 2 MPH window when it's going straight. Some other discs, (I'm talking about you Crave, Rhythm, TL3, or Teebird, or for drivers, flat top wraith, flat top sword) seem to have an extended portion of flight that is straight meaning maybe the window of straightness could be 10-15MPH. This is a bigger deal than most realize. Yes, for a new thrower, you can potentially throw further with a very understable disc but the tradeoff is having a huge reckless landing area. Straighter discs go very far and are more predictable where they'll land, especially for new throwers who haven't mastered arm speed control yet, there's a wider range of speed where they'll go straight.
The Underworld seems to go straight for quite awhile before getting a late turn

i’ve been playing for a few months but my aftermath driver 13/5/-2/3 is still my fav, it just goes so straight and so far. me like big number too
I have a few staples in my bag. I love the Crave (6.5, 5, -1, 1) from MVP for shots that need a little more distance than a midrance, but not quite a full throw from a fairway driver. I bag both the Wraith and Grace as the Grace is my max distance disc being a little more flippy than the wraith, but the wraith is my controlled distance disc. Another disc I am falling in love with is the MVP Wave (11, 5, -2, 2) for Hyzer flip shots.
I’m right around the 400 mark. In that second to last category I like the enigma. Not a super huge rim so still feels nice in the hand and I found they generally have slight flip up out of the box and beat in to a really nice distance driver for my arm speed. Innova wraith was my first love of that slot though 👍

destroyer is my baby. I, too, fell into that trap of faster means farther. but I grew into it. the wraith, beast, scorch, and sapphire are all amazing discs to.
The wave and sheriff are my go to bombers. The wave I do need a tail wind to prevent it flipping. The passion has always been one of my favorites tho. The sheriff I have hit 425 multiple times and just overall can trust it to do what it’s supposed to.
I like the Emperor for the people in that 350-400 speed category (aka me, ha). It's a "flippy" Destroyer. Easy to throw golf lines. G-blend beats in real quick if you can find it and it's the one disc I can get over 400. Halo S-blend is a good overstable version too.

Well done video, never knew about the Era. Here is pure fun, and it can bomb on the right angle: 130 gram ultralight Gateway Spear on steep 30 degree hyzer. My grandson's driver and I threw it on a lark, and bought two the next day from the Gateway factory store ! Your big cruise angle may differ. Can do the same steep hyzer bomb with a Dx Mamba under 140. The Dino Disc Pterodactyl was pretty cool too (124 g). Not giving up my Wraith and Sidewinder just yet, but on a calmer day these flyweights can sail like a dream when you dial your own angle.
I agree, most people don’t need more than a wraith. My wraiths go about as far as my d1, just over 400
It's funny, when I used to throw a little shorter, a Shryke (13) was my go-to, but now I throw further and only bag a Wraith (11) as my max and often can get really close (on flat) with a Thunderbird (9) if it hit it just right. All fairly stable/neutral discs, though, in that a better player could put them on all angles.
Would love a review of the full Viking disc line or the barbarian specifically, love their premium plastic

Test different discs when moving up in speed, like the Ballista (not Pro) have been my furthest flyer since I broke 300' with any disc ever, it's shape is great for me getting the nose down compared to other discs, for example the Grace is more stable/diffcult for me to push 340' than the Ballista 360'. If it feels good the extra speed won't destroy the accaurcy as much. Confidence and trust is good stuff ^_^

I think another great pick for intermediate arm speed is the kataplast falk. it beats in to a hyzer flip bomb with insane glide
JL from our channel just like Trevor I hit 400 every so often and for me the stag in ViP plastic just goes. Late flip to get the full flight and makes it easy to get distance. Beginner disc that I recommend to kids and older players is the underworld. Sounds like I throw tons of house of discs but those are pretty much my only ones from trilogy. I also love the Nuke SS like Trevor says it crushes with an easy flip
on solid hyzer with a xstep on flat ground in 15mph tailwind i got the Star Corvette from Innova to roughly 600ft give or take 5ft
After my first season playing I began getting frustrated because I felt like I was starting to move backwards.
The first winter/off season I had I decided to only throw an undertake the entire winter. That’s it.
Came into the next season throwing super smooth and consistent and some of the best golf I’ve played.
Star Wraith is my go to
A List of discs from Trilogy that have flown far for me as a beginner with little effort: Warship, Maul, River, Diamond, Saint, Bolt, Lucid air Captain. If the wind picks up, I can step up to the Jade or the Sapphire. I can not stress the impact that weight has on a disc. The lightweight Captain became almost a roller disc for me in headwind, but a regular captain I use when the wind really picks up and I need something I know will not flip over for me.
Proton Axiom Vanish (167g). I have one that lived in the woods for a while, and it's still more stable than you'd expect for its 11/5/-3/2 flight numbers.
Nuke ss is my go to for distance in non windy. Reg nukes are nasty when they beat in as well.
I really would like to see you try an Innova Charger, definitely the farthest flying disc in my bag and would love to see what you could do with it cause I think it would fit your game really well.
Shark is my absolute go to predictable disc on short holes. My first two Ace's were sharks.
138g Blizzard Katana is the first distance driver I bought. Big mistake, one year later, I can finally get it to fly. I would suggest a Blizzard Destroyer in whatever weight you can handle.
My photon was a beefcake. I would say the wave is great for someone hovering around 340-350.
Trevor I would love to see you compare the opto ice orbit river with the passion. Additionally, the Athena and Brave are amazing. For a big speed driver have you tried the Lat64 Havoc (recommend in Opto plastic), very flippy 13 speed that is incredibly comfortable in the hand.

11,6,-.5,2 are the numbers. Probably closer to a 3 fade. This disc is awesome and flies forever.
My go to disc is the Stag!! It has a perfect S turn and you can lay into it. Also my recommendation for you to fill that shark void is the Mint Mustang(apex plastic).
I'm a Stag bagger as well, two of them. I traded a guy for an older Opto X run that has just a smidge a turn and a good finish. Most of the time I'm just using a stock VIP and I'm just always shocked it goes as far as my distance drivers, it's pretty routine to get out to 330-360ft. One of my most common uses is downhill shots, it will go so far and straight downhill.
I like that Latitude 64 provides discs that are designed for player progression in this category: start with the Diamond, then move up to the Jade, then to the Sapphire. I guess the Grace would be the next in that progression although I never clicked with the Grace. I've moved on from these now, but they were awesome for developing my game in the first 18 months of throwing.
Hey mate. You ever throw the cnc from protoflyte? It’s my go to distance machine. They’ve got 3 models the + the - and the neutral. I use the neutral. Haven’t tried the + (overstable) or the - (understable) but I get mine to about 420 on a good day. It’s technically a 13 speed I believe. But it really slays for me.
I would like to recommend the doomsday blackout it's a flippy 8 speed that will go 400 foot. Also the doomsday cataclysm, it's a flippy 11 speed that flies far and will hold a long anhyzer line.
Would be cool to see you grab a variety of discs from each brand and showcase their flights and how you would approach each one as a beginner.
I got my mother into disc golf and she uses a 160 gram fission axiom insanity for her driver and it has worked amazing for her.
I’ve been playing for 3 years and have more discs than you would ever need. I recently capped my disc speed to 11. Refocusing on technique rather than powering through.

I find myself running Avenger SS, Surge SS and sometimes a Heat to get my best distance.
My furthest flying disc is an MVP fission wave! I can get that things out to 370-390. I have yet to hit the 400 mark though. For context I mostly throw on flat to anheizer (leaning more towards the Anni)
Innova Tern is one of the best max distance divers. Even for beginners. It's a game changer, I promise you!
If you’ve not tried an Axiom Mayhem in Plasma…totally worth it. My almost 42 year old arm is putting it out to 450’ on a good rip.
For the Innova Wraith alternative, Infinite discs Czar could work for some people.
Level 1: F7, Streamline Ascend
Level 2: Crave, River
Level 3: Fission Wave, Honey, Shryke
Level 4: I wouldn't know 😢
Innova Beast and Valkyrie, Lat 64 Saint, DD Escape are all good drivers for someone wanting to move up from a fairway like River/Leopard/Teebird/Explorer/etc. Not too stable and fairly easy distance. Then, if you’re getting consistent with those, move on to the Wraiths and Graces.
Trevor, excellent video for beginners who are trying to find the right distance driver. I do think, however, that discussing headwinds and tailwinds needs to be part of this conversation since the flight of a disc is not really arm speed, but air speed. A person with a 60 mile an hour arm speed throwing into a 20 mile an hour headwind now has an 80 mile an hour airspeed and a different disc would be required. Just a thought. I enjoyed the video just the same.
You know for a guy about to hit 40 in a couple years and I have a noodle arm any way. The discmania essence, DD, and the enigma work great for me. But one that has never left my bag since I bought my first one is the mamba!
Sounds weird but when I started out I found myself throwing my arm more than my disc, ya bad form yadada. It wasn't until I got a heavier disc that I could focus on moving the weight of the disc and that really helped

Lightweight Discraft CRANK is my max distance driver, people always forget that disc exists.
Leopard into diamond for sure. I still have a diamond in my bag even though I know it might roll at any point. I’ve been playing for almost 11 months, so I’m starting to work in some more stable drivers. I’m in the 10/5/-1/2 stage. Been really loving the Thoughtspace Construct, but mostly Doomsday Cataclysm. (But I’m a big doomsday fan, and they really go heavy one way or another) but also shoutout Missy’s USWDGC undertaker, because the stamp is sick and it flys pretty good even for my weak ass.
My Grace is way more over stable than my wraith. Both premium plastic same weight. I like the MVP Wave as a flippier option to the Wraith.
i turn my firebird and destroyer on hyzer and they turnover into rollers immediately when thrown at max power. but at a slower speed (full flight) they dont go past 300ft. probably due to the amount of spin/torque compared to power. what discs would suit me the best for distance in that case?
My max recorded drive was with a wraith- 462ft
As someone who averages 470’ and maxed out 2 days ago around 532’ I can say faster more over stable discs fly much better and further when beat to the stability of intermediate arm speed discs
a beat in Star Invictus would be ideal for intermediate players its under stable for me now but when i was intermediate it was perfectly neutral

With the advent of robotic throwing devices, what would be an intuitive redesign of the disc flight number system?
I think Discraft old system was pretty close. Just one number, with "0" being a stable disc which means when you throw it flat it goes mostly straight. The range could be from -5 to +5. Then for speed, maybe just a measurement. 2.0cm is a 10 speed so it's pretty easy to understand, example 1.8cm is 8 speed, 2.2cm is 12 speed, 1.4cm is 4 speed.
Latitude64’s easy-to-throw series and zero-gravity series are game-changers for young and older players with slow arm speed.
The undertaker gave me 300 before any other disc. Lately my favorite distance disc has been a light weight Sapphire though.

The diamond is a great discs. I'm a relatively new player, and the diamond helped me understand hyzer flip to turn shots. Just lost it though RIP
I have two 😊. I found the Stag is a good step up from the Diamond, it's a super similar feel and has some turn once you hit that 300ft mark.

Yes, disc speed isnt everything! Ive been playing for quite a few years, and have fallen inlove with a scorch since it was released, and i have 3/4 in my bag at all times. Mold minimalization, and realizing i dont need more than the 11 speed to get what i need done!
So... I get better distance with 12 speeds than with 8. My 8 goes 280 my 12 goes 320.
Am I doing it wrong?
