    These were developed to burn indoors, btw. A little ventilation is recommended. Crack a window, you’re fine. Most tents aren’t air-tight enough to worry about ventilation. Still, I would have to be pretty cold and in a good size tent to have one of these fireballs inside.
    I tossed my coat on the floor once without realizing it landed right on the heater. (I was exhausted) Wasted the coat in seconds. Damn good thing I noticed it when I did! 💀

      Yeah, their safe when used with a detector, but their not idiot proof for that you’ll need a Buddy heater

    Thank you for posting this! I picked up a 513a in great shape from goodwill for a few bucks. It has instructions, but its nice to watch someone else do it first lol. This 513a says in the instructions to get about a half dollar spot of fuel on the (Mantle? Catalyst?) so basically the same. Did yours have an adjustment lever? Mine has one with a 'start' position and I was wondering how long i should leave it in the start position if anyone knows. Im enamored with this little heater. Its beautifully simple, just gotta remember that that means I am the safety feature lol.

    I have one of these it’s not Coleman, doesn’t have a brand name on it but actually can be used as a stove with the supports on it. They are really nice little heaters, I think the one I have should have had some sort of cover that went on it too, maybe not 🤷🏼‍♀️.
    I have only lit it a couple times and it did seem to work good, definitely need ventilation and extreme caution when using I would think.
    Catching up on a video from your vintage vault 😉🤗

    To be specific, we did not light the heater on the boat (not at all suggested) be brought it on the boat well after burn in to warm the cab with the door open.

    I like to use a baseball size wet spot and dead center , that is all that you technically need however the stove has gone out prematurely if the spot it too small.

    Thanks for the video-I have a similar heater and wanted to make sure I’m using it properly--you panned the camera off your boat too fast!! What kind is it? I’ve been looking for a hardtop enclosed cabin, and not easy to find..
    Thanks again-I’ll look through your other videos and see if there is one detailing your boat.

      Yes people absolutely do , my experience with the ones I have picked up , they smell , I wouldn't in the house but I run them in shop all the time , its funny they dont work well it open spaces for me unles you hover over them , , but they will sweat you out in an enclosed space right quick ! Haaahaaa , thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it , Take care and have a super week ok 👍

    I have one, it works well, but the fumes that come off it makes it useless in any area small enough that it would actually heat.

    • @doinsngoins
      @doinsngoins  3 роки тому +1

      I noticed that is says a drop the size of a quarter is all it takes , my experience is different, you want a good healthy burn over the entire area , it should put off enough heat to draw up not only enough fuel from the tank onece its hot but to also burn it off good otherwise it stinks unbearably, Check this out!

    My heater is almost exactly the same. The difference is it has a screw on the filler cap... I'm guessing for a vent. I've played with it a little and not sure if it actually affects the unit. Do you know of such a variation, and what the purpose is?

      Same , I do recall seeing one apart, and, quite frankly, it looked very easy to restore. I have not been impressed with them , I also heard you could burn up old fuel in one, and that's not my experience as I tried and failed. Your experience is basically the same as mine and they really stink . Thanks for the feedback, I will send you the link if I can find it in my history ok 👍 have a great Friday ok !

    • @srosenow98
      @srosenow98 10 місяців тому

      Not on these. Unleaded fuel will gum up the wicks and damage the catalyst. That is why Coleman specifically states to use white gas - and white gas only - on these.

  • @doinsngoins
    @doinsngoins  3 роки тому

    People use these in a tent... , I wouldn't as it would be way too easy to accidentally set or toss a combustible item onto it , in the boat we had a fire Extinguisher on hand .
