I've never heard "canasta" and we always called the clean group a "red book" and the dirty group a "black book" (although your names for it are more fun). We also play that 3s are bad - you can't lay them down, and you lose a lot of points if you're caught with them in your hand at the end

These are basically the exact rules to a game in Italian culture called Buraco!! The rules are pretty much identical, and a "buraco" is the equivalent to a "canasta"!
When you win, how do you get rid of your cards if you have lots of cards left in your hand, do you have to get rid of them before playing your winning card?
So I like that way but we play Kanasta separately than Hand and Foot. We either play with 4 people or 6 people and there’s 2 teams. You have to have 2 cleans and one dirty to go out. You can discard your last card on your hand and go into your foot but your last card of your foot has to play to go out. Black and red 3’s are bad and cost you points in the end. There’s a lot more I can explain but it’s a lot lol!

We play cards a lot. We play Phase 10, UNO, a game called Shit on your Neighbor I think it’s made up, kinda like UNO in a way. We also play a game called Play Nine. It’s fun.
