- Back in March, we got a break in the weather and took a whole pack of working dogs to the feed lot. We caught over 120 rats! Neela did so well. I am so proud of her and the progress she has made as she hones her skill at being a very effective rat hunting dog.
When I first got there I got a flat tire on my car which I changed right away and so I didn't get a chance to film an intro. As you will see Neela is already pretty dirty in the intro, which we filmed about half way through the hunt.

honestly, Neela is a powerhouse of a dog in that little tiny body. what a little superdog
Neela is a 1 in a million kind of dog; a real underdog!
o0Avalon0o And listens really well too!
Ouch! Poor Neela! That took guts to keep after that mean rat!
True grit!
I think this is my favorite of your videos so far. Neela sure is a tough little hunter!
Yeah
I loved watching Neela walking down the alley wagging her butt at 17:40. Hehehe!
Great video Matt! Neat to see your Dad! Thanks so much!
I knew Jersey got more than I had seen in other videos. He was funny to watch that day.
I know Buttercup got a few more too! I bet you gave Buttercup a good bath afterwards!
@@matthewsminkmanor9926 Oh yeah! She got her usual princess treatment once she got home. A proper bubbly bath and various aromatic oils were applied. ;)
@@chuckkimber2773 lol!
Well Jersey is a she lol. Good hunt. Even if she is a rat thief lol.
And, I love your Dad! You are so lucky to still have him! I lost both my parents when I was quite young.
Sorry to hear that. Dad had a great time watching the hunt. It brought him back to the days when he would hunt rats along the canals in his neighborhood with a lab named Queenie.
I know this video was a little longer than most. It was a long day with so much action I had a hard time cutting out too much. If anyone is interested in something more than 1 hour, let me know. There is so much "behind the scenes" footage I have to cut out. However, I personally enjoy watching those to relive the hunt. I could easily make an "editor's" cut with all sorts of extra scenes.
Thats a goos idea for a video
I definitely don't mind the length! Love watching the rat hunt videos especially with Neela in them.
Neela is small yet so deadly I like her a lot! Keep it up with the videos mattew!
3:43 The way she gets the rat like been frustrated to let some to the other dogs before. She's like a rocket targeted to the rat.
She loves it, that is for sure!
I would love to see Neela’s post ratting Beauty routine-how she gets her fur back to whiter then white! I am sure you have been banned from the Pet Smart groomers!! LOL-thanks for the video
A good scrub down in the tub. She really got dirty on that trip. Smelled like a cow patty. LOL!
I second that! Neela's beauty bath after the hunt.
Good content my guy
The cows are like do carry on we’re loving it lol
LOL! The cows are always funny.
great video a real treat to watch
This is awesome
Jersey is such a rat thief! lol Buttercup is so adorable too!
Buttercup was awesome! Jersey just needs more time with other dogs and a training collar on a few trips.
Everyone SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON ! Give Neela and Matthew some love!
I love all the dogs! But I gotta say Neela is my favorite!!!🐶❤️ get a P.O. Box so we can send Neela some gifts.
Молодцы. Хорошие собаки . И люди.
Вот на кого собак надо натаскивать!
Ole Jersey the rat thief. She sure loves to chase critters. Any critter. I'm sure glad I kept that little mutt lol
I was super impressed with her!
So grace and glory to all your team, or at least those worth mentioning, such as yourself, Neela and your father 22:52
8:33 Poor Neela got ran over by the other dogs. I just love Neela. She's such an awesome little dog. Love Boss too.
She's such a good little dog!
Hi neela. So happy to find this video. Love you, neela. Superfan here!
Neela is still one of the best!
amen
Thank you!
3:37 Neela's awesome special move! lol
ha ha. I should have done a "Bathing Neela after the hunt" video. She was not pleasant driving home with.. Pee Yoo!
@@matthewsminkmanor9926 LOL, I bet! Considering she's practically rolling in manure.
If you have a "Team Neela" hoodie made I'll buy one! ...just saying 😉
Just wanted to send ya some internet love. Thanks for the vid I put a thumbs up for ya. Keep it up!
👌👽👌 very nice work! Way better than pesticides
Wonderful dogs.....i hope u can have the in sweden 🙂
Aww! Poor Neela getting bit by those darn rats! Otherwise, great footage!
It happens so often. That is why they shake them. Neela is learning to catch the rat in the right spot in order to NOT get bit.
True, you can tell she loves ratting!
I agree. It hurts to see her bleeding but she's a tough cookie!
I rescued a Jack Russell/West Highland mix so I looked up terrier videos and just found you and Neela. Can't believe I'm actually watching ratting vids, but I love seeing dogs do the job they are bred to do and helping us humans. I'd bet my girl would just love to catch her some rats! One question though, why do you cage the live ones?
We use the live ones for training or for reptile food.
Look in your area for a working terriers club.
I love the fact that you tell how much that number of rats can eat but you forget to do the math those rats could have had at least that same number of young and there young could double it is a staggering number when you think about it and you left out the fact when dogs are used to control the rats position dose not have to be used therefore it is not in the food supply the all of our children eat thank you so much to all of you for the valuable work or fun you all do
Is it just me or is she losing weight?? Great job Neela. Love seeing how good she's gotten at ratting!
She is getting in better shape. Time for another hair cut for Summer.
Get-m - get'm - get'm !!!!!!
All the coconuts the cows don't eat. Neela wasn't the smallest dog today.
It was exciting to see that little terrier, Buttercup, working so hard. Cows wont eat the following according to the farm hand: Coconuts, limes and lemons and other citrus fruits.
18:42 who's gonna get it!!!!! They were all amazing, but I'm team Neela, she is my favorite
Aww Hello Alan The King of the dog killing rat 🐀 series. ❤💖
19:54 Poor Neela I feel kind of sad for her, when she whinnes, she get bite by tricky rats that she caught, but I still hope that it's fine. She is actually a pretty good Jack Russell terrier.
all the dogs will get bit from time to time, but they learn to handle the rats so they avoid bites.
@@matthewsminkmanor9926 You're right, man. I also have a dog at home, but it's not a terrier, it's a german sheepyard, and I would like to train it to do some real mouse hunt, because i don't have rat infestation in my backyard, only mice infestation pest, but very rarely, especially in winter season.
I learned Something about hunting and about the american mink from Joseph's UA-cam Channel. I watched more of his videos a lot.
Had a dog like neela. He helped me kill snakes, mice, and moles. Forget him giving you the mole though. That was his favorite. Picked stickers out of the kids. Miss that dog.
Thanks for sharing...
Hey Matthew what are those brown round things? They kinda look like a coconut. 🥥🤔
Neela you make sure you bite their faces off. Pretty little baby girl.
3:50 that cow says "No messing with Neela, I am out of here!"
Go neela x
What do you do with the rats once killed and caught? Fertilizer? Simple burial?
We don't waste any of the rat carcasses. We use them for mink food.
WOW!!!! I have a lot to learn. :)
Mink maybe uncomfortable in temperatures over 80 degrees F (27°C), and can experience severe heat-related medical problems if the weather is over 90°F. Always keep a bucket of cool water and try to schedule events in the morning hours or late evening and not in the hottes part of the day.
I do. thanks for mentioning this in the comments so others will know.
SPOILER ALERT: so, this was Buttercup's introduction. I saw much more recent films first, where her name became Buttercup 'The Rat Assassin' so awesome did she become
Yup. Buttercup is fierce! Neela turns 13 this year.
lone Neela!
She's a good ratter. Joseph calls her Yoda since she is small and patient. lol
May I ask you if you and Joseph are LDS? I served in Salt Lake City South Utah.
Yes.
Neela hates rats so much she may be part cat.
I think she hates them more than a cat...
Can you please do a video showing a cairn terrier ratting? If you got time, thanks!!
Sorry, We don't have any Cairn terriers.
@@matthewsminkmanor9926 Well can you make a video thats set in Area51.. to show a Rottweiler wearing a blonde wig and pink polkadot tutu, riding on the back of a Zebra, maybe train a few Chimps to play fiddles at the same time .. Cheers
is that the Rockies? in the back ground
Yes, Wasatch Mountains
What's with the red rats?
Hi a good rat is a dinner for butter cup 😘😘😎
she's a terror on them. On her first hunting trip, she definitely showed she was bred to hunt!
Go Neela, shes an awesome hunter. Do the rat bites ever get infected? I really felt for Neela getting two mean bites.
The bites have never got I infected and she heals up in a day or two.
Create where your dogs drop the rat in the bucket and 1 reward drops down. Very attentive animals.
Joe's dog is really good at that. She is SO smart.
#Matthewsminkmanor my hearts 💔 I hope Neela is OK. I know this was awhile ago but I hate it. Her cute little face getting bit by them dirty rats 🐀.
Let her get her kills in. They bit her let her over kill. Lol..
Мила, сука автора видео - прекраснейшая рабочая собака.
Пусть не всегда ей удавалось избежать крысиных зубов, но дичь она не бросала, а продолжала давить.
Хорошая сука!
why keep some of the rats alive?
Training the mink and feeding to reptiles.
Matthew look at this and share your thoughts dogoftheday.com/archive/2016/July/26.html
Ok... Guess she doesn't mind a little yuck while rating!
The dogs are good hunters, but the farm is a mess
It gets that way in early spring. We haven't hunted there for over a year. Most of the rats are gone now.
I think it's dangerous for the dog and an outright stupid move to have the leash stay on while they're working. They won't run away!!!
We don't always keep a leash on them. Only when we are moving the heavy concrete. We don't want a dog to get mashed in the concrete slipped off the loader. Get the idea?
@@matthewsminkmanor9926 Okay. Sometimes it looks like they could be choking.
