Finnaly, we rushed to pounded some baba before the Chinese New Year. Besides from giving them as greetings to my grandma, we also eat them at home. Babas can be steamed, grilled or deep-fried........The most traditional way is to make a pot of soup with the best ingredients we have: ham, sausage, blood sausage, egg, fava beans, pea sprout, etc. Put baba slices into the soup and you will have a whole bowl of great festive feelings.

I'm from Northern Indian village and we celebrate a festival on the occasion rice crop cutting. In that festival we took that new rice to ground and make a dough by using hot water and by using that dough we make round shaped as like you and fry them into hot oil named "Poori" and firstly we put them in front of God to start the festival 😊 We all are from different zone but sometimes having the similar food habits which connects us by heart ❤️❤️

In Japan, we have similar food called "mochi". We make them for new year too. Used for decorations for new years with mandarin orange, bake it on top & eat it with sugar soy sauce etc., and put in new years soup called "ozouni". It's interesting to know that asian countries have similar food. I really enjoy your videos.

I remember my aunt used sticky rice for this...I'm from Nagaland (northeast India)...my aunt would soak the sticky rice overnight and pound it the next day...she would then make it into small cookies (on 31st Dec evening).I was always the one from my family to distribute the cookies to family and friends on new year mornings😁it was such a blessed,happy new year for us..
But these days,nobody follows that kind of tradition...or maybe somebody still does who knows...

Today I tried dried rice cake slices for the first time. I had bought them to give them a try after seeing this video. They were delicious. I pan-fried them without any fat, just making them crunchy and then put them in a tomato soup, it was better than any noodle could have been. These rice cakes will become a staple in my pantry from now on. Next time I try just cutting them in strips and adding them to a noodle soup as noodle replacement.

That watermill machine is astonishing. In Indonesia we have similar food that goes by the name uli/ulen/jadah/tetel/lemang/gemblong/etc depending on the area. It made from sticky rice, and we add some coconut milk, grated coconut, and salt to make it more flavourful. It can be eaten with coconut flakes, floss, oncom, peanut sauce etc. It also can be fried, grilled, dipped in the fermented rice tapai, you name it. But it still amazing seeing you making some tortillas and noodles from it. Btw, there's a worrying news about Coronavirus's outbreak. Hope you and your whole family always stay safe and healthy.
