- A full in depth tour of a 1998 prelude 5 spd will be coming within the next 2 weeks or so. In continuation of my "Short Takes" video series at All City Auto, I give a tour of a 1999 honda prelude. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle.

I bought a 1997 red Prelude for about 2,500 dollars. In mint condition everything works and also came with 2 subwoofers in the trunk and Sony Xplod sound system and stereo...
call me a weirdo but I really like how early 2000 Honda seats look

I had the same model and color of Prelude but with the 5 spd manual and the factory rear spoiler. Great car.

I've never been a fan of most Hondas but for some reason I've always had a BIG soft spot for the Prelude.

Is this the 4WS (4-wheel-steer) version? I used to drive one of those a couple of years ago, could do a 180 degree turn on a penny :D

Great review.This is a real Japan made Honda.Japanese desing , 2.2 engine with 200 HP , 4-SPEED Automatic transmission with SEQUENTIAL SPORTSHIFT and all that in 1999.
Now Honda its more american than ford and chevy together.SAD.
@saabkyle04 It never ceases to amaze me how you always find a great song on the radio in every video. 1 question, Doesn't this car have the same Engine as the Accord Coupe? It's like they have 2 of the exact same car with a different body. I never understood that.

Could you do a video of a 4th gen if you ever come across one? I at least think it's one of the prettiest cars from the 90's and I usually don't like Japanese styling.
i own a 99 just like it, but in milano red. It's really fun to drive.

@strumem90 Case in point, I own a 1998 plymouth breeze, and my sister owns a 2008 Dodge Avenger. the Breeze is LIGHTYEARS ahead of the Avenger in terms of content, Interior Design, Visibility, and Comfort.

oouuhh, that valve cover needs some love....
maybe for the older ones, but ik that the 5th gen was a 2 door, and the trunk is a true trunk not a hatchback meaning the back window doesnt lift up with the truck lid

i'm surprised this 1999 Honda has manual shift while many newer Acuras don't. My brother's 2006 MDX doesn't have it and the 3.5RLs made up to 2004 didn't have it. I've never actually driven an automatic car with manual shift, but it seems like it would be cool to have the best of both worlds.
What's a better car altogether, this or a 7th Gen (2000-2005) Toyota Celica GT-S?

actually tip tronic on this car is fine. Honda had transmission problems with ALL their cars from 98-2002. There was a big fiasco over it. Just find a prelude that hasn't been abused and use Honda transmission fluid and you should be fine with the auto.

i didnt notice if you mentioned about the steering? most Preludes are 4 wheel steer, i have the 1991 model, goes like a cat on carpet through corners. thats about the only reason i wanted one.

Why you hating on a 4-speed I got a 00 Prelude 4spd Auto with 66k and its lovely. Who ever talk garbage about the Prelude 4spd dont know the NAME PRELUDE. Honda put all there new technolgy in Prelude from 4 wheel steer to Sports Shift Find me another car that had that in 97 no one not even a BMW.

The automatic is fine. But all automatics make cars seem a little slower, Honda tried to remedy that with the sportshift.

same here lol I wasted my money on the car I have now but am thinking about saving up again. Anyone who works at fast food can save up 4 months of pay and pick up a top clean prelude from these era's.My dream car is the 1991 prelude Si's those are pretty pricey .

Honda shouldve discontinued the accord coupe and kept the prelude as the 2 door car. It wouldve been the perfect lineup of cars
Too bad Honda did a shitty job on the 5th gen Honda Prelude transmission that goes bad pretty much every 30,000K miles. Only get a manual Prelude if it's a 97-01.
I own same car but way nicer and sport shift auto is way fast then stick I have owned both and love my automatic sport shift
my dad had this car. not this year i think it was an 86 not positive though. it was manual and i miss that car to death!!!! :/

What is a point of putting an aftermarket radio in the car other than for an ipod dock or CD changer? They always look terrible, don't match the interior, and they have tiny little buttons.
