A few months ago you added fish into the tank , you acclimated then poured the bag into your tank . Some fish stores run copper in their fish systems . You may have added copper to the system that way
10% - 20% water change every other day for 2 weeks after you make sure your rodi water is pure (change the filters if it's been a while), also run activated carbon to get rid of the copper. After 2 weeks retest for copper.
Solid plan, will put carbon reactor online and start with some water changes 👍 every other day may be ambitious for my current schedule but will at least shoot for once a week 😅😅
Always enjoy watching your videos man! No scrippted and natural feel is the way to go. Treating my DT with copper right now and removing in a little over a week so got a few Poly Filters as well. Congrats on the new addition to your family and thanks for sharing!
Check all your power leads for exposed wire or broken down rubber/insulation. Also you can pull screws like that with a pair of vice grips, just latch them on and turn it out.
Bro just get a pair of pliers get a good grip on the screw and turn it counterclockwise. No need for sawing. Channel locks work really well too. Good luck.
Do you use ro water maybe it is coming from the make up water . Because you can get those types of metal from tap water if not filtered because of the house plumbing. I would get the tap water tested and if you are using an ro check the water coming out to make sure you don’t have anything coming out of there.
Cool setup man, liked being able to see your sump/refugium. You wouldn't happen to live near the Maryland region and know about frag swaps and such that happen nearby would you? I've tried looking some up but, Having a hard time finding stuff on the interwebs.
If you put the screw in and striped the screw head and your sump was underneath that might explain the zinc because the pieces you strip out of the screw head would have went into your sump. I don't see that much rust on the screw to see if would have dropped that much rust if at any into the tank. Copper is another thing I would say it's from your plumbing in the house. The ceramic magnets I would still say has metals in them to well make em magnetic. Glad your wrasse is back my pintail just disappeared so I hope to have the same luck you did with yours
Amazing video as always 😍 and with a new baby your a hero! I have just started my UA-cam channel and can really appreciate your hard work. Thanks for sharing!
Bro I am going through the same thing with my tank. Kryptonite started receding as well as some other coral deaths. Removed the emerald crabs as well and just added some cuprisorb(I think that’s how you spell it) too because the kryptonite still has not recovered. Best of luck man hope we finally found the culprit.
ah I tried ot in my refuge the inlet will get clogged alot and often, if you can rig it in a cleaner area of sump you'll have one less problem. pops!!! congrats
Hi Innapropriate reefer! I hope u, Emily& baby son are all alright!! 😀 you know the music that plays in the background in your videos, who is the artist please?? 😀👍
People dose copper for treading ick and it is bad for corals. U get rid of it by running carbon. Also i dont think any kind of metal or rust can raise copper level in the water
The Zoa Tank BOYZ are huge fans of both you and Mighty Nano tank!!!! We can’t get enough of you guys!!! It would be so awesome if you can checkout the Zoa Tank BOYZ youtube!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
Did u filter / sift the sand with a magnet etc ? I had this piece that looked like a old bent nail when I did mine . Coukdnt believe it ! Was figi live sand too the expensive stuff . Get a pair of plumbing plyers on the screw and wind it out . Lovely tank mate
Love your content man. Just a heads up. If you have elevated copper I'm pretty certain it wasn't from that screw. Obviously still a great idea to get rid of it but if I had to guess I would say that a wire has split somewhere and may be leaching copper from there. Best of luck with it though. Tank looks great still!
The ug looking unit is micro grams so it is pretty small. I’m in physics right now so we just learned it😂. Also, because I have a mixed reef I always run carbon. I had a leather that killed my acro one time because of chemicals so now I always run it

Congrats on your new born son! Your life has just changed!
Rust is iron Oxide. Not involving copper or zinc. Your copper is from something else or your Home Depot magnets are leeching zinc.
Bet that's it

A pair of ViseGrip pliers will take that screw out in n o time.
You might be “Inappropriate” at Times...
But your the man with the plan when it comes to the Appropriate Levels in the Tank!
I pulled out a 13"x13"x10" Birdsnest colony last year and the Alk went up 1.5 dKH over night.
It’s dark brown. Maybe your heater is leaching something into the tank and use a pair of channel locks to get that screw out.
Joe's Reef agreed. Check the heater.
did it come in the water or how did it happen
That Amazon return pump you have has a metal prop shaft that may be rusting as well as the magnets inside of the pump could be corrroding.

Good idea, ICP tested the RODI water and it was OK! Came from somewhere else!
What were the levels of copper?
Can I make a fish tank from an old school terrarium made from brass end copper? (the brass and copper holds the glass together)
First love the channel

Well I have to check out your channel now...!
Haha don't judge me to harshly 😂😂😂
Copper and zinc are used in guitar strings. Are you doing tank maintenance after playing? Not sure if transfer this way is even plausible.
Interesting idea actually, although I haven’t touched that guitar in ages besides moving it for vacuuming 😂👍

It's not the screw, it is also in dry food.
Maybe test your mixed salt water! See how much copper and zinc is in it (trace)

Tank looks AMAZING! 😍 At least you know you don't have ICH in there with all that copper! 😋
💙🐠
Where did you get the mesh lid from ?
oh. well now you know why your frogspawn shrunk
Just bend that screw back and fort and it should break tight off.
Use vise grips, easy to get good grip on it
When you going to give us a tune on that guitar?
I have a few git fiddles too... strings will rust quickly with it being that close to tank ☹️. Humidity s/b 50-55% for guitars... Rock on .."
i noticed the bottom of your tank stand dont look to good! and wouldnt trust it much longer,
I agree with you, I do notice the stand is deteriorating... 😱
Brown on poly filter is nitrates
Haven't we already seen all of this?
Doesnt it mean if you get the coral fighting you should take some out and give them some space?
If you put vaseline on the metal that rust it will help not to rust 🤣😂in the stand and hinges
Came here to write the same. I have been doing this for the last three years and reapplying every 6-9 months. It works awesome.
Thank you for the video. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you for watching!
Where did you get your refugium light
Zetlight sent it to me, love the light although a bit pricey!
Hi Innapropriate reefer! I hope u, Emily& baby son are all alright!! 😀 you know the music that plays in the background in your videos, who is the artist please?? 😀👍
I always run carbon just because, Its cheap enough to justify the cost
Copper didn’t come from that screw
The filefish will eat the shrimp if it gets the right opportunity.
Those poly filters are amazing. I’m pretty sure that they got rid of my hair algae after trying everything else under the sun.
I'm not here about the reef. How'd you grow that Human baby?
In Canada, actually 😂
Inappropriate Reefer ‘Canada eh.’ It works every time! May you and your beautiful family have Health and happiness.
Carbon good idea. Just put a chenipure in the sock.
Another video=your still alive 👍🏽👶🏼
Where did you get a baby from?
Those damn threaded nails always rust.
People dose copper for treading ick and it is bad for corals. U get rid of it by running carbon. Also i dont think any kind of metal or rust can raise copper level in the water
The wrasse is most prob hiding in the sand.
RIP Yashi gobies, sad ... ☹️
I always run carbon.. because of the softies. Refresh it every month
The Zoa Tank BOYZ are huge fans of both you and Mighty Nano tank!!!! We can’t get enough of you guys!!! It would be so awesome if you can checkout the Zoa Tank BOYZ youtube!!!! Keep up the good work!!!
I'm willing to bet it's the magnets.
Wrasses go to sleep in sand. Sometimes even up to 2-3 weeks.
For there to be copper, it needs to be inserted into the tank, soft corals cant just produce it from nothing
Use pureit
Love your content man.

Check the tank for stray electrical current with the ground on a power strip and a voltage meter.
The tank it’s looking awesome like always keep doing what you doing bud 💯👍
U don’t run carbon 😱😱😱😱😱😱
If its not an update on the 150g I don't care :)
Give him a break he and his wife just had a baby
Bro get some voice grips and twist it out man. Send me a sticker plz!!!
You got a son I got a girl shes 1 week old sleepless nights gongrates man
Make a nother saltwater tank
ditch the BTAs!
ug = micrograms
The ug looking unit is micro grams so it is pretty small. I’m in physics right now so we just learned it😂. Also, because I have a mixed reef I always run carbon. I had a leather that killed my acro one time because of chemicals so now I always run it
Inappropriate reefer cares for the enviroment, that's why he recycle his content 2 weeks in a row....
of bugger off, he became a dad...
