Crafting ended up going into a lot more depth than I expected. After CIG was against much crafting for so long, I thought it was going to end up being only consumables and stuff, but they really went all the way with it.
They went the crafting route when they realized they will never manage to create a theme-park universe and that is too much work for them so they will just create some tools for us to entertain each other. Sandbox like with light theme park missions and stuff like that
14:08 One of the Dev team members has come out and explained that mining locations have a finite amount of resources. These mining resources will regenerate over time when there is resource scarcity, but only if there is no active player bases in the immediate area.
I said a couple years ago when i 1st started playing.... one day i want a hotdog stand / ship tattoo parlor on the dunes of Daymar where i can use salvage repair tools to write names or art on ships. The name will be 'Tatoo -Weenie'
One thing I'm wondering is if you'll be able to build a stealth base. Something with small emissions, so that it wouldn't show up on the radar that easily. Doesn't have to be big, and it would make sense for the "cloaking" to have an operating cost, but I'd like to be able to hide a little shack somewhere in the depths of Pyro, with little to no defenses, relying purely on not being found. Idk what I'd actually use it for, but I just like the idea :)
Building and crafting is going to be a massive step forwards and will restore so much moral in the community, if they can pull it off that is. It will give exploring a purpose as well which is the most important thing for me too, having to scout out locations for a homestead and searching for blueprints, just wish I had an exploration ship to do the job in style!
My worry is that planets will become a clusterfck of bases scattered around everywhere eventually, especially on moons which are smaller bodies. Planets and moons in SC are massive so there is a lot of real-estate to go around but it could become a problem unlsess there are dedicated land plots where bases can be built while the rest of the planet can't be build on which i imagine would be the case in order to make things look somewhat more organized. That said, i imagine ORG's especially will probably want all of their buildings be next to each other in order to reduce logistics and travel time between them which could be a problem if some random guy has a land claim right in the middle of where your org wants to build for instance
Especially with the top 50 biggest Orgs. I can tell you in less than a day one of the ORGS will have the first space station within a couple hours or half the day.
@@pigskinrode0 Can't ... building takes time and no amount of players can influence that proces. Small homestead was doable in 1 play session while bigger stuff takes hours or days just to construct. (or longer was mentioned)

*This* right here is my personal #1 anticipated feature before the 1.0 release! I try not to be overly optimistic about CIG's feature delivery timeframe, but I gotta say it does appear to be further along than I expected it to be...
Man, I'm jazzed to get a little base together someplace with my friends. I have a sneaking suspicion that despite being lawless your average player could probably put a small base for extraction in Pyro, just given the sheer volume of land to hide one in. That depends on how detectable bases are via scanning however. I would certainly hope I might be able to sneak some small extractors onto a base in Pyro or Nyx to grab some higher quality materials for crafting.
I've got a friend who just wants to have a cozy little farm with a side hustle of salvaging. Not gonna lie, kind of a good vibe. I personally would like to craft logistics and such, ammo will be in need more often than guns! Plus, hotdog vendor while you wait in line for bullets? Sure why not!
Finally being able to build my base is one of the improvements I'm looking forward to the most, along with the exploration loops, whether it's scanning space or hacking.
The devs clearly need to add in a decent trading system, maybe an auction house and player vendors within their own bases (star wars galaxies style). There will also need to be a system to prevent massive land grabs like you see in some survival games like ark.
Great stuff, they've really thought out the "carfting", the only thing I would like to be sure of is that we can sell them when found and it's optional for adding to your own library. This way at least those whom are wanting to focus on NonCombat gameplay will be able to buy these from others and not be forced to do different gameplay loops they really do not wish to engage in.
Crafting will be fun, I'm sure... I'm really tempted by the BLD far more than I was by the possibility of a base-building Galaxy Module. And the Ironclad Assault will have a component fabricator in the workshop... which sounds really intriguing post-CitizenCon.
Every other game I play is a base building/survival/craft game. It’s the one thing I really wished would come to SC, looking forward to becoming a specialist crafter for my org!
base building, both on planet and in space is super cool, but i think that it will become somewhat exclusive to larger orgs just with the upkeep and raid protection that will be going on, but its all tentative and unknown until we see it in its complete build
I hope the sub-store items and whatever we have in our web hangar come with the blueprints for those items. I also hope we get fabrication modules for our personal hangars.
The crafting system looks good, but it is banking heavily on large groups working together. This is a little dangerous because I have seen numerous MMOs have large ideas but fail to actually build the base and collapse. Short answer, CIG needs to protect the individual player interests from getting steamrolled under by larger organized groups.
I like that they incentivized crafting by making it possible to make "better" items. And I like that people can focus on one item or items and be "the guy to go to" to get xyz item. hopefully it is possible to get high quality items without having to join a group necessarily.

Oooh i wonder what would be more viable: Building ships from scratch to then sell, OR retreiving derelect ships, repairing, getting it reregistered, then sell?
I'm really excited about crafting. I do hope that there's a way to make larger blueprints into org blueprints, because there's no way something like the Bengal carrier shown in the 1.0 look could be built solo. Even something Hammerhead sized would be a stretch to gather solo.
This game is gradually becoming exactly as Eve-Online-esque as I always expected it’d be. I’m currently not a huge fan of the “put each building wherever you want, nothing matters” system. I’d rather each building have to be connected to each other without some sort of underground magic tunnels. The actual design of each building is also a bit goofy. Why are these fuses placed in a box connected to nothing but the railing, at the end of a very obvious catwalk? Shouldn’t the important components be attached to the machine itself? Maybe even deep inside the mechanism? The “Pyro orgs fight over weekly shield services” mechanic also sounds very interesting, but the more I think about it, the more I wonder how it’ll interact with server meshing. How do people not lose their bases to getting attacked while asleep or at work? I suspect they’re going to announce a near complete rework at next year’s citizencon.
I am so so so happy with the progress and incoming ships/content. I can't wait for the crafting gameplay to be brought in and I think it will hit MMO mark for a lot of people and being more citizens to the verse.

Interesting. Played a similar game with a crafting system very similar, way back in the day. Will there be markets for these items, or is it purely trade ?
I wonder since we will be doing crafting, will we be able to sell our goods on the general market? Like could we become a supplier of pistols to Cubby Blast in Area 18?
Sooo excited for crafting and base building. Going to put so much more emphasis on mining and salvaging. Can't wait to find a Fury blueprint and just create an armada lol
I'm really excited for base building. Mainly because that's making this game more interesting to some of my friends. They want to build bases I want to salvage. Hopefully the two professions complement each other

Looking forward to finding a little out of the way place to build a home. Also, setting up a shop in an Org city or something like that. There's a lot of fun possibilities with this base building stuff. Thanks for the vid Bored and Zin. Be well everyone.
This is all great, on paper.. but they’re going into so much detail with everything that I worry this will ever be close to how it’s being pitched during my lifetime
With all this drone talk one thing that hasn’t been talked about is wth are the drones in the reclaimer for? Will they help with some type of building since that seems to be the way CIG is going with drones?
Did they do away with the pyro style of buildings to use for player homes being a craftable style/ aesthetic that i seem to remember being teased about a while back? I much prefer that to these metal fabricated habs.
I just hope that the economy has mechanics that counter inflation and/or usury. I remember in WoW when I got my first 'gold' , it was a big deal ... few yearslater 1000 gold for a simple ingredient ... so yeah I hope they keep that in check.

Did they do away with the pyro style of buildings to use for player homes being a craftable style/ aesthetic that i seem to remember being teased about a while back? I much prefer that to these metal fabricated habs.
This was the best SC info ive seen yet
I just hope that the economy has mechanics that counter inflation and/or usury. I remember in WoW when I got my first 'gold' , it was a big deal ... few yearslater 1000 gold for a simple ingredient ... so yeah I hope they keep that in check.
BoredGamer and his multiple videos a day getting us through our humdrum 9:00 to 5 with glorious SC content. 🖖
Now this, this makes things interesting.
We will need lots of mined resources.
I am excited about crafting, curious to know if planet resources can be completely exhausted or do the randomly respawn
They respawn as far as I understand it
Crafting game play is what I love to do. Can’t wait to see it in action
