Okay seriously Hiccup where did you get a collapsible, lightsaber like fire sword? In the first How To Train Your Dragon movie Hiccup was always a bit different from the rest of the Vikings in Berk which allowed him to tame the once feared dragons and engineer inventions, but in the second film we get to see a brand new, truly unique and epic weapon: the dragon blade. Now I couldn’t find an explanation on where this sword came from in the films, but I was able to do some digging within the show Race to the Edge to find an explanation on where it came from.

You should do Hiccup's shield. He created it in Defenders of Berk and used it until the final episode of Race to the Edge.

Now that he is going to get training from his mother, I'd guess the sword would be modified to produce a dragon-charming sound like his mother's staff did. Other than that, I'd guess a hidden dart launcher.

In how to train your dragon 🐉 the hidden world hiccup use dragon blade against grimmel but grimmel has no sword ⚔️ he only has his crossbow when hiccup said I will never give him up and said you think you can come into my house sit in my father’s cheer and threaten my dragon 🐉 pointing his sword 🗡 at grimmel s throat and grimmel brought a crossbow to a swordfight ⚔️🗡

Doesn’t deal with hiccup but deals with snotlout, further into the series race to the edge snotlout talks about what would happen if they stayed on Berk and said he would invent a mega weapon the axe-sword-mace, but in the first episode eye of the beholder when hiccup and toothless are on the reaper there is actually that same weapon on the wall when they are looking at the Golden door just something I saw re-watching

It wasn't just the Zippleback gas that influenced Hiccup's sword it was also the physical makeup of Viggo's sword. Anyone notice that when they fought with their swords for the first time Viggo's had two shafts? Hiccup also implements this idea into his sword and we see it in the second movie as well.
and he had a full sword that lit on fire, whereas the inside of Viggo's was hollow. Then in HTTYD 2 its hollow like Viggo's

I know that this is kinda nitpicky, but Monstrous Nightmare gel is NOT saliva. It is described in the RTTE episode “Follow the Leader” as “extremely flammable mucus coming out of every pore” and has been seen being extracted from just about anywhere on its body.
Sorry for the mini-rant, but that bothered me a little. Great video otherwise!😄

I can’t believe you’ve only just watched these films, I’ve loved them since they came out. Have you read the original books by Cressida Cowell? Totally different storyline, really needs to be treated as an entirely separate franchise but equally awesome and Hidden World is said to tie in more closely which is just giving me all the feels right now!

Fun fact: In the book series Hiccup is an INCREDIBLE sword fighter. Like, he won the highest status you can get as a sword fighter in-universe at thirteen years old and has regularly beaten grown adults twice his size - often literally. Of course, his first few fights don’t go so well (in fact, the first one helped Snotlout with an assassination attempt on him) but he quickly learns. In fact, it’s the only thing on the pirate training program (he’s training to be a Viking) he’s actually good at.

I like how RTTE kept Viggo's memory alive by revealing that the zippleback gas was originally Viggo's idea. It thus shows that Hiccup holds Viggo dearly and possibly as a way to remember him even if he doesn't want to.
Viggo was a complex character. Like was he evil or not?
@@Electivedrop I’d say he was neither since both him and hiccup were born to very different circumstances. Ik the end Viggo understood the love that dragons can have and he changed his ways. His firm belief of killing dragons stemmed from the society which brought him up, and when the monstrous nightmare saved him, he realised that dragons aren’t all vicious beasts

The way you say dragons (with a long a) somehow felt like a thorn in my side. :P But it's all good because I like your video. I just finished watching RTTE so knew the info up to the point where he saw Viggo's sword, so I expect he incorporated that into his. Didn't know about the DVD bonus feature though, so thanks for those additional info. Keep making these videos. :)
You forgot that Hiccups first Dragon Blade was destroyed during his final battle against Johann and Krogan, and a fun fact, his new Dragon Blade (The one in HTTYD 2) has a design similar to the Dragon Eye

Ok. For just saving some time, Hiccup made this sword AND this shield in-between HTTYD 1 and 2. In Dragons: Race to the Edge it shows Hiccup making these gadgets, as well as his 'flight suit'.

It's no secret where the sword came from. Hiccup made it, just like he made his wing-suit, the 2nd Dragon Eye, and all of the tail-pieces for Toothless.
