2:38 BRP Francisco Dagohoy is not a Navy ship nor a warship. It's a civilian ship of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources or BFAR. This ship was built in Navotas, Philippines and is used for research and fishermen support. They were the two black small ships on the news that the Chinese Coast Guard water cannon attacked last December while they were distributing food supplies and fuel to small fishermen.

The Philippines deserves much credit for its current navy modernization efforts, while also acknowledging that a number of vulnerabilities remain. It is wholly unrealistic that the Philippines would have the resources to invest in naval vessel expansion program (combing both foreign purchases and domestic production) that would mimic USN force structure. However, the Philippine navy would benefit from buying a larger number of smaller, capable hulls that could serve as the foundation for a distributed, multi-mission force- instead of buying/building one super-equipped vessel like a Arleigh Burke-class DDG, there would be more utility and ROI from a modest fleet of OPCs each equipped with a 76 mm gun, 25mm defense cannon, 8-16 VLS stack, ASM pods and adequate sensors to coordinate maritime operations in an increasingly contested environment. The Rizal class frigates purchased from SK are fitted for but not with VLS missiles, and they should be upgraded at the earliest opportunity.
The truth is that China and the PLAN is continuing illegal incursions into Philippine sovereign territory and the its EEZ, especially around the Second Thomas Shoal. While alliances with the US and other ASEAN members is very beneficial, ultimately the Philippines must plan for its own defense in times of conflict.

Southeast Asia is not just about Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia. Video said it's the weakest in southeast asia though. Philippines also started building it's own ships, that Dagohoy ship mentioned is locally made along with some Multipurpose craft at par with that from Israel's due to transfer of technology. This country has been called the sick man of Asia during the 90s, the 201st century it started waking up just like what was mentioned 2016. Change can't be as snap of finger, PH is not rich but see its trying to keep up with it's neighbors. Alot of projects are still ongoing, alot of spending for more bigger ships including subs, just keep an eye and you'll see.

We do not need to keep up with our neighbors. We need to grow and progress as a nation regardless of what our neighbors are doing. At this point, the Philippines needs to be strict with all land acquisitions! 80% of Manila is owned by Chinese immigrants! These high-rise buildings before Filipinos can buy a condo, 30% is already acquired by Chinese nationals! I am surprised we are still blinded by this mall meant to rob ordinary Filipinos while making these Chinese malls thrive with hard earned sweats of OFW's. The Chinese people are no ordinary race. They are the smartest among all races, easy to pick up trends and put them into action! Their foresight is unimaginable! It's because they knew how to understand and read minds. Confusius, a legendary Chinese genius, is full of wisdom, which were shared among the young and still followed from generations till present. As an ordinary citizen and traveled the 3 dimensions of the world, I got to taste and experience what it's like to be from the East, to the Middle East, and to the Western world. The Chinese, the Arabs, the Whites, and Africans are not different. At the end of the day, im happy and praise God, that i was born and raised where i am. After all, the Philippines is the dragon that will remain steadfast and will remain the only nation that will be revered by many, not because we are rich but because we thrive with compassion. We work with the heart of compassion. We remain respectful, irrespective of where we are.. We do not plant seeds that will grow a vengeful vine. Instead, we nurture when we are hurt and bring the bright light to defuse the evil fire within. Whatever is happening in the SCS, God will reveal himself in due time. PBBM IS A GOD SEND. Let's pray for more wisdom for our leaders!

@@travelw.b12oo3 Not keeping up with your neighbors is a sure fire way of getting yourselves wrecked both internally and externally. You alone might be respectful and peaceful to everyone, but not everyone would be the same as you, this also applies to the Philippines.
If people and other countries aiming to destabilize, destroy, occupy or invade the Philippines sees that we are weak, they would put us under the rug real quick. You also cannot apply the American-Vietnam War to China and the Philippines considering that they are much closer to us than the US is to Vietnam, many of them would also have no qualms of invasion due to their country's indoctrination.
Essentially, there would be nothing to develop and advance if your country did not exist in the first place.

Why Filipinos in the US makes more that 50 x than Filipinos living the Philippines? Because of the absence of red tape and equal in pay scale. Filipino Americans beats the Chinese, Japanese and Korean Americans when it come to wealth accumulations, the standard of living, educational achievements. Pinoys are the preferred choice among Asian Americans in leadership roles and higher job position.

Let's be real. The current Philippine Navy is still considered a constabulary force (coast guard) as it has few long range patrol ships and a handful of guided missile ships.
Sure it made recent acquisitions such as 6 new OPVs, 2 new corvettes, and 2 new LPDs, but these were still the bare minimum compared to the wishlist of the Philippine Navy during Horizon 2 which calls for 2 new frigates, 4 corvettes, 12 OPVs, and 2 new submarines.
To sum it up, the Philippine Navy is still the weakest among the main SEA navies due to budget re-prioritisation and corruption in the Philippine Government.

China modernize its Military since the time of Mao tse Tong & continued up to now time of Pres. Xi which almost 50 plus years ago, our neighboring countries in Southeast asia and Asia modernize their militaries 30, 40, & 50 years ago, the Philippines only start its real & serious modernization of our Armed Forces in 2017 beginning at the time of administration of former President Rodrigo Duterte Tatay Digong because of his strong Political will despite complains & criticizing, black propaganda, and opposition etc, etc, etc.you know form our enemies of the State and enemies of the Filipino people the terrorist Communist movements and organizations and anti-govrrment Evil forces of Evil Left Dilawans & Evil Left Pulahang Komunistang terorista. So in total we only modernized our military 7 years ago but the good news was President PBBM Jr.. have a very vocal and strong political will to make our military as strong as in the time of his Father Pres. Apo Lakay Ferdinand E. Marcos Sr. In 1960' & 1970's as one of the strongest military in Asia n that time.Lets see the progress to the coming implementation of Horizon 3 of AFP Modernization Program which was revised and revitalized and extended to year 2030!😊Good luck to us the Filipinos!😊😊😊
