European here, and I remember CJ's Elephant Antics! It's a really, really good C64 game - probably one of the best on the system in fact. Seems like in reality, the developer of Super Noah's Ark 3D just paid them for the engine and it was originally going to be a Hellraiser game, but then doom came out and they repurposed it into the Noah's Ark game.
I absolutely loved Zoda's Revenge as a kid. The original Startropics too, but I very much remember the sequel making much more of an impact. It might just have been due to something as simple of all the fun different locations/time periods, I STILL think of this game whenever sarsaparilla is ever mentioned. Zoda's Revenge...so overlooked it's not on Nintendo Switch Online within 5 years of that service's existence. Do the right thing Nintendo and let that game come back to light!
I liked both startropics and zoda's revenge as a kid. And while zoda's revenge is an improvement gameplay wise, its also more linear in the overworld department. Besides chapter 5, its very hard to get lost in this game as the maps are all primarily a straight path. With warps that take you to your destination.
I freaking love Rushing Beat Shura! First beatemup I ever clicked with thanks to the dash attacks!! Those new portraits in the localized version are hilariously bad though!! Just play the original, it’s good.
Wolfenstein 3D is one of those childhood games that I didn't own personally but I played probably at least as much as any game I owned. My grandpa owned a computer with the shareware version of W3D on it and every time we would go to his place for a family gathering my brother & I would play the game for a couple hours. By then the ps1 had already been out for a while so 3D games were fairly commonplace (and doom had been out for years), but for some reason we really loved and replayed it all the time.
I'm glad they brought back *Dunkaroos,* but the only flavor I liked as a kid was cinnamon (vanilla cookies with a cinnamon), and those are VERY hard to find. They exist under the flavor of "Cinnamon Toast Crunch", which people are probably disgusted by, so no wonder it doesn't sell well (I assume, since no-one sells it). -_-
I remember renting The Peacekeepers frequently from my local video store. I really enjoyed the branching paths. Don't think I ever managed to beat it. Also, the character with the leather coat had a badass DBZ style transformation for his screen clear.
Rushing beat and crime fighters... If I had a nickel for every Japanese beat em up trilogy that was made into 3 unrelated games overseas I'd have 2 nickels, which is not a lot but it's weird it happened twice
Say what you will about the 90s, the only thing better then the games, were the snacks we had in our lunches. And yes, Planters Cheese Balls were awesome as a kid. Any other brand feels weird to eat. Maybe its the fact they came in a can. Next week's guesses with the use of google. A weird 90s fad turned video game: There were many weird 90s fads turned video game, you're going to have to be more specific. A Sega run and gun: I'm guessing either Gunstar Heroes or I think it was called Alien Solider which was essentially a contra boss like rush game. Capcom's final appearance on the NES: I'm going to say...Duck Tales 2. Or a Megaman game.
Great episode, I wish you'd add a little bit more history behind the games, or even showing you beating the final boss in some of these. You make amazing consistent content, for real!
that’s not what puffs used to be like they used to just be a paw and they didn’t have big hollow spots. They were actually a lot harder than regular Cheetos and had more cheese. Well, all right like they had a hole in the very middle I think but it was just a tiny hole and the claws were just claws. I liked them, the ones you got look like shit.
Definitely more enjoyable than the first outing despite losing a bit of the tropical atmosphere. I like how the final dungeon is actually the first dungeon of the first game with a boss rush crammed in.
10:14 to paraphrase Todd Ingram, Evil Ex no.4 "Cheetos aren’t vegan?!" Although i have been vegan for about 10 years and never heard about that enzyme thing. I never thought i would learn something like that from this show! You just keep on being the best Dylan
About the Wolfenstein 3D SNES port: It was published by Imagineer, but actually developed by id Software. They had originally contracted a man to make the port, and then forgotten all about it as they started working on Doom. But right in the middle of Doom's development, they were contacted by Imagineer who hadn't gotten any updates about the project. Id Software couldn't get a hold on the man they'd contracted, so they just decided to do it themselves. Thus, right in the middle of making Doom, they took around 3 weeks "off" to make a Wolfenstein 3D port for the SNES.
Many years ago, I sat next to a co-worker whose “pregnancy craving” was Cheetos dipped in chocolate pudding. I think Dylan might be wise not to cross the streams between cheese puffs and chocolate. 🤢
It’s only a matter of time when you discuss either Doom ii on September 30 of this year considering that’s the 30th anniversary of when it came out. And Rise of the Triad on December 21st of this year on this show.
Many people doesn't give the NES the importance it really had. By 1994, even with the 16 bit consoles and the upcoming 32-bit ones, the NES was still very popular. We still rented games and consoles (both original and pirate) were still been selling on stores. 1994 saw the last great games for the console in the US and it was discontinued in1995 mostly because the N64 was supposed to arrive that year but many unlicensed games were done by then. It pretty much survived two thirds of the SNES lifespan.
The NES had a freakishly long lifespan for a gaming console, 10 years (1985-1995). It remained on shelves long after the new 16-bit systems had come out. It's still my all-time favorite console. The Switch is getting close to rivaling it. It'll be 7 years as of March 3rd, and the Switch 2 isn't likely to drop until 2025...
I laughed harder at "UPDATE. PAWS ARE BACK" than I should have.
Honestly, i just imagine Dylan having done most of this, then he saw the cheetos at the store when he was shopping so he made the bit lol

Zoda's Revenge...so overlooked it's not on Nintendo Switch Online within 5 years of that service's existence. Do the right thing Nintendo and let that game come back to light!
Nintendo : "Nah. Too hard. Do you want us to suffer ? Also Zoda's Revenge ? Never heard of it."
This game has been chilling in my Analogue NT Mini Noir for weeks. Such a good game, and an absolutely killer and heavily overlooked OST!
I was born 3 days later. I'm 30 this year. Wow.
I liked both startropics and zoda's revenge as a kid. And while zoda's revenge is an improvement gameplay wise, its also more linear in the overworld department. Besides chapter 5, its very hard to get lost in this game as the maps are all primarily a straight path. With warps that take you to your destination.
Stadt Meister? That's pretty clever censoring for the NES port of Wolfenstein 3D.
I freaking love Rushing Beat Shura! First beatemup I ever clicked with thanks to the dash attacks!!
Those new portraits in the localized version are hilariously bad though!! Just play the original, it’s good.
I'm not sure I would call Star Tropics 2 "overlooked", but hey you got my engagement out of it. Also, love this channel. Insta watch every time.
Americola!!?? That's my favorite soda, I just love Americola 👍👍
Cheetoh's Paws always reminded me of Honeycomb cereal but cheesy
By the people who made Quest 64? I already know what kind of quality to expect there, then.
EDIT: 4:52 what the heck is that art?
Wolfenstein 3D is one of those childhood games that I didn't own personally but I played probably at least as much as any game I owned. My grandpa owned a computer with the shareware version of W3D on it and every time we would go to his place for a family gathering my brother & I would play the game for a couple hours. By then the ps1 had already been out for a while so 3D games were fairly commonplace (and doom had been out for years), but for some reason we really loved and replayed it all the time.
I love that this has become a friday tradition
Can confirm, Zoda's revenge is easy to find and get a hold of inexpensively.
Those paws aren't the same as they used to be. Paws had a more dense texture, and a completely different shape.
I remember renting The Peacekeepers frequently from my local video store. I really enjoyed the branching paths. Don't think I ever managed to beat it. Also, the character with the leather coat had a badass DBZ style transformation for his screen clear.
Peace keepers was a trilogy?! That was one favorite games. My buddy and I played it all the time!
Dylan you MadmaN, YOU DEVOUR those dunkaroos.
Somehow, Zoda returned.
Well they are clones. The "real" Zoda is still dead.
that’s not what puffs used to be like they used to just be a paw and they didn’t have big hollow spots.
I'm surprised they haven't put startropics 2 on NSO yet.
10:14 to paraphrase Todd Ingram, Evil Ex no.4 "Cheetos aren’t vegan?!"
Although i have been vegan for about 10 years and never heard about that enzyme thing. I never thought i would learn something like that from this show!
You just keep on being the best Dylan
STARTROPICS 2 PLAYTHROUGH WHEN?!
This 👆🏼
About the Wolfenstein 3D SNES port: It was published by Imagineer, but actually developed by id Software.
Your editors were so preoccupied with whether they could they never stopped to think whether they should.
CodeMasters is still around today, shockingly enough since EA owns them now.
@@HylianFox3 Definitely one the best and a huge cultural milestone around the world.
Im all here for mid show 90s snack food reviews haha.
Good episode as always.
Zelda's Revenge sounds awesome!
Those who complain about games being expensive these days, NES Budget titles cost $40
That's like $84.38 in todays money for Bad Street Brawler. 😮 renting games was the only way to go.
As a Brazilian I laughed at Dylan's remark "there must be a Master System version from Brazil" 😂
