Just placed my order for my first ever Nintendo Switch after wanting one for 7 years and I'm beaming with excitement!! So happy to finally be able to experience this gem of a console!!!
I bought a second hand miss match one from GameStop and only have Pokemon Legends Arceus I love it and can't wait to buy an OLED and some more Pokemon Games
As a Chinese viewer, since you already have so many Switch items in your collection, I strongly recommend you to get a Chinese version (Or Tencent Version) Switch. This version of Switch’s account system, eshop, and network services are completely independent from other versions. It even uses a WeChat account instead of a Nintendo account to log in to the console. But since the amount of the games in it is limited (only with about 50 games), so the majority of Chinese players will choose to buy the Hong Kong or Japanese version Switch. Moreover, Nintendo and Tencent have also cooperated to release Tencent version game cards of many games, such as Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8, etc. These games cards can only be used with the Tencent version Switch and are not compatible with other versions. Hope you can see this comment :)
The Switch is my favourite console of all time, hands down. And this is mainly due to three reasons: 1. The hybrid concept I really think the concept of a hybrid system is timeless. You can play wherever you want and whenever you want, and you can play them all offline regardless where you are. That is so cool! I think even in 10, 15, 20 years later, this concept will still be super fun to enjoy. Because of this concept, I no longer fight with my family over a TV at home (this used to happen a lot when someone in my family wanted to watch sports on the TV and I wanted to play on my Wii or Wii U). It has brought a certain peace to my family, for which I am very grateful. I really can see me using my Switch as a second console even after the Switch 2 came out after a few years. The OG Switch on the go, and switch 2 docked on the TV. 2. The insane big Gaming Library The Library of the Switch is so big, it's literally insane. I have over 182 games for my switch, and i barely finished 5% of my collection. This is the biggest pile of shame i ever had for a Nintendo console XD. Yeah there are a lot of remakes and remasters on the switch, but a lot of them are games that i desperately want to play on the go or on the big screen back then. Also, a lot of them are Remasters and Remakes of high quality games. I hope the rumors are true and the Switch 2 is backwards compatible, because i want to sent my switch games to the Switch 2. But i think thats a save bet. 3. The insane amount of cool Accessoires for the Switch Just like with the games, I also had as many accessories for a console as for the Switch. I have a power bank with an improved kickstand, AR glasses from XREAL, countless controllers, dongles, normal kickstands, docks, etc. You can do so much with the Switch, much more than with a classic home console or handheld. Combined with the hybrid concept, the Switch is the most comfortable console of all time. Simply because you can adapt it precisely to your way how you play videogames. I hope that most of my accessories still work with the Switch 2. This could save me a lot of money. I have the feeling that the reasons mentioned above also play a big role in why the Switch is so successful and popular. That and the reason that many people blindly trust Nintendo when it comes to handheld consoles. And that's been the case since the Gameboy came out.
I've got another point: this is console for EVERYONE. Either you're a hardcore player, that wants to checks off as much of games as possible, or you're a mom that wants to buy something nice for whole family, so they can spend some quality time together, or someone who just likes to bring additional fun to parties, either with themselves or at their place. I adroe this console. When anyone like "oh you know, I was wondering to buy console, so we can play something chill with my daughter" my first response: "honey, get a Switch". I've also got a PS, and it is way worse to "bring people together" than Switch. For play with 4 people you need to buy 4 separate controllers, that are not cheap. In Switch you just need a console, a game and the extra one controller, wich would cost you almost 300$ less than PS setup. And you can't carry it around.
Love that you and Scoot tell each other "I love you." I've really been trying to do this more and normalize this with my close friends and it feels really good.
Man, I really miss having a switch. I was forced to sell mine to help cover the cost of my dad's funeral. I'm living vicariously through your videos lol
Really cool collection! I think there is one switch that Wood doesn't have. A switch with custom joycon colours, wristband thingies & box from a Japenese Nintendo Store, where they allow you to choose any joycon colours with the purchase of a new switch. Including non-retail ones. (Such as a pastel green on the left, where retail only sells them on the right)
Wood doesn't have the new animal crossing new horizons switch lites, maybe one day we will get a video of him completing the Switch lites for good. Your collection though is incredible and must be breath taking in person!
It's hard to believe that just because a console released, Wood has been able to make a career off of it. I genuinley wonder where you would be if the Switch never released. Keep it up man!
To think that you're the one who got me into Nintendo in the first place, so many years ago. Now I have two switches (just got the Oled!) and a ton of Japanese games I got on holiday that I'm struggling to play because I don't know how to read Japanese... But it's all been such a cosy and fun ride. So, thanks! Keep on being you :)
I'm just starting to get into collecting certain select Switch games and consoles and I have to say, the Collector's Edition versions of Hollow Knight and especially Stardew Valley are amazing.
One fun thing you can do with that section where he goes through all the games really fast is pause in a random spot in it and whatever game you see is the next game you get.
The Switch is the first console I've ever wanted to purposely collect (my stage name is only part of it, I swear!) I also bought a house on an artist's income, so being able to watch and appreciate your collection as it's grown is the closest I've gotten so far to building the collection I dreamed of when this console was announced. Congrats on your success both as a creator and collector! Here's looking forward to enjoying your work in 2024!
Around 9:18 you said all the limited run games came with a card. You should get a TCG folder to store them in. It would also mean you can turn the pages and view them all.
I have all the systems that we (my son and I) have ever owned. The oldest is probably a Game Boy color that was mine back in the day. I wish I could find our old Intellivision from when I was a kid. My son was into Skylanders when he was little. Still have quite a few of those.
Woods adah mitigation techs for game reviewing are impressive. I keep telling my wife that putting something away is pretty much giving up on it forever.
1. Awesome collection 2. It's time for a spread sheet to keep track. So you don't accidentally buy stuff twice. 3. We need to rearrange the stuff. My OCD kicked in so many times!😅
This really puts things into perspective such a great collection. Don't want to be that guy but Pyre did come before Hades yet Pyre hasn't got a Switch port and a lot of people seem to forget about it. A personal highlight of my own collection is a few Switch Limited Editions such as: Crystar, Aokana Four Rythems Across The Blue, Atelier Ryza 3, Atelier Sophie 2 and Blue Reflection Second Light. As for rare games I have all 3 Clannad games physical, Mary Skelter 2, Nights Of Azure Bride Of The New Moon and both Food Girls games among every game developed by GUST on Switch in English.
just traded in a switch lite for a red and blue switch. first thing i did on the switch was launch youtube and search you up. you’re my go to entertainer and your channel is so extensive i can find 20 minute videos on anything i am looking for related to nintendo here. thanks so much wood waiting for the next drop
It’s not how many games you have that counts it’s how many you own you really like and enjoy playing buying every Nintendo Switch game completely makes no sense games you’ll never play
He's been collecting since 2017 and sponsorships give crazy money. Honestly though once you get past exclusives most games aren't that much to get used or on estore sales the average game price probably is lower than you think. It's still a crazy amount of money don't get me wrong but yeah.
Not every game is $60, and many of them will go on sale to $20-$30, and even less than that at times. Also helps to get some sponsorships and free games from devs and pubs. I'm almost at 1700 physical Switch games in my collection, and a lot of the titles I get are usually bought through sales, promos, or trades. Also, it helps if you've been collecting the platform since 2017 or 2018 to not have to pay out the nose for some titles that are far out of print now.
I wouldn't be opposed to Wood doing the occasional Let's Play of those games in his "I actually want to play these but can't make time for them" box. Or he could do what other channels like Game Theory or Kyle Hill have done and just create a separate channel specifically for that.
Kip is so underrated as a wrestler. As for switch stuff, ive never been able to get into the system as much but i own a zelda oled and standard launch. plus 60+ games. i never play them lmao. just buy them. You have a wicked collection Wood, better have insurance for it. Even if not to replace everything in the event of some event, you could at least recoup some of the cost.

Obviously it's tough to play even close to everything in a collection this large. But then, why have it? If having shelves of games/systems taking up space in your house (and eating up your wallet) genuinely brings you some amount of joy, then that's cool and keep doing your thing. After recently selling off my entire collection though, seeing this gave me a small anxiety attack. 😅
