Most people only talk about the flatness, or steepness of the plane. I was impressed that you brought up the "narrowing" aspect. Good stuff!!

First video I've watched on your channel after being recommended by the TXG folks - and 3 minutes in I've learned something new! The idea that my shallow swing leads to both an I>0 iron swing and a O>I driver swing makes total sense now! Since working on neutralizing my swing I've been so confused why I'm suddenly fading drives and fairways while still drawing my irons.

I was always under the impression that when you hit down on the ball and pinch the ball against the turf that you get the ball to not only spring off the club head but you get the additional spring against the turf as well which effectively gives you the maximum spin once the ball leaves the club. Doesn’t proper spin like that give the ball its true flight? I’m really working on getting a little steeper lately with my irons and I’ve noticed no more scooping and no more bloopers either. You watch the pros and they take nice divots time after time. I was interested to hear you say that unless you have decent club head speed taking a decent divot does you no good unless you can spin it. Thank for the video and explanation 👍

Thanks for keeping an open mind Tom. I'm not making this stuff up!

Thanks Andrew. Great video. Certainly dispels some of the myths we all hear. Can you do a video on weight shift? I’m leaning (pardon the pun) on feeling like I have more weight on the left side throughout the swing rather than having a big shift away and back. My consistency of strike definitely improves which is king for me. Thanks again.

Cheers Simon! Done quite a few on weight shift in the archives.

Why do you hit a club up when hitting out of a fair way bunker?
Isn't it because you don't get as much compression from the sand?

Upward angle of attack will result in a path to right and therefore to hit a straight shot with driver the path needs to be to right if the angle of attack is up. With irons - if the angle of attack is down then path needs to be left to hit a straight shot. Divergence plane and ball flight laws dictate that. Looks like you are talking the opposite. What am I missing ?

@@andrewricegolf It works but it's excessively low compared to any other videos. It's probably the way it was recorded (microphone distance or level)
