I have this car and and I love it and love the design. It may not have all the bells and whistles that everyone feels they have to have in order for it to be considered a “nice car,” because unfortunately that’s what our world has turned us into, but it’s a great car and gets great gas mileage. It may be boring or bland to some, but some people don’t need all the fancy stuff in a car to get from point A to point B, and for some they get what they can afford. All in all doesn’t matter if it’s a base model or top of the line, it’s still a great car.
Jayme Santos ... we have a 2020 Elantra SEL and it is flat out nice .. I also drove a 2009 Lexus ES350 and I like the Elantra better ...not as fast but fast enough ... not quite as quiet but very smooth and quiet ..far more fuel efficient .... loaded with more high end “goodies” than the es350 ... no power seat but the manual seat works quite well though. ..... a really nice car for $18,700 “out the door” (includes dealer fee, sales tax, registration and tag) .... car was $16,440
Picked up a clone of this featured 2019 Elantra just last week. Happy so far and agreed don't need all the bells and whistles; just more stuff to break imo. Has just what you need and that suits me fine.
These new Elantras are beautiful I got one of the higher versions and I love it people just like to bitch and complain about everything but i love the front end people can think what they want this car looks great it drives very nice can't complain I'm happy with my purchase and I'm sure many others are too because I see lots of them on the road
I use to own a 2002 Elantra, which I had for 11 years -- it was one of the best cars I've ever had. Then I owned a 2013 Elantra, which I detested so much I traded it in after 6 months (it drove like absolute garbage). Now I own a 2016 3-series. The Germans over-engineer and over-complicate. I miss, and I've come to appreciate, the simplicity of a basic car. My ex-girlfriend has a 2014 Accent, and around town I didn't think it was too bad, even if it was mega slow and the limits were exceptionally low. Honestly, as long as it drives OK, this 2019 Elantra seems pretty decent for the stripped-out base model. Although I don't know if I'd pay 19K for the stripped-out one.
These things are like $14k brand new, no miles, how can you hate on that ? It’s a better looking car than ford and Kia compacts, probably better built as well. Looks like a straight forward, decent looking, gas saving, affordable car to me.
3:51 Yeah, it's obscene that Honda doesn't include variable speed intermittent wipers on the base model! My old 2003 Toyota Celica had variable speed intermittent wipers!
Well, when I was car shopping everyone advised me against purchasing a Kia or Hyundai. I ended up with a 2017 Elantra due to steep discounts. I was pleasantly surprised and it’s been a terrific vehicle. I may or may not replace it once I graduate college next spring, but for now it’s fine.
That car is beautiful and super useful and put together. It is true the old design (2013) is much cuter and artsy, but this design is just all around more efficient and practical, and the SE model is loaded with all the basics any normal person could ever wish for. The front design is wonderful btw, super cool ⚡️⚡️
The 2020’s are going to have a CVT. I like the looks of the new Kia Forte better. Look forward to videos going forward on this car to see how it holds up. Do a test drive if you can. Thanks.
“Bottom of the barrel” never heard that one 🤨 🤷🏾♀️... is the a great difference between SE and SEL MODEL? And also no your not alone when it comes to the front grill looking a bit weird. The 2017 front grill was worse to me so this 2019 was a nice improvement. Good review especially when describing the inside cushioning.
Good video Garrison! The Elantra model your Dad is driving now is a basic work car essentially. Or a very basic commuter. I'm guessing it will probably be alright for him depending on how far he travels for work. As long as he is comfortable with the seating position. Not sure exactly how many hours a week he spends behind the wheel. If it has the capacity that he needs for work then who can complain. It is one of the basic models as you described. Happy Easter to you and your family Garrison! Hope your Easter break goes well! Always my personal best for you! Mark in Iowa.
Thanks for all the Easter wishes! During his years of 30,000+ miles a year, he would spend tons of time on the highway but now its more around town driving and going between local offices. This should make the Elantra a great fit due to its smaller size and better fuel economy. As of now, he has no complaints but I'll be sure to see how his opinions change over the coming months. Take care Mark!
Yes I had benz , trucks, you name it and when I got this car se best by far and it last more then that Lexus or defenally then that BMW you got there so please your dad is lucky 😉
Love your review. Yes it is basic looking but you’re right about an A to B car. If someone needs something new and doesn’t have the money for the Corolla or Civic and basic doesn’t bother then yeah go for it. I may look into one because I work and go to school and need something decently sized because sub compacts are not my thing. The headlights don’t bother me or wow me and if I’m not mistaken Hyundai’s aren’t stolen as often as Honda’s and Toyota’s, so wouldn’t basic be a good thing? Do you think Hyundai will make the Elantra more pleasing to the eye like they’re doing with the Sonata ?
I prefer the pre-facelift exterior design, but I personally believe it’s one of the best compacts on the market. Far, far better than the new Corolla, Civic, Focus, Cruze, etc. The Elantra in high-tier trims can actually be a very nice experience for a non-premium compact.
The Elantra with the 2.0L MPFI engine is Hyundai's only reliable vehicle. Stay away from their GDI engines, which is every other car in their lineup. Honda the same. Only buy the Civic with the 2.0L MPFI engine. The 1.5L GDI engine has oil dilution problems.
This is a really weird choice of a company car. Very strange they didn’t go for a Ford product such as a Fusion hybrid. Is this car actually owned by his company or is it owned by a 3rd party fleet company?
I’m surprised they gave the complete base model. The local enterprise has the SEL and Eco models on the lot...but the design is decent, not the ugliest thing I’ve seen.
Do you know what’s funny is you could get an accent which is a cheaper car with a better key like seriously the 2019 accent even in the base trim comes with a nice flip key like what the hell is going on with the Elantra having this cheap ass 90s key.

I could get used to the front end, but agree the 17 and 18,s look better. I like the taillights.
Agreed
Must be kinda hard to transition from a pretty loaded ES350 to a bare bones Elantra.
Free makes it a little easier haha

The front looks like my 10th grade geometry project 😂
You know what makes owning one of these even better? Having electric power steering and a nice 6 speed h pattern

Just bought one,
Last week manual transmission.
$15,000
same
im still learning manual lol
Daniel Escobedo Cool, a new model? Didn’t know they came with manual.
Same
I like the front end because its different.

Hard to beat a good deal! Glad its working out for you
Same! I love it!!! 2017 is great
ElevenDays7 .... and the 2020 ELANTRA SEL is even better.
i have 2019 elantra SEL
Just watched your very first video then this, HUGE difference haha good content!
I cannot stand a car that has wheel covers on it. It just screams cheap more than anything else on the outside of a car. Thanks for the video.
Hey Gearson. I love your videos. Keep it up with the good content. I am a big fan of cars.
Just bought my 3rd Elantra. Great cars
I'm just shook the company couldn't at least work out a deal on an SEL model, or a base 19 Sonata as that generation is on the way out.
brorowcarwiz Yes its very surprising
I actually think it’s pretty sharp....great video man. Are you filming with a phone or a go pro? Or neither? Thx
This is my iPhone
Ok cool. Which one are u using. They film as good as a go pro now

Smart I've always wanted to have a Cadillac, Lexus or Infiniti in the garage and use a car like this or a Corolla as a daily driver
Nice video! I like the Accent Se because it has more features and a nicer key fob, and I love the front end of the Elantra, you’re awesome!
Appreciate the support!
The 2020’s are going to have a CVT. I like the looks of the new Kia Forte better. Look forward to videos going forward on this car to see how it holds up. Do a test drive if you can.
Thanks.
Will definitely be documenting the ownership as the months progress. Thanks for watching
We have a 2020 SEL with the “IVT” and it’s just great.

this is beautiful car well put together i like driving car i feel it not what people like
Cannot wait to see more videos on this car
I love the steering wheel
I love the front but idk why the back look like a sonata to me
It’s a new year 2024🎉
I like it. Wouldn't pay 20k but 13k sold
Beautiful 2019 Hyundai Elantra SE

Great vid just wish you would upload more 👍
That Commander is like the flagship of your family fleet
I’ve got a 09 Commander and now I’m getting an Elantra
"even the rental car companies don't even use these"
Enterprise literally have these flooding for sale
East coast markets only stock SEL trims. Sorry to here your market has SE’s 😢

I'll be curious to see what your dad thinks about this car under normal use. I'm glad he's hanging onto the Lexus though!
Agreed, I'm interested to see how his opinions change as the months progress.
Not for nothing this car is very good and nice perfect in gas 420 I think maybe more on a full tank
The front end is fine, but Kia took Hyundai's reasoning away in my eyes.
Im sorry but you kinda sound like Bruce from Family Guy. The base comes with an o optional 6spd manual though
At least this car has a backup camera garrison
Ouch
Sorry but it’s the truth
I prefer the pre-facelift exterior design, but I personally believe it’s one of the best compacts on the market. Far, far better than the new Corolla, Civic, Focus, Cruze, etc.

I Really Like this Review , I dont know why but still it's 👍👍
What does your father work as to be getting company cars and/or mileage compensation? Thanks
I'm also curious.
Nissan Maxima Lots of salespeople and mangers get company cars
Not everyone can look down a cheap car because they cannot afford a Lexus!
The Elantra with the 2.0L MPFI engine is Hyundai's only reliable vehicle. Stay away from their GDI engines, which is every other car in their lineup. Honda the same. Only buy the Civic with the 2.0L MPFI engine. The 1.5L GDI engine has oil dilution problems.
great review
I love that car
This refresh went overboard which made it look overstylistic and already outdated. 2017-2018 was better. Steering wheel looks nice on this tho. Haha.
To each their own. Hope you're doing well.
This is a really weird choice of a company car. Very strange they didn’t go for a Ford product such as a Fusion hybrid. Is this car actually owned by his company or is it owned by a 3rd party fleet company?
Not positive, but I think they're all managed through Hertz.
ThinkOutsideTheCube Makes sense since Hertz usually buys base trims
ThinkOutsideTheCube Yeah it’s probably managed by DONLEN which is a Hertz company.
I’m surprised they gave the complete base model. The local enterprise has the SEL and Eco models on the lot...but the design is decent, not the ugliest thing I’ve seen.
Tyler Chamberlain Yes the SE isn’t sold to rental fleets
Do you know what’s funny is you could get an accent which is a cheaper car with a better key like seriously the 2019 accent even in the base trim comes with a nice flip key like what the hell is going on with the Elantra having this cheap ass 90s key.
Why didn't your family go for the highest trim level?
He said it’s a company car. You don’t get to pick options
Work for Toyota but get a Hyundai?
Mohamed osman it’s his dads car but who said anyone had to have that car just because they work there?
19k for a smelly ol' base model elantra???
It's not that bad for the price. Surprised the company gave him such a cheap car though. My neighbor's company car is a Ford Explorer lol.
That would be nice.
Vey nice!
Probably will be my first car, unless I can get a Dodge Journey.
Better then that BMW you got there by far
Read the room sir
My friends 2006 Hyundai Elantra has that same key fob lmao
I mean.. it is a company car after all... but a base trim...
You sound like your from Massey Toyota honestly
Dashcammer Roblox he is
@@kulrajcheema3593 i knew it!
Yeah, thanks Garrison. I’d prefer my ‘19 Civic LX too lol
A good mileage
It’s a new year 2024
Nice car
The 2017 model was better
What work does your dad do?
That’s a big ooof
2017 looks better
I saw an SE on the road today . The blandest new car I have ever seen .
I bet it will be a good car , just boring .

Very ugly. I have pre facelift model.
Nice car
