    At the moment, my humidifier looks like a cinder block! This is a nice, helpful video, and it's to the point! Thank you for that. Didn't know I could use citric acid, whatever that is. At least now I can go look it up and find out the specifics on something proven to work instead of trying everything in my garage, like the power washer and gasoline. I should have thought that one through. Eye and hand protection were a good after thought.

    On the manual of my air Humidifier, it says: Do not use chemical solvents, petrol, scouring powder or the like to clean the unit. Don't the citric acid and decalcifier damage an ultrasonic humidifier?

    • @stadlerform
      @stadlerform  7 місяців тому

      Hi @moseszal9639
      Thank you for your inquiry. It's important to always follow to the manufacturer's guidelines. If you're using a different brand of device, it's best to reach out to them directly for advice. Our cleaning and descaling product is specifically designed for use in humidifiers, ensuring thorough cleaning and descaling without causing damage. As mentioned in the video, citric acid should be used cautiously, following the recommended mixing ratios. When used properly, it poses no risk to Stadler Form appliances. Alternatively, household cleaning vinegar can also be used, though it may require multiple applications for heavy limescale buildup. If you're unsure, we recommand to consult the manufacturer of your humidifier. Feel free to reach out if you have any further questions. Best regards, Lea from @ Stadler Form

    I have watched several videos for this. Mine is very corroated with lime scale. You did not mention to run the unit??? Several others said to run it with the vinegar for half hour. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @stadlerform
      @stadlerform  4 роки тому +1

      Hello Mary, good to hear from you. Indeed, some units can be run during the cleaning. We do have such units, too. On those humidifiers, we have a special cleaning mode which stops the fan and avoids the water/detergent mix to be pushed into the air. If your unit has such a mode - then use it. If not (and the humidifier is pushing the mix into the air), I would rather suggest not to run the unit during cleaning. I hope that makes sense. Let me please know, if you have any further questions. Best regards from Samuel @ Stadler Form.

    I am guessing, using CLR (Calcium, Lime & Rust removing concentrate, available in Home Depot) falls under the same category as Decalcifier, provided that you follow CLR dilution directions published on the jug.

    • @stadlerform
      @stadlerform  4 роки тому +4

      Hey @t f I just red the product description of CLR from Home Depot and they recommend it for humidifiers, too. So I think it should be safe to use. It seems to me quite strong from what I read, so maybe it is wise to dillute the liquid a little bit more. Have a great day and best regards from Samuel @ Stadler Form.

    Thank you for this video! I use Fred humidifier for almost a year and very happy with it. I always used citric acid to clean it but last time there were more limescale than before and citric acid did not clean it. So I tried vinegar but ceramic coating cleared in some places on the heating element. Did I do something wrong? Can I continue use it?

    Hello, I purchase a vicks humidifier and after using twice there was really intense mineral oil build up on the inside…it’s really hard and won’t come off for any reason. I tried the vinegar and left it to soak over night and did it for a couple days also and it did not work… I tried baking soda and liquid soap. Please help.

      Hi Salina Rampersand, the device mentioned is not ours, so we do not know its characteristics. In case of stubborn deposits, it may usually help to repeat the cleaning process. If this does not help with your device, we recommend that you contact the manufacturer of your device directly and ask for help. Best regards from Lea @ Stadler Form

      @@anitakucinic6792 No problem, I just wanted to make sure I give you the right information. :-)
      Robert has a cleaning mode. This mode also cleans the disc pack. You can find the cleaning video that explains how to do it here: ua-cam.com/video/2IdAS7AR0Vc/v-deo.html
      If the cleaning mode is not sufficient, you can soak the disc pack in a mixture of water and commercially available cleaner and descaler. Follow the instructions on the cleaner for the mixing ratio and duration. After rinse with a shower head and, if necessary, clean the spaces between the panes with a brush. If this does not help, you can contact our customer service by e-mail at service@stadlerform.com.

    Have you tried lemon juice? It's more acidic than vinegar, and it smells a lot nicer! And you can sometimes buy it as concentrate, which presumably would be even more acidic still!

    • @stadlerform
      @stadlerform  3 роки тому

      Yes, it can work - but as you mention - it is more acidic - which means that probably you want to mix it with water to avoid damage to the unit. But totally agree - the smell of vinegar is not the best :-) Stay safe and healthy. Best regards from Samuel @ Stadler Form.

    If you use an Ecoflap vent cover to automatically open and close your floor vents your humidifier will use much less water and you'll get less white dust and not have to clean your humidifier as often. The Ecoflap also makes use of distilled water much more convenient and affordable - again since your humidifier will use less water with an Ecoflap. Distilled water should completely stop white dust and white mineral deposits from building up inside your humidifier.

    • @stadlerform
      @stadlerform  5 років тому
