      Awesome.
      I'm glad it helped.
      There is an issue with the latest ffmpeg though. GIFs don't render !
      If you don't need GIFs, then it won't be a problem.
      Or if it works for you, then this has been fixed.

    Ffmpeg precomputing rendering question. Hopefully someone can answer. Im using Opentoonz 1.5 and heard the 1.5 build doesnt work as well as Opentoonz nightly build. In 1.5 when I click 'render', the precomputing 'frames' never starts, it goes for hours. I even went from precomputing 1000 frames to precomputing 50 frames. Nothing.... Any ideas ?

    • @DarrenTAnims

      There's a couple of things you can try.
      Increasing your ffmpeg timeout can often help.
      If you can, add OpenToonz to your graphic card's high performance options.
      Failing that, you can render to an image sequence (this week's video) and then assemble your images to a video file in a video editor, in OpenToonz itself or using ffmpeg on the command line.

      I'm not sure what you've done. You mention pasting something in the OpenToonz Stuff folder. Are you moving the exe's from the ffmpeg bin folder? If so, then just add that directory to OpenToonz and it'll find them. If you're not seeing MP4 then you most likely haven't pointed to the folder with the exe's in.

    Hi Darren, I have been watching your videos and learning Opentoonz for a few weeks now. I have just run into one problem recently I hope you can help. I was doing a project and it was set on autosave after every 5 minutes. Opentoonz crashed and when i opened the tnz file, that was autosaved, the file opened in the software but is now un-editable, how do i make it work?? plz help
    thanks

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  Рік тому

      What part is uneditable?
      I've never had this before, but it sounds like one of the files is corrupted. You could start a new scene and re-import the drawings into it, rebuilding your scene.
      Personally, I never use auto-save. I've heard about too many problems with it. It can save while you're partway through drawing or anything. Plus, I like to save when I'm ready, at specific times during my work.

      Hi. Unless you've turned the option off, you can just click to a new frame and start drawing. Or you can start a new level from the timeline toolbar button, or the New level option in the Level menu.

    Is there anyway to make audio work on lower framerates? I try to go down from 24 fps and the audio turns choppy, i haven't found anyone else talk about it and it would be lifesaving to learn a way to fix it

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  3 роки тому +1

      The trick is to set your scene's fps BEFORE adding your audio. As you add your audio, it is split into fps sized pieces, which means that if you change your fps, each piece won't play the same. So if you've changed your mind about your fps, you have to remove the audio and re-add it, so the play speed can be used to calculate each frame's size.

    • @elfertrn

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  Рік тому

      Ffmpeg is only used when importing or exporting, so doesn't affect runtime speed.
      The newer versions might run slightly more efficient or produce slightly better results, not your unlikely to tell.
      If the version you've got works and you can render with it, then use it.

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  2 роки тому

      If the path isn't saving, it sounds like an issue with either windows permissions or your anti-virus program stopping access to the settings folder.
      1. In File Explorer, find and right-click the stuff folder (default C:\OpenToonz stuff)
      Select Properties and click on the Security tab
      In the top box, make sure your login is listed there and when you click on it it shows you have Full access. If your login is missing, you will need to add it with full control.
      2. or check your anti-virus software. Try disabling it temporarily to see if that is the issue. If it is, you will need to add Opentoonz to the exception list.

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  3 роки тому

      When you render, if you open your Output Settings, you can tell OpenToonz which frames to render, so just enter 1 to 10 in there. And you can also choose the file type, file name and many other options.

    • @DarrenTAnims
      @DarrenTAnims  3 роки тому

      I don't think there's a file size limit. The only reason I know of audio files showing as a single frame is when the audio is encoded as 32bit, which isn't supported. You have to convert it to 8bit or 16bit in an audio editor, like Audacity, before adding it.

    It knows that it is in the project somewhere (idk if there is a project manager), but I can't find it. And when I try to import again it says "this file already exists. Overwrite, etc."

    • @DarrenTAnims

      When you first add an audio track, it creates a column in the timeline for it. If you delete that column, then the audio file is still remembered in the scene. You can remove it from the "Cast List" if you want to (open that window from the Windows menu). But if you drag it in again, then choose to overwrite it, you should see a column added for it.

      @@DarrenTAnims thanks for the reply but the issue remains if I drag and drop it again.

      If you're a member in my Discord you can share a screenshot of your menu there. I might have the name wrong.
      However, even with the file taken out of your cast list, it should re-add it hen you drag it in again, so I'm guessing it's a problem with your audio file format. OpenToonz can be fussy about the bit rate of your audio, so that's more likely the culprit on this occasion. If you can change the bit rate in an audio editing program or try a different audio track, that could be a track to a solution.

      If you have an NVIDIA graphics card and can do this, this will make OpenToonz run smoother.
      1. Open the NVIDIA Control panel (Right click on the desktop > NVIDIA Control Panel)
      2. Click on Manage 3D Settings
      3. Switch to Program Settings tab
      4. Add OpenToonz.exe to list of programs (You might have to click Add or browse to the program)
      5. Select the High Performance NVIDIA Processor (Not all control panels have this High Performance option)
      Mark OpenToonz or Tahoma to run in High Performance mode in Windows
      1. Press the Windows key, type "Graphics Settings".
      2. Open the Graphics Settings app
      3. Choose OpenToonz.exe or Tahoma.exe from the drop down (or browse to it)
      4. Choose High Performance mode
      After doing these, restart OpenToonz.
      If these don't help, try rendering to PNG. This will give you an image sequence that you can add into a video editor to render to a video, or back into a new scene in OpenToonz, to re-render out to a video.

      If you're sure you know where the file should be then it might be worth trying with a new, very simple, scene. Just to check if it can write any file there. It to with different file types, mp4 and png.
      If not then it'll be an issue with your version of ffmpeg.
      Of you can't fix that, then you'll have to render to an image sequence (png) and use a new scene to combine those into agif or a video editor or ffmpeg direct to do so.
