- I wanted to make use of the wasted space in the attic without breaking the bank so i had a go myself. Please note that this conversion is not to building regs and therefore would not be classed as another bedroom if you was selling etc etc, but this definitely was another bedroom for us. Thankyou for watching.
I really like this. The stairs were great and the new finished hallway and door were total pro
Thank you for your kind words.
You just gave me ideas for my attic. We have about the same height and space
This is a brilliant job, really inspiring job
Hey great job How much does a project like this cost and how much sqft
Very cool, how has it held up over the years? maybe an update video would be cool to see?
Very nice and inspiring! Looking to buy and wanting to find something to do this type of project to add sqft and space for kids🙏🏻
I hope you are on your way with your project. Thank you for your kind comments.
I absolutely love this ,now I have an idea of what to do with my attic
Nice video. Did you add any extra support to the roof structure when you cut out and fitted the Velux window?
I have loads of Wood supporting the roof that come on the floor can they be removed and support added. Same as your old picture of loft
How do you keep the attic cool in summer?
all that is really well done. i have a huge attic with just a small ceiling door. would love to use the attic more. how much did all that cost you ? apron?
I think its cost me around £2500 but that was just for materials as i carried out the works myself. Thanks for your kind comments.
What was your initial ridge height and finished head height at the highest points?
What was the original and finished head height please? Looks great!
It was approximately 7ft' before and because we added a straight support piece from rafter to rafter we had approximately just under 6ft in the middle of the room. Thank you for your kind words.
@poveycarpentryandkitchens thank you
Did you have to put any steels in, how did you load the weight down?
Don't think he did, that is my main concern doing my loft , joists aren't meant to have weight walking over them
Added new floor joists from wall plate to supporting wall either side which are 1 inch higher than original joists so the new floor would not add any pressure to ceilings below and the new floor would be completely independent and not add any weight etc to roof structure.
Looking at the roof construction is it a 1950/60 uk house
That's absolutely correct 1955
Did you add any roof vents to the sides with the storage?
The roof had tiles had a few vented tiles.
Is the floor just 2x4’s?
What was the size of your loft in sq ft?
@@GoluSmith-gg9fk approximately 21 m2 mate
@ thank you!
How wide are the stairs?
Approximately 800mm. Thanks
