Caruso, is an italian song, written, composed and performed in 1986 by Lucio Dalla as a tribute to Enrico Caruso, the most famous tenor of his time (late 19th / early 20th century). He was the first global singing superstar. The story is about the last days of Enrico Caruso, he knows he is dying, and he is remembering all his career on stage and telling his much younger wife how much he loves her. It has very quickly become a classic of italia music and the biggest names have covered it (Julio Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Josh Groban, …. and of course Luciano Pavarotti). But for many, Lara's version from the concert From Lara With Love 2000 ua-cam.com/video/BP2KnLemT78/v-deo.html is the best ever, as she was able, with her unique ability to convey the emotions of a song, to reveal the real sad story written by Lucio Dalla. I was told that Lucio Dalla himself, after hearing this performance, said that she made it her song and this is the best version he has heard from it. For Lara, this song is really important as this is a kind of anthem for Italy, and she is so much connected to this country. She spent the first few years of her life there with her sicilian mother and grandma. Her husband is also sicilian. She also as been living there for the past few months since the end of 2022.
Ciao, LUCIO DALLA ha visto questa esibizione di LARA e più volte ha commentato che la versione di LARA era la migliore cover in assoluto che avesse mai ascoltato e tutte le volte piangeva di gioia 😂 Ciao, tanti saluti.
Thank you for your super reaction of my Queen Madam Lara Fabian . Enrico Caruso . his name . Yes now she is in world tour in 2023 and she have again her nice and superb voice . Broken Vow that she wrote , when she knew than she had to break up with this man she loved . She was in San-Francisco at the time .
Once again the very beautiful , strong but velvety voice of Lara Fabian.. Lara speaks Italian fluent as one of her native languages Lara understands every meaning of every word and phrase in the song. That's why she can put her own emotions in every word.
Great reaction! I strongly recommend "Perdere l'amore", from the same concert. It's also in Italian and to me even more beautiful, although everything from Lara is amazing. She could sing the phonebook with ultimate passion if she wanted to.

« The most emotional storyteller ». You stated it perfectly. The breath was a technic she used at this moment of her career then she moved away from this but totally kept her emotional and soul fueling capabilities. She still has it nowadays. You can check her recent concerts from 2022 and 2023, and it’s still there. I recommend you next Requiem pour un fou, another side of her, a duet where she destroys a 80,000 stadium ua-cam.com/video/zR1rkt_0biA/v-deo.html
Gracias!
Lara Fabian is one of my all time favourit singers. The most wonderful voice of her generation. I saw her concert in Tallin in october 2022. She is still going strong 53 years young. In some way she is the love of my life. Thank you for sharing her with us.
So happy you guys are back with the Diva Lara, you are only in her beginning ,mid-90's early 2000 , she wrote 16 albums, 30 millions album sold and still doing world tours in 2023. At 53yo she is just as gorgeous and her voice is still at her top. In Russia she is #1 , in Brazil, in France, so many singers (male and female) did covers of many of her songs. A classy lady , very closed and friendly with her fans. By the way, she was my neighbor in Magog Québec Province. Yesssss i have bias, but she deserved all the love from us all.
as ericsicard910 commented below, "Caruso" was written to honor Enrico Caruso, the great Italian tenor who died young, shortly after his daughter was born.....this piece imagines Caruso's last words to his wife and his daughter........"Te voglio bene assai' (I love you very much)....originally written for a male tenor, all the great (and near great) male and female operatic performers have sung this piece.....btw, her Mum is Italian, so it is her inherited language........
Écouter perdere amor et you're not from here. Éric sicard dans un de c'est commentaire vous avez fait une liste à écouter. Vous serez jamais déçu par lara ,puisque qu'elle chante toute cedt chanson de la même manière, même encore en 2023
To me she's a top tier performer, and certainly one of my favorite singers ever. I adore her voice, she doesn't go to crazy high notes but her TONE and CONTROL are unmatched, particularly for ballads.
Absolutely no question as to why Dimash fell in love with her early in his life. I would almost bet he still carries a well hidden torch for her though it was not so much hidden when he, Lara and Aida Garifullina sang together at a big Happy Birthday bash for Igor Krutoy.
It's exactly what you say. The American pop music sales thing is taking over. We used to have our own music scene here in Europe, and we still do. But it is this part of the trade, the quasi operatic singing, the bel canto, that is something that is starting to die here also.
I've seen Lara in Montreal. So emotional. The second she starts singing, she just draws you in, like she's only singing for you. I cried the whole time but I wouldn't change anything. When I go to a concert, I want to feel something and did I feel something! ❤❤
You can file that “Donald” Caruso with the Je Suis “Marmalade “ comment !🤣🤣 TRULY had me ROFL!! But,guess what? It makes me love you guys even more! Keep up the great reactions!! ❤️❤️
Lara is a good singer and a good performer. You have good performers that can’t sing well and you have good singers that perform not well. But when those two things combine it’s just perfect! It takes you into the story and you flow on the notes while getting emoted by the lyrics.
The difference between Lara and everyone else from her (and my own) generation is that she was trained on Bel Canto. She's a cross between Barbara Streisand and Maria Callas. She's a singer's singer.
Heard so many sing this song. And for a long time it was both Dalla and Pavarotti the best. As it is written for a man to sing. But Lara really sang with the level of drama this song should have. As it is about a man on his last days of his life. She's by far the best since she sing as if she's living her last hours, almost crying and is telling a story. She doesn't only sing. She's living the song.
Folks, I agree Lara is incredible and that song is beautiful. You mentioned that they don’t make singers like her anymore. I beg to differ and as proof, please look into Emma Kok singing “Voila”
Bravo. Great reaction, great song, greatest artist. FYI - It is important to understand the lyrics, with the backstory even, and Lara's brilliant interpretation becomes even more poignant. The song is about Enrico Caruso, but some may not know the rest of the story behind the song, the subject, the author, and this songs writing. Caruso, the greatest tenor of the early modern era was so big, such a massive international star, he was Elvis, Pavarotti and Michael Jackson in one. He died young in 1921 but he made it to the phonogram era so his amazing voice was captured and he was nearly individually responsible for phonograph sales among the wealthy in those very early days. Everyone had to get one so they could listen to Caruso and invite their friends over. The author, Lucio Dalla, imagined those final dying days with his young wife (with whom he had a very public affair - she was an heiress). He mentions a room, on a terrace, on the Gulf of Surrento that Caruso and his wife actually stayed at often and which Dalla visited. FYI - Lara sings "Surrientto" instead of Surrento, not a mistake it is quit purposeful, as Neapolitan Italians - Caruso was born in Napoli - pronounce it that way. Lara. Misses. NOTHING! -- It is a love song, a deep love song, but a tear jerker as well. A masterpiece by our Queen, long may she reign. A quick side note: I adore Luciano Pavarotti, and "adore" barely scratches the surface. I am a child of the Pavarotti Era and we all worshipped him, live, I remember seeing him live like it was yesterday. There have been only two voices that can make me tear up just hearing them. Luciano and Lara. Luciano's "Caruso" is traditional, he uses the high notes at the end of phrases to go big. She uses them to go angelic. Her interpretation is vastly different. And in all do respect - molto rispetto - to the Maestro, I like Lara's better. Beautiful song, beautifully...masterfully done, in perfect Italian by Lara. Covered by many artists, even the author says this is Lara's song now... She has you now, as she has all of us.
There aren't enough words to describe this phenomenal artistry. Every performance a Master Class of story telling, nuance and passion. And that's before we even BEGIN to talk about the sheer stunning beauty of her voice and her highly developed vocal skills! 🤩😍
Love your reactions to the incredible Lara. I've been blessed to have seen her in concert a baker's dozen times from late 90's through last summer in various venues in Canada, Europe, and USA. She has never disappointed. Yes, her voice is exceptional but you are right on point in that as a performer, she is unequaled in my opinion. Thank you so much for your reactions
That is awesome! Since discovering her I think she is far better than some of the famous singers we grew up listening to in the US. I think most of them are very overrated in comparison. Taylor and I discussed this off camera, the spotlight is solely on Lara in these performances. She is able to captivate and hold your attention the entire time just by herself where artists nowadays need dancers, set effects, and lighting. I agree with you she is unequaled!
@@Killermcknight I hope you get to see her in concert at some point. Even now in her early 50's, she hasn't lost a step. Of all her performances I 've been able to attend, the Tout Intimite concert at the Olympia Theatre (literally, my favorite venue in the world) in Paris winter of 2003 was truly incredible. It's a combination of Lara's compositions, french standards and even Celine Dion's biggest hit in French (Pour que tu m'aime encore) :-) When my late wife & I left the theater that evening we were truly drained. This is not for reaction but thought you both would enjoy it over a weekend evening (or several - take it in doses). Plus huge kudos to the person who took the time to translate the ENTIRE concert into English (I realize you don't speak french). ua-cam.com/video/NMHym4N4UXo/v-deo.html
@@Killermcknight Sorry, one more thought. Yes, Lara does a lot of emotional work but she does fun, upbeat as well 🙂 This is a duet hit she recorded with Italian pop star Gigi D'Alessio. This performance is in Italian (sorry no translation) and at the Olympia Paris in 07 when Lara was pregnant ua-cam.com/video/bJrHlLkXtho/v-deo.html
Like your reactions ....!!!! Please react also to Ms. Lara Fabian other 2 songs she performed in her " From Lara With Love 2000 ' concert . These two are " You're Not From Here " and " Love By Grace " .... Thank you very much for taking time reacting to my fave DIVA .....!!!
Lara is a lyric Soprano who has sung in 12 languages, 4 of which she is fluent in ! Besides the power in her voice, every syllable of every word, in every sentence, of every lyric (no matter which language) is clear and precise in every song !.Lara is the only singer on planet earth to sing from her soul to our soul. Top vocaliste in the world...
Enrico Caruso. The song Caruso written by Lucio Dalla also exceptional! But Lara sings it beautifully!❤️ We as Quebecers are immensely proud of her. We just adore her! You also need to watch her 2002 Nue live performance. Je t’aime(I love you). It’s nothing you’ve ever seen. It’ll give you a humongous amount of chills, feeling of love an artist can never expect. Please watch this.🥰❤️
Broken vow! A song she wrote after her break up with then husband Gérard Pullicino who cheated on her. She absolutely describes in her singing the true feelings she felt at that time. 😓 His lost her gain. She also gained her beautiful daughter through that relationship. ❤️❤️
I wished all the best song writers of this world write one song for her. She is an amazing songwriter but I only wished they gave her some of their stuff and let her make it her own.❤️
Enrico Caruso, who was a famous lyric singer at the beginning of the 20th century... in the cae you didn't get a previous reply. And yes, interpreted by our most favourite female vocalist, Lara Fabian.
when you think she's at the maximum power level and emotion of her voice, she's show you the real way of her power - She sing in italian better than real italian people.from France with love🥰
Loved your thoughtful review which probed into Lara's "essence". When you see so many commentators below refer to her as the "Queen" you 'd think they are exaggerating or just crazy. But they are not. Even more, she is the EMPRESS. And her multilingual From Lara with Love concert is IMO one of the greatest solo concerts ever.
Hands down this is by far the best performance of "Caruso"; Pavarotti, Bocelli, Iglesias, et al can take a back seat! Enrico Caruso (25 February 1873 - 2 August 1921). Her performance at the Mandalay in 2010 (introduced by David Foster as "A voice from another planet...a voice that is at the top of the heap of great voices"). She has aged like fine wine! ua-cam.com/video/QhSYXEXYNG0/v-deo.html
FYI Lara had a contract with Sony. Sony at the time wanted her to change her style as Celine Dion was popular at the time She refuse to succumb to their terms hence goodbye to North America hello to Europe. Here is the funny part, Celine grew in Quebec, Canada near Montreal. Lara, Belgian born came to Montreal, Quebec, Canada to find and search for her dreams of becoming a singer Lara became a Canadian Citizen and both her and Celine were part of our every day world. What are the odds that both singers became great artist and world re known in two different parts of the world yet lived within the same place within a 10 to 15-mile range. It would be cruel to compare both singers. However, I feel Lara's story is more compelling because her struggle was more difficult. I also feel her impact is more viable, yet all true artists will stand the test of time!
It's interesting when people says that Celine Dion is better than Lara.. Poor fools... Check out Celine Dion 's version of Caruso.. Yes she did sing it, and the video in on UA-cam... And compare them... Beside the fact that Lara's italian is amazing and she lives this song with all her body and soul... Check out how plain and empty is Celine' s version.... Or people is deaf , or they got serious problems... 😮
Don't know if you've checked out Je Suis Malade - Well anything else she does comes in a distant second to it -- The Greatest Live Performance I've ever seen by FAR !!!
Its not possible to do this better than Lara! Whatever your name is Pavarotti or Jussi Björling. Period! The industry dont prior talents they cant put in their moneymaking little box. Great reaction and interesting thoughts from both of you. Thanks 🙏
I could be mistaken but it seems that no one has mentioned Caruso's first name, which you guys asked for. In case you haven't found out yet, his first name was Enrico. He was and probably still is the most famous opera singer of all time with the most powerful voice ever. He put opera on the world map. He sung to large audiences without a microphone and was rumored to be able to break glass with his voice.
Lara's songs are rich and varied 15 records over 140 songs don't be content with her early live performances from the 2000s with these vocal performances Lara is much more than that some spectacular tracks "I an a Wa"ua-cam.com/video/mKLdLox918A/v-deo.html "l'oubli"ua-cam.com/video/3ob-a4tPNcg/v-deo.html "dance"ua-cam.com/video/nHYi7rYD1yk/v-deo.html "par amour"ua-cam.com/video/rjrTd8VeP64/v-deo.html "tango" ua-cam.com/video/9p1UrKzYti0/v-deo.html "papillon"ua-cam.com/video/dzWit_mevK0/v-deo.html and many more to discover. Absolutely agreed !!! As reactors...YOU , will be uncompleted, You've now done a first step...NOW..walk thru the doorway, for the complete.......... experience !! 🤙🐺🧙♂️🦊👍
I would like you to react to a song by Diana Navarro " El perdón " She is a very versatile Spanish singer. She sings different musical styles. She has a melismas and a capacity to sing with very long notes. She always transmits with her face and gestures. Best regards
This Song is about Enrico Caruso, a famous italian Opera singer, who moved to the USA. The Song was written by Lucio Dalla and became very famous in Italy.
Thank you for reacting to Lara ❤ One of my absolute favorites is Perdere l'amore ua-cam.com/video/mcmhCfH9OfQ/v-deo.html Love Lara ❤ Love from Denmark ❤

Hi. New subscriber but not new to your channel. You are great at this. As a bad ass Metal musican I really love Lara. Have you listened to her version of Je t’aime Live in Paris 2001? I recommend you to do it, and bring tissues. Lots of tissues😊 It”s fenomenal. Cheers from Sweden…
If Lara sang that the sky is green and grass is blue I'd believe her!
I’d believe her too! ❤
As you should! :)

Best version of Caruso ever. I wish Lucio would’ve listened to it. He would’ve loved it i’m sure

Another fantastic performance by our queen of emotional singing. Her duet with Johnny Hallyday, that Eric mentioned, is epic.

I recommend you next Requiem pour un fou, another side of her, a duet where she destroys a 80,000 stadium

I concur! Requiem pour un fou next.

Her tone around 4:08-4:09 is the most beautiful tone i ever heard coming out of a human mouth. Everything is divine but that tone stands out.
Pure angel ♥️
I agree. Its purity hits me every time.
Lara is very committed. She practices on average two hours a day, and also an hour before every concert.

She is masterful with the microphone, its so exquisite how smooth the volume and quality is throughout the song.

tearjerker scale? 11 out of 10
lara has a one hell of a sence of humor too
There aren't enough words to describe this phenomenal artistry.

@@Killermcknight Sorry, one more thought. Yes, Lara does a lot of emotional work but she does fun, upbeat as well 🙂 This is a duet hit she recorded with Italian pop star Gigi D'Alessio. This performance is in Italian (sorry no translation) and at the Olympia Paris in 07 when Lara was pregnant

(Adagio,) you have to react!!! Lara is phenomenal! You won't be sorry. It's her song!
🇨🇦 If you haven't already, you must react to Lara singing "You're not from here" !
Bring Tissues !
I love her sooo much she helped me survive bigg hart a nother song quedate in spanisch i am from curacao the caribbean🇨🇼🇨🇼🇨🇼❣️❣️
God Lara, how can you sing so, so well? She is extraordinary, simply the best.
I will guarantee that you will definitely cry if you listen to Je t'aime she performed in Paris
Caruso was like Pavarotti, world famous tenor, i read he was one of the first to make a record so it must've been early 1900's
Enrico Caruso. The song Caruso written by Lucio Dalla also exceptional! But Lara sings it beautifully!❤️
We as Quebecers are immensely proud of her.
She is an amazing songwriter but I only wished they gave her some of their stuff and let her make it her own.❤️
She is Lara Fabian, enough said!
Caruso is considered by many to have been the greatest opera singer ever, and this song is about him.
Una canción hermosa que solo el sentimiento puede superar todo ,lara the voices ..majistral
Utterly beautiful ❤❤❤
Even when she breathe sound beautiful
Loved your thoughtful review which probed into Lara's "essence". When you see so many commentators below refer to her as the "Queen" you 'd think they are exaggerating or just crazy. But they are not. Even more, she is the EMPRESS. And her multilingual From Lara with Love concert is IMO one of the greatest solo concerts ever.
This couple + Lara Fabian reacts is so cool. More Lara
Sunteti asa de expresivi...❤ Si eu plang la melodiile ei...!
Esta es una de las canciones italianas más bellas!! Lara es fantástica, deberían verla cuando cantó con #Dimash: TI AMO COSI (She sing whit Dimash)
Thank you for that. Loved your reaction.
dont forget that italian writers write songs with so much emotions and feelins
She is just amazing!
In an interview on Canadian TV, she said that she like it when people react, like you did, to her videos...
YES you get into your french vibe, a world opens up to you, are you ready ?
Muito bom !!! Sou fã da Lara.
Thanks 🙏
Love you guys x
We love you too! 😁
Gosh thank you for responding X
The composer is Lucio Dalla.
Lara's songs are rich and varied 15 records over 140 songs
don't be content with her early live performances from the 2000s
with these vocal performances
Lara is much more than that

Enrico Caruso. Thats the name!
I would like you to react to a song by Diana Navarro " El perdón " She is a very versatile Spanish singer. She sings different musical styles. She has a melismas and a capacity to sing with very long notes. She always transmits with her face and gestures. Best regards
👏👏👏👏👏
I think you are thinking about Luciano Pavarotti. The song was written by Lucio Dalla. Lara is still the best. Sorry Pavarotti.
