I wanted to dive into this palette, and figure it out! Overall, I love the shades, but definitely had to switch up my application technique. I will be mixing and matching with ND’s Love palette for sure!

oh I did comparison swatches between the gunmetal stack and the dark end of the palette and the mattes builds well but like you said the shimmer needs extra love along with the light shimmer in the stack. BUT those dark shimmers whoa baby....I always do my eyes first when doing anything with the gunmetal stack due to fall out but geez louise they are INtense! and I am here for it!
kinkysweat you shouldn’t have to work this hard for a palette to work. I’m gonna pass. It’s not my color story and it appears to to be a hard palette to work with.
Alicia, I don’t know if it’s me but... I think their stacks are so much better. Which, kind of keeps me away from the palettes. I just expected a certain quality now, no exceptions.

I just don’t understand why the MELT Palettes are so hit-or-miss. If less expensive brands like Juvia’s Place & ColourPop can nail shimmers & metallics, why can’t MELT🤷🏽♀️
Sheila King I was just going to say this. The inconsistency drives me crazy. It definitely makes me want to just not purchase from them anymore. I don’t understand why their shimmer formula especially always have so many issues. I feel like a decent shimmer and foil formula is the easiest to formulate.
peets96 Right? I always hear how difficult it is to make a good matte formula, but not good shimmers! Wet-N-Wild has good shimmers. Well, looks like another palette that will end up on the Sephora Sale 🤦🏽♀️

I always love how beautiful the color stores are for these Melt palettes. They're so creative and make you want to experiment with some fun color combinations. But the quality of the shimmers always gets me. I ended up passing on the Gemini palette and returning the Smoke Sessions because even though the shades were absolutely gorgeous, genuinely nothing I've seen before (at the time) and so well curated, the shimmer shades were so flaky and dry textured as you mentioned the shimmers were in this palette. I may just be a bit spoiled from the Natasha Denona shimmer formula, but even mid range brands like ABH have some great shimmer formulas. That being said, their mattes are (usually) really great! I've heard the stacks formula is much better, but with that non-palette format, I know I'll never reach for it. Thanks for the thorough review as usual! :)
PS: this palette looks so much like the Huda New Nudes palette, so if anyone's enticed by the pink side of this Melt palette, the Huda one may be a great alternative!
I agree but for me, the huda palette faded super fast and at my age, it takes me longer to apply the shadows then they lasted 😉
I agree on all accounts. I do think the Smoke Sessions was better than Gemini I regards to the metallics. It’s a shame because as you said, Melt’s color stories are beautiful phenomenal and truly creative. But that metallic formula 😪

Hello Alicia and all Kinkysweat fans!! I am so happy to see you reviewing this palette and my ears perked up when you mentioned, "..Muerte, but that's another video." X-D I am a huge fan of Melt's shadows!! I feel that their shimmers work like an absolute dream when they are wet. I press them on my lid and then gently blend them out. It stays on all day and reflects the light beautifully. I hope this helps.

The look of the palette and the colors are so stunning, Melt does an excellent job putting the colors together and the art work in their palettes, but definitely I was able to se the quality of the shadows and it’s just not worth it when they are so many great brands out there for about the same price, thank you for this review,

The modern love looked really great on you, and with the lip and the earrings had that monochromatic vibe going. Gonna keep my eye out for a single shade like that. Looking forward to Muerte as that's more up my alley.
I love everything Melt...but imma wait for a sale. I think the impulsive palette was really overlooked but it's so wonderful! It's like the DNA of Melt in one palette. And the shade poppin bottles is out of this world.😝 I wish it was talked about more on YT but oh well...I'm enjoying it😋! Great looks😍

Wild, we've loved every look my daughter and I have done with this palette. But that's what makes us all different is these little things like this. I and my daughter literally have everything Melt has ever nade aside from Radioactive and even then I have it in stack form aside from the yellow. My daughter just said it was easier for her and the looks she's done has been soft and easy TO her. BUT I have to say we BOTH love the ABH Subculture palette too *shrug* LOL I just find it funny though because Alicia and I both seem to absolutely LOVE the same ND and PMG palettes and I think another brand too that is escaping me atm. ahhhhh....It just makes me so happy to hear that *gasp* hi friends! every single time. I think melt has one of the most interesting color stories and amazing packaging, edgy like urban decay used to be. I'm always curious to see what's next from the brand... the thing is that, for me, the looks you can do with their palettes are dated to its release period. In some months no one will have deep gray with bright pinks over the eyes. I'm not talking about season x or y, but fast trends, with a palette that is $50.

I am super surprised about how lackluster this palette is but none the less I still love melt cosmetics I find them to have the most unique color stories I would love it if you would do a review on the Impulsive palette that would be great😆! Ithas such beautiful color story but I get lost sometimes in what ones to use together, any chance you'll be able to make a video about the Impulsive palette?

Love this review❤️thank you!! I’ve been avoiding Melt since I never know what we’re going to get at each release. Low buy not in jeopardy! I’m disappointed in the Valentine’s Day offerings this year, none made my heart flutter except Natasha’s and the mixed reviews fixed that fast. You could make a dupe millennial pink palette of far superior quality using Colour pop and coastal scents singles.
p.s. I’m going to try recreating the left eye look using the viseart cool mattes original, there’s a bluish gray and pale pink matte in that one...

I completely forgot I have the Baby Girl stack! I have a love/hate with Melt...starting with Gemini. I have never used the shimmers from Gemini, 27, Blue Matter...

Really liked the look of this palette (and love the Muerte) but the looks I really want from it are your 3rd and 4th and I think I can get them with a combination of Natasha Denonas Love and Purple Blue palettes. Thanks for saving me some money!

I love this color story so much 😭😭😭 why can’t the palette be good
I was looking forward to your video on this. I played around with this palette the other day and it definitely requires work. It's funny to me because they swatch so well for me and I have no problems with Gemini or Smoke Sessions. Honestly I feel kinda bad recommending this to you after actually applying them on my lids and seeing how fussy the shades are. It's a shame they couldn't nail it for this palette but I am still a fan of the brand overall.
I literally have almost everything they have ever made and I love the palettes and the stacks. I just feel like when Dana ( who is super sweet) is left to her own devices we get a meh palette (27 palette, Vida) that takes time to understand . That said, we , as collectors, need to abandon the idea that a palette stands alone. That is not always the case with melt. The palettes work beautifully with each other and the stacks. This palette looks like it would be perfect with her side of the impulsive palette. I made a dark skin friendly version of this palette using the stacks ( I have them all). When this goes on super sale though I will get it. Though I have them, over the top shimmers are not always the elegant choice.
I have my eye on Impulsive: maybe it will go on sale in the future 🤓

I kept going back and forth on buying it because the ND Love palette disappointed me, but now I’m glad I waited for your review so my heart wasn’t broken yet again.
Do you have any plans to try the Viseart palette? Viseart seems really reliable but then and again I thought the same about Natasha’s palettes too.

Thanks for this!! I love the looks you came up with, you made this palette work, but for such a pretty palette they definitely missed the mark with the quality on some of these shades. I like melt cosmetics too, the smoke sessions palette was nice. This is disappointing....but on Friday can you please talk about devacurl and the chaos happening right now with it. Are you still using your devacurl products?? I’m scared to use mine now.

Hi Alicia! Not interested in this palette, not cuz of quality, but cuz of the color story. I guess I was one of the lucky ones that got a great quality ND Love palette so I'm good with pinks. And I know for a fact I can find these colors in my collection. Look at me being responsible with my money!!!!! Anyway, I notice that these seem to be more of a Korean quality eyeshadow. They prefer sheer washes of colors and thin metallics like that. Metallics that just leave a sheer sparkle on the lid rather than in-your-face bright chrome color punches. I'm sure - absolutely positive, in fact - that it wasn't Melt's intention to make "Korean style" eyeshadows, that's just how I noticed they behave. 🤷♀️🤣😍😍😍😍 But even though I was not interested in this I love watching a nice, detailed instructional video from Alicia!!!!!😄😄😄
I hear you on that theory! But I feel even lighter textured shadows would still be better performing. Even if they’re supposed to be more of a veil of shimmer versus full blown foil, they would still stick and not be as crumbly. I feel, anyway. Great review as always ! Glad I didn’t purchase this. It sucks you can’t combine a lot of the matte shades and the metallics are flaky. I loved the aesthetic of it though. I really did. It’s gorgeous. But I have an excellent idea to achieve a similar look - combine the Divine Rose with light grey and charcoal grey shadows from other palettes or singles. I love the shades of pink and mauve from DR and combining them with grey could look quite beautiful!! You still made some beautiful looks though 😊😊 Do you have the gunmetal stack from Melt?
This is my first time trying Melt shadows.
I’m having the exact opposite experience of everyone’s reviews. The palette blends and layers beautifully, the Stacks are a hot mess😢.
Is there a quality control issue?

We love ours too. But we honestly love everything Melt does. The glosses are gorgeous too BUT the glitter you can feel. Not a huge fan of that.

It's beautiful BUT for a gorgeous glitter infused gloss that doesn't feel gritty the one from Dose of colors in the Desi and katy x dose of colors isn't gloopy, lasts longer than other glosses i've tried and in the sunlight that glitter POPS. When I was a truly gorgeous gloss with glitter I always reach for that one. Though, I'd LOVE to try mama Pat's O.O it's soooooo pretty!
Colour story is interesting, I love how Melt designs palettes. I don't think I have the energy to use this for the price, I also rarely wear pink anyways.

Girl you made this palette look fabulous. I ordered it of mercari for $28. I wanted it when it launched but heard the reviews and decided not to. But after watching this I think ill be able to make it work now once I get it.
I love the looks! I love using a glitter glue with melts shimmer shades that aren't so great. It makes them pop so much more than with a normal shadow primer/concealer. Personally, I don't think for the price, this palette is worth it. Melt has so many more amazing shadows. This was definitely a fail for me, sadly 😭
I like this colour story. Always looking forward to not being interested in buying a palette. Maybe I will find some stellar singles from an Indy brand and build a similar palette.
I'll admit, I ended up getting the Gemini palette after watching your old video of it and I love it, even though it's definitely a flawed palette and the shimmers are.... well, there lol
This palette did catch my eye, but I do think it's a lot of work that has to be done for the price. I really wish Melt would get their quality together as they have some of my favorite color stories and I feel there's a lot of love & care in the brand... just not in the quality control. I am intrigued to hear that the Impulsive palette has better shimmers as that one has caught my eye for a while, but the color scheme is a bit overwhelming to me.

There's always so much hype around Melt. Their packaging and colorstories SLAY, but the formula...I just can not deal with it. Gemini is one of the most expensive palettes I've ever purchased but it's so tricky to use, I barely use it. But I'm going to try to use your tips with it: use a stiffer brush and lay the darker shade down first and blend out with the lighter shade.
Incredible how crappy this palette is! You did a great job creating looks despite of the lack of quality. I’m so surprised because I have the Vida palette and I love it, how can’t they keep the good formula going? Anyway, thank you so much for the video! 💖
The difference I think is this palette was mostly Dana's love child, as is the 27 palette and the Muerte palettes as well as Gemini palette was Lora's love child - not sure how they really go thru the process but that's the only differences I can think of in those palettes.
And I’ve been playing with Muerte and it’s light years better. Nuts how inconsistent it is 😪

Who does their quality control is what I want to know. Maybe it's time to start asking the question: does it really need to be an ultra matte or can we go with usable matte instead?
For someone who has to me, a very honest straight forward, unbiased opinion on all products presented and very RARELY says a bad word about the majority of her first impressions to say something is 'trash' then it must be pretty bad. (a run-on sentence I know) I have one melt stack the neutral one...I like it. But I guess pink is a difficult color to make right...I don't know...But I trust Alicia's take on it entirely.
And I gave it a chance! I tried it thoroughly before I filmed, and man 🤦🏽♀️
