On)y problem is - When you're doing this totally alone at home/have NO ONE available to simply help with RINSING, it's incredibly difficult (it's been IMPOSSIBLE for me) to ensure you don't accidentally rinse the sections that are still processing. (I do have a detachable shower head...but still haven't been able to rinse just one section of hair without making a huge mess of both my bathroom and my hair project.) Any tips other than "find a good friend who's willing to help you"?😩😊
Hi there, thanks for watching. Hmmm, that’s a tricky one…whilst I’m an advocate of home colouring, bleaching can be super tricky on your own. I guess the only real advice I could give is to try and wipe as much bleach off of the sections/quadrants that have reached the desired lift as possible - this will slow the bleach right down. That particular tutorial was really intended as a step-by-step for pros…but a lot of the tips can be followed by peeps at home. I’m thrilled you watched it. Good luck!
What I do is break my head up into 12 sections and do 1 section at a time. If one of the foils in a section is done before the other ones (this is rare since my sections are so small) I have a hand towel that I use to wipe the bleach off of it and then put antioxy conditioner on just that section (its an acidic conditioner used to stop color or bleach from continuing their action). It takes longer, but gives me the most control as I am doing it myself. I also use the antioxy conditioner when doing roots just in case of any overlapping which also happens less due to the small sections. Also a 3 way mirror and/or a tall door mirror behind you is the most helpful.
@@peacefullyme848 Thank you SO MUCH for the advice! I've put it off so long that my new growth is absolutely ABHORRENT at this point, so I may have to temporarily chuck my frugality out the window, bite the bullet & cough up the $500 to have a professional handle it. (Women who say they WISH they had MORE &/or THICKER hair probably have NO IDEA just how much money THEY get to save at the salon! 😩)
Craig, without you, I would be much less fabulous lol. I'm stuck at a like, level 9.5! My hair still looks healthy, shiny, and still very soft, but it's not getting to that platinum I'm hungry for. I've only used 20v w/ flash lift, and not willing to up the v's. I shower cap and wrap in a towel for the heat, but I feel like I should be there already. Perhaps I'm stuck trying to foil myself lol. Any links of yours that might help??
Well I’m so pleased my content helps, that’s great. Controversial yet bold - I used Flash Lift you years (I’m a very loyal human) but in my opinion, it’s not a great bleach - Wella Blondor Granules/or Pravana Ultra are way better for lift (at 20 volume) and texture of the hair post lightening
@@theworldofcraig ah! I might have to delve into the Pravana world. I've been eyeballing their toners already! I just want to look like a Witcher girl for the rest of my life. I don't think that's too much to ask!
Hi Craig, thanks so much for posting this video. Just wondering if I can ask a little advice?. My natural hair is between a 7/8. Usually bleached highlights. But I'm looking to go one colour. So I'm planning on bleaching then toning with a mix of wella demi 8/81 and 9/86 to achieve a beige/pale natural looking blonde....does that sound like it will work? For a natural pale blonde...I don't want platinum or grey. Thank you for your help in advance 🙏
Hi there, you’re most welcome, thanks for watching. That’s quite an open question - converting from highlights to a global bleach can be tricky…not sure I’d recommend you doing it yourself. The toned you’ve picked are quite cool, for the sort of result you describe you would need to lift the hair pretty light (a level 9) so you’re not battling with warmth. Good luck.
Thank you very much for your reply. I've been watching videos for a few days now. Seeing which ones have the results I'm seeking. It seems I'd have to bleach my already bleached highlighted hair mid way to near the ends, then roots to avoid hot roots. I think I'm right in assuming it needs to be pale pale yellow before I rinse. Then use the 9/86 toner first and see how it looks. I know its difficult for you to advise, without seeing my hair, I do apologise and I'm grateful for your help 🙏
@@twinkle-toes7761 No problem, that’s what I’m here for. That’s right - apply to the mids first…my concern is the integrity of the hair that’s already highlighted, if it has already been overlapped it can easily be compromised. Yes, pale yellow is what you’d need to lift to…and be sure to apply LOTS of product.

Thank you…and thanks for watching. The VG’s are lovely - I guess you could say “baby” blonde is very much in the eye of the beholder right…so many different variations. When I’m globally blonde (I lift to a level 10) I generally use a dilution of 10/GI…and that’s near to baby to me. I have tried all the new additions to the SEQG line and it’s always great to have more choice but I don’t really use them so much as what we had for the first 30 years.

Hi there, thanks for watching. It depends on so many factors to be honest - how dark the base is, the quality of the hair. For example - the model in that video has always had her bleaching done by me, so the longer regrowth isn’t a problem…the method I use in the video is very effective. If you want to do a straight retouch only, I would generally say 6 weeks…
