I miss playing FFXI on the ps2. Those were the times... Really good video my dude! I am getting into Horizon myself soon so this was a really good start of my rejourney! :)
there are some low level crafting items that are virtually always profitable from even from level 0. sheep leather, copper ingots, bronze ingots, brass ingots for example. Also there are some one time quests that net serious money to help people get started: friar's rope, scroll of drain, scroll of aspir, justice badge, venerer ring, scentless armbands, power gi, teleport scrolls. thirdly conquest point items: in general aim for items that give 4gil/1CP ratio. prime targets are rank 1 items. Do not sell these right away, save until nation is NO LONGER rank 1 then sell when they can't be obtained anymore. hope this helps
also video series suggestion: Guide to Exping on Horizon. Chapter 1: party etiquette such as getting to camp quickly (methods of transportation: warp scroll/cudgel, telepoints, outpost warp, chocobo), have main weapon capped, be polite, find replacement if you have to leave and stay til that person arrives, use food (grilled hare is 200 gil and lasts 3 hours), have subjob leveled. Chapter 2: party roles: how to play as a healer effectively (UI addon or F1-F6 targeting, managing your mp, being careful with enmity), how to be puller (timely chain exp while avoiding links and watching mage MP), how to maximize dps (mob weapon type weaknesses, organizing a skillchain and magic burst, calling out your skillchain when opening and closing, online tool: flippantry skillchain calculator), how to tank (provoke is volatile enmity and decays rapidly; it shouldn't be used right away at cooldown), prioritize defense gear, how to maintain emnity through damage mitigation, doing damage as the tank, and facing mob away from party to avoid conals, etc. BONUS: how can each party role help when a link or death situation when it occurs: dps can voke/high enmity job ability the threat off mages, all mages can use crowd control spells depending on subjob, thf can sleep bolt, perfect time for people to use their 2 hour ability. Chapter 3: exp camps including custom Horizon camps from level range 10-50. new camp showcase? which mobs, where party should stand at, how long can you stay at each camp, etc love your videos, Hiro.
I'm a noob to this game. I did play in 2004 but I never got past my first limit break quest & eventually abandoned the game. When I started on this server I knew I wanted to try out fishing because it looked really in-depth and fun compared to other games. As soon as I hit 15, I grabbed the bamboo rod that I got off a goblin fisher while leveling and some worms and was fishing up moat carps and crayfish. I bought some insect balls and started target farming just moat carps then because I didn't want to spend so much money on insect balls, I leveled cooking with my funds. At this point I'm still a level 15 black mage because I'm kind of scared to party with people b/c I know nothing but I have 80k gil and I got my cooking to 39 and I'm working on pushing fishing up, it's still at 14 right now. I appreciate your guides - I watched the Windurst one and that helped me know what to farm while I was leveling to 15 to make some starter gil so I could buy my spells and even have gil for bait early on.
you can also make a rabbit mantle, which, as i can recall sells for a good amount. More over you can equip it if you are a red mage, warrior, and monk if i remember correctly. provides 1 defense for your back, so it's like a good back armor for lowbies
My prefered way was to simply got to a place where most things are easy prey and simply kill everything in sight till my invetory was full thenm go AH and vendor it all and repeat this for all jobs i have unlocked (keeping them all about the same level). Since I play solo and only kill easy prey, buying gear/spells and food etc is not a huge issue. leveling in this way also keeps your gear costs very low as you can share a couple sets a gear that are used for most jobs. Also be polite but dont let ppl push you around. If you join a party and they think your warrior should be using a great axe rather than a hand axe plus shield: politly tell them you are skilling hand axe and shield for other jobs.
Great videos as always bro. Regarding Bastos early leveling and money grinding, South Gustaberg Quadav’s, Lizards and Skeletons will make you good money and exp. Dangruff Wadi has Goblins and Worms (also Rabbits) which are fantastic as well. If you are Thief, you could go mid South Gustaberg and fight the Sheep and Goblins on the mountain.
If you keep signet up for the first 10 levels, you should be able to acquire 1-2 good lv 10 pieces of gear (a weapon and maybe a chest or head piece) from the gate guard for Conquest Points right as you hit level 10. Also, you can level multiple jobs to repeat the same process without buying multiple sets of gear. My suggestion would be to level 2-3 jobs on the same character that share usable gear (for instance, Thief, Warrior, and Red Mage use mostly the same level 10 gear). My other suggestion would be to make at least one additional character (since it's free) in another starting city. That way, you have access to a wider selection of conquest gear, and can send it between characters. You should never have to buy gear for gil until at least level 15. Tier 2 conquest points gear is mostly level 20, so you'll probably have to buy some gear in between level 10 and 20 for that reason if you want to stay optimally geared. However, if you have full sets of level 10 conquest gear, you might be able to get to 20 without being too severely undergeared. Just don't go into party with level 7 basic gear and try to stretch it to lv 20.
Horizon XI progression is super glacial even if you know what you're doing and have 20,000 hours on retail like I do. It took me 40 hours to get to level 21 Monk and I have like 25k gil and that's just because I fish moat carp and sell them like they're going out of style.
Mining! Then you can up your goldsmithing and Blacksmithing. Then get some mining clothes and stack pickaxes! I was making 400k-800k every 2 days. But, of course that was 13 years ago.
What are player's recommendations for best alternatives for FF11 private servers? Unfortunately my friends and I's HorizonXI adventure ended before it even began. Our LAN-party style of play at each other's places is way too complicated for their current IP Exception system to handle.
Probably Eden similar thing, but more accurate to 3rd expansion... And they allow dual boxing. It was the most popular before horizon and gets regular updates
Love the content, and this game. Brings back memories. Does anyone know if this game can be played on a new Mac mini with the new M2 chip? I don’t know much about PC/Mac I always played on console but I really want to play this again.
@@deadmemegamming Yeah but you are talking about FFXI in this comment. 1.1k view is literally nothing, a bunch of grandmas watching. FFXI is a very obscure game to begin with, you aren't going to get any views from it in most cases. People record it because they enjoy the actual game, like youtube was originally based on.
Aren't you always saying in your videos how you're broke, but you're happy that way, so people don't send gil? XD Joking aside, lots of good advice for people struggling to fund their adventures. Cooking has always been a good craft to level to the sub cap. Even if you don't make direct money off of it, it's cheap and a good way to save money by making your own food, fishing bait, and BST pet items.
When everyone started on Horizon there would be NOBODY to sell to because nothing in the game gives much gil.Everything however costs lots of gil so since nobody would have enough gil who would you sell to? Like all these ideas are based on an already established economy and that only worked retail because RMT exploited millions in gil which filtered through the game. I would be very suspicious as to how all that gil got into Horizon players would have had to play naked to save all their gil or spent it all just getting BASIC gear from npc's. SO I would like to hear how people made gil first weeks in Horizon without anyone to buy your stuff.Players wouldn't be like oh I have 3k gil let's spend it all on a few stacks of crystals then I have no gil just some crystals lol. You can exploit th egame in various ways like RMT did but you need multiple accounts and on Horizon your not allowed so I would be very skeptical it all started legit.
Thank you for the video, it really helps . i'm just a bit sad , as main PLD i will never be able to do any bcnm, bst and rdm only ( every /yell they want those jobs ), this is sad , i hate bst they ruin all the xp party zones and made my leveling experience a nightmare , so i feel forced to play rdm if i want to see a bcnm one day , and i am not really enjoying that .
paladin is good to super tank dropping like flies bcnm30 (empress hairpin) while a bst does sleepga. then just need 1 extra dps and a healer. can be 4-manned
Shammi is in Port Jeuno not Port Windurst… My bad
You have approximate knowledge of many things.
Pretty sure you meant Charm when you kept saying Tame also. Great video though thank you

Dude, I am lvl 10 and wearing level 1 gear because shit is hard. This game is super brutal.
Oh boy is it. Welcome to the grind of old-school, pre-quality of life improvement FFXI.
It is a brutal game. A lot of time is required. However, the memories and friends you make along the way, last a lifetime.

I used to play FFXI when it first released, lost my character in 2010 cuz it got hacked! You mind if I can join your LS?

I don't see a video how how to move the add ons. Mine are all jammed in the top left. Can you do that?

what is your ui setup? Looks nice
I would like to ask how did you make the game look like FFXIV similar to the game the UI or so

Thanks for the help. I will try to figure it out. I miss this game
