    Irish oak still exists and examples can be found in northwest Dublin in the remains of Ireland last great wood, Scaldwood. This runs in parts from Castleknock to Ashtown and can be accessed by walking along the Canal Greenway at either Casteknock train station or Ashtown Station. You can also access it from Blanchardstown Village at the old hospital entrance on Mill Lane and for an exceptional treat it can be viewed from the grounds of the Observatory at Ashtown.

      Thank you for that information. Good to know that it does still exist.

    You folks really need to come back to Waterford if you're around this part of the country again. It's the oldest city in Ireland, tonnes of historical stuff, the Greenway, the Copper Coast Unesco Geopark, Mount Congrieve (one of the best garden estates in all the world). The Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, Waterford Castle, Dunmore East Cliff Walk, Geoffs bar, Downes bar....the list goes on! Glad you're enjoying you time back in Ireland. Good to have you back!

      We were there briefly once to check out the Waterford Crystal factory... it was a fun tour. Perhaps someday we'll come back for more history!

    They are plenty of oak trees in ireland,but very few big oak forests.Where you were last year in killarney is the only place where you will find large oak forests.

    Another enjoyable video in a beautiful country. We visited Kilkenny back in May this year and loved the place. Unfortunately, we didn't visit Rothe House but we might have to next time! Keep up the good work and having fun.

    Lol the museum I work at in Massachusetts puts pine cones on the seats too! They’re supposed to stop ppl from sitting in the old chairs…so funny to know this is a source of international confusion. Lovely video!

    I’m blessed to live in Kilkenny. I pass these landmarks all week depending on where I’ve gone that day. By the way, it’s pronounced ‘Roth’ - I know it has an ‘E’ at the end but it’s Roth. it’s okay, many tourists mispronounce our names.

    Was the Castle Yard market like a local artisan market or were there a mix from all over Ireland? And that scone looked fantastic!

    • @chrisplusmelissa
      @chrisplusmelissa  Рік тому

      It was a mix from all over Ireland in the main shop I went into, but there was also a series of shops with local makers on the other side of the yard in permanent setups. Chris does most of our camerawork and I didn’t get the best footage. Those scones are fantastic! I’m not supposed to eat them (food allergies) but they were too worth it to miss. - Melissa
