Awesome review, I do wish i could've seen them each mixing the concrete 😁 both are powerhouses. I think Milwaukee has earned their loyal following. Flex is certainly another pro level option which brings a healthy amount of competition to the table.
Glad to see you taking a look at Flex. I hope you’ll try it with the 3.5 stacked lithium…supposedly no power drop off relative to the 6, just less run time.
I’d be VERY interested to see how the Milwaukee Gen 4 does again the Flex with non-stacked batteries. That would be a true apples to apples comparison until Milwaukee comes out with their own stacked. Follow up video Clint???
I've seen other videos comparing the two with the regular batteries and it's still quite a bit more powerful than the Gen 4. The Gen 4 isn't much more powerful than the Gen 3. The Flex is a monster and so far i have not seen a drill that can match it power wise. I also own the DeWalt DCD998B Power Detect which is probably dewalts most powerful drill, especially when paired with a 6ah/8ah battery and it's not match power wise either.
Flex looks good but is there different voltage sizes so you have to have many different batteries? I have not looked at any other battery powered tools because of the many different voltages , so is flex one or many? I don't know
I own both the flex with turbo and a gen 3 hammer drill, I prefer the flex, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never used the turbo. One thing that flex lacks is a good brake. The Milwaukee brake locks way quicker. We use that to break hole saws off our dust bowl kits. No standard pins on those.
Trust me you don’t want a drill brake like Milwaukee, because the chuck loosens up and drops the bit. Every Milwaukee drill I’ve owned has had this problem. I use mostly Dewalt now, and only one of them (2017 model) have a hard stop break and looses the bit. The other newer Dewalt drills have a softer brake and absolutely no bit drop.
I guess your right about dropping bits, Milwaukee is the only drills I’ve ever had that issue with. But for drilling recessed lights with the holesaw kit it’s the only drill that breaks the bits loose. Otherwise after each use it has to be taken apart.
To me Milwaukee is the best. Does that mean Makita and Dewalt should go out of business? NO. It just means competition and all brands should step up their game and improve all their tools. As simple as that. But let’s be real. All brands have a tool we all wish our favorite brand had. It is what it is. All tools get the job done
I too love my Millys. But i gotta say, the current new Gen 4 is kinda a minor upgrade. Especially when you look at what Dewalt has kicked out this year. Dewalt really started to swing for the fences and I gotta give it to them, their doing a great job. To me, I am glad, cause it means that the companies we all love are seeing competetion, and that means we will get better tools going forward.
Can't wait to see the rear handle saw review! I've been wanting to buy the Milwaukee one for some time but ever since FLEX came out I'm torn between which one to get!
I feel fortunate and cursed as a person finally ready to buy a collection of tools. Already established that I don’t want Milwaukee tools because the handle and trigger on virtually all of them are not comfortable to me, I thought I’d go 100% Dewalt. But I really love seeing the innovative things Flex has put out seemingly all at once, or at least things that answer complaints folks have with other brand tools; the in-line circular saw, jigsaws with a light switch, Stack Pack, turbo mode, way faster rollout of stacked lithium batteries, a lifetime warranty… There’s so much choice in this market and you can’t go wrong, only divergent from someone else’s choice and sometimes those folks get upset by that on behalf of a brand. It’s a defense mechanism, since investing in something (in other words: spending money) can leave one feeling vulnerable. Anyways, didn’t mean to come with psychological musings to the tool comparison, but you said you read all the comments in your recent video - thought I’d add to the pile as a person in the exact situation of looking at this current-day beast of a purchasing decision. Thanks for doing this video and I can’t wait to see the rest.
From what I see Lowe's is the only one selling them. Which means the batteries will be different every two years or so and you'll struggle to find the old ones.
People are going to bash me I would not buy either one for the price to me the Ryobi h.p does just fine I beat the crap out of them and have been for years and they get they job done for the price.
I've been using my dcd999 for over 2 years now nearly every single day and has never missed a beat or let me down so I won't be switching to either of them as the flexvolt advantage is a beast especially with a 9ah flexvolt battery.
I bet you almost 100% that if they would’ve made their tools lime green with black accents they may have had a chance !!!! Bright colors makes it easy to find in the shop.. Plus they look cool
The flex multi tool is far superior. I've burnt out every other on multiple times. I bought my first one when they first came here hoping it would last a little longer. I still have the first one and it works great have 4 now as we use them daily. I switched to full flex and not disappointed
Wow 😲! Who would ever thought such thing was possible? Or maybe it might be two pitbull in one cage than a dethroning of a reigning king. Milwaukee will be preparing to revamp it products to reclaim it kingship. But for now Flex is reigning supreme. Flex turbo charge is ridiculously fast and powerful.
Milwaukee used to have a separate drive control collar on their drills too. It would be nice to see them bring that back as a full sized drill option alongside their gen 4. Is there any chance you could repeat the runs using each brands 12A-hr batteries? Also, i think another good test would be testing their min speeds, as an application for doing more delicate work.
I've never tried Flex but what tools do they have in their lineup and how many versions of each tool do they have? Milwaukee has multiple versions of a lot of their tools. Anything for the homegamer to the pro. Back in the day it was mostly drills that were the only cordless tool. Now it's most tools are cordless.
Flex is interesting but they don't offer a single tool i want, if Milwaukee consolidated their M12 and M18 batteries they might be my single stop shop. On the flip side if dewalt came out with a solder iron and a compact rotary tool or smaller die grinder they would be my single stop shop. I use my tools around the house, on my car, and on my aircrafts and they need very compact tools that have plenty of power.
The demonstrations are all good so we can see what's what with the different companies. That said I don't think anyone is going to go out and buy a new impact driver, drill driver, hammer driver, every time something new comes out. I mean the garage will be full of technically dozens of semi brand new power tools if anyone wants to go that route.
I want to know which one is still going after 5 years of real world work. Power is one thing but longevity is what really matters and it's hard to beat red in that department.
Good review Clint . I don't really think that flex can really out any of the big3 at this point in time. Because everybody is married to there platforms. And they just don't have enough variety. But i think in a few years they may take makitas spot. If i was a top dog at flex .I would give huge deals and discounts . To get the tools in people's hands. And not just depend on Barnaby and his sham-wow boys
Even though it has been said in the video and in the comments, this actually was not an even comparison. AH were not the same, rpm were not the same. Just because 1st speed or 2nd speed were used does not mean those are the same speed. There is a true comparison between these tools on youtube and the Milwaukee won out, but barely. With that, I doubt the Flex can take the abuse and use Milwaukee goes through and I would like to hear what their warranty and customer support is like.
Very informative video…this intro was the best I’ve seen too funny, but the facts show flex is faster..for now … cost goes out the window with this performance.
I think the best one is which ever one is on sale, no actually I think the flex one. But I also have some flex batteries and chargers and bandsaw‘s so it’ll be easy for me to adopt the drill one day. 🎉 Which were on sale!
I just dumped a set of Firestorm cordless tools. Your not old enough to remember that junk. As a home owner I just invested in a set of Flex tools. I’m lucky I wasn’t already invested in anything else Red or Yellow. I feel sorry for those already heavily invested in other platforms. Thank you for this review. P.S. I have a buddy that can take care of your evil twin for a price. Just saying.
Clint...how do battery prices compare? Should I be throwing away my one year old Milwaukee power tools??? Isn't comparing a 24v to to an 18v tool like comparing an 18v to a 12v?
The Flex drill looks to impress but even including E-Go and Skill does this manufacturer have the product line to even start to compete with the Big M?
So it seems like FLEX is a good product. I'm sure that in a few years they'll have more variety of tools. Getting things to market takes a while and costs a ton. FLEX has been around for 2 years-ish? Red & Yellow have a few decades head start over FLEX so they should have a better selection/ecosystem. No matter how you slice it, more competition is good and will only make all the brands do better.
Red and yellow both have a century on them, literally. Milwaukee, Dewalt and porter cable are a lot older then people think and Makita is even older then they are. These brands are all tried and true and deserve the loyalty they get. Flex needs to keep hitting the gym as far as I'm concerned.
Dang Clint... Upping the game with green screens and animation ! You could be comparing cheese graters and I would watch it. Awesome!👍🏻👍🏻 The pouch technology has issues with swelling and was the cause of the original Chevy volt fires. The cylindrical format although less dense is safer, which is why Tesla did not adopt it, in my humble opinion...

It seems like the flex was a little quicker off the line as well are the electronics more responsive? Does the Milwaukee GEN4 have a little bit of trigger lag? Showed your review to my buddy he said the flex looks like it was quicker off the line or started a half a second first. Either Way, Milwaukee is exaggerating their claims again. Which springs up one more question Milwaukee was claiming this ultimate trigger control on the impact review nobody’s talked about it on any channel is there a difference with that or is it a gimmick? And I think the turbo doesn’t play much of a roll with the auger bit because if you increase the RPMs very good chance you’re going to lose torque.
@@athannaelanderson3806 yeah The tools they make are powerful and seem well-built. Their platform is just way too small at this point for me to even consider. Glad to see you taking a look at Flex. I hope you’ll try it with the 3.5 stacked lithium…supposedly no power drop off relative to the 6, just less run time.
That Flex sounds like a crazy banshee with that Turbo mode!
I’d be VERY interested to see how the Milwaukee Gen 4 does again the Flex with non-stacked batteries. That would be a true apples to apples comparison until Milwaukee comes out with their own stacked. Follow up video Clint???
👊👊👊
I don't know
Wow That’s quite the 180 from six months ago. I’m glad you call them like you see them.
Darth Vader here sounding like he’s stuck in his porta John.
🧐
Once I start seeing Flex out in the real world, then maybe I’ll consider it down the line. But for now, sticking with my Milwaukee
I feel fortunate and cursed as a person finally ready to buy a collection of tools. Already established that I don’t want Milwaukee tools because the handle and trigger on virtually all of them are not comfortable to me, I thought I’d go 100% Dewalt. But I really love seeing the innovative things Flex has put out seemingly all at once, or at least things that answer complaints folks have with other brand tools; the in-line circular saw, jigsaws with a light switch, Stack Pack, turbo mode, way faster rollout of stacked lithium batteries, a lifetime warranty…
There’s so much choice in this market and you can’t go wrong, only divergent from someone else’s choice and sometimes those folks get upset by that on behalf of a brand.
I love my Milwaukee tools and always will I just got the flex 8pc set and wow I'm in love the power and durability is amazing price is kinda heavy
Which has the least vibration?
Edits were awesome! 😂😂😂
the flex batteries one on top of eachother I don't know my phone overheats with just one battery so how would it cope in hot weather?
From what I see Lowe's is the only one selling them. Which means the batteries will be different every two years or so and you'll struggle to find the old ones.
People are going to bash me I would not buy either one for the price to me the Ryobi h.p does just fine I beat the crap out of them and have been for years and they get they job done for the price.
This. I run all HP tools and I'll just replace them with makita when I kill 2 brushless ryobis.
are these now better than dewalt's flexvolt advantage drill? I've been convinced their's was the most powerful as of recently.
Thank you for this important comparison through a very entertaining video.
The flex multi tool is far superior. I've burnt out every other on multiple times. I bought my first one when they first came here hoping it would last a little longer. I still have the first one and it works great have 4 now as we use them daily. I switched to full flex and not disappointed
You burnt out the brushless motor on Milwaukee’s multi-tool? Did it last more than a year?
There's a scammer pretending to be you telling me I won something. Thought you'd like to know Clint.
Thanks for the heads up brother. Please report as spam if possible. I just put out a community post as well
The Milwaukee Gen 2 OG had the drill settings on a separate dial. Can't fathom why they would have changed that.
The new kid in the block is trying to FLEX on the OG team. Really drilled home their point. Face it technology is definitely got way better
Hopefully when Milwaukee releases their version of pouch lithium batteries it really wakes up their tools
So glad to see clinton testing the flex! Milwaukee now has equal competition. If flex moves into the m12 spot!! Be awesome
I think he likes the turbo guys.
Great for Flex to compete and even top Milwaukee but guys like me who are heavily invested in Milwaukee won't switch. Great video.
Please review the Flex 6.5 inline saw🙏🏼
I've never tried Flex but what tools do they have in their lineup and how many versions of each tool do they have? Milwaukee has multiple versions of a lot of their tools. Anything for the homegamer to the pro. Back in the day it was mostly drills that were the only cordless tool. Now it's most tools are cordless.
Barnaby's flex is in the Devil's Den Clint 👹👺👹👺👹
🔥
Thank you
I would like comparison information between these two for: warranty, cost, how good is their customer service to support any issues? Thanks.
Going to see more fires with the flat cells
Flex level production quality
The demonstrations are all good so we can see what's what with the different companies. That said I don't think anyone is going to go out and buy a new impact driver, drill driver, hammer driver, every time something new comes out. I mean the garage will be full of technically dozens of semi brand new power tools if anyone wants to go that route.
I want to know which one is still going after 5 years of real world work. Power is one thing but longevity is what really matters and it's hard to beat red in that department.
Milwaukee have a contender for sure. Hope they get stack batteries sorted so people that have them can charge quicker n power. Gd job bud 👌
Great video brother.
Nooooo, your not my father! 🤣🤣
Great review by the way thanks clint keep it up man
Even though it has been said in the video and in the comments, this actually was not an even comparison.
No drills rpms are the same.. He used bigger ah batteries on both and the flex won.. Maybe this other review isn't factual
Enjoy those “updated” Kobalts 🤣
Esa fue una introducción…
…realmente NASS LIKE! 😜
Get back to me when they have the basics like a miter saw a table saw a router etc
🎉
Which were on sale!
Anytime you have a turbo option; RUN!
Dude. The firestorm set was an awesome set back in the day. Total underdog. By the time you threw price in there it was better that the dewalt kit.
@@jmackinjersey1 my deepest condolences!
@@billymorris3265 thanks I’m thinking about donating them to the Smithsonian.
I would be concerned about the longevity of the flex as I own mostly Milwaukee and some Dewalt . I guess time will only tell
Clint...how do battery prices compare? Should I be throwing away my one year old Milwaukee power tools??? Isn't comparing a 24v to to an 18v tool like comparing an 18v to a 12v?
How about Flex vs Metabo HBT 36v?
Thanks for this sweet sweet video smeesh that like button one question you did say how much the concrete was
Dang Clint... Upping the game with green screens and animation ! You could be comparing cheese graters and I would watch it. Awesome!👍🏻👍🏻
The pouch technology has issues with swelling and was the cause of the original Chevy volt fires. The cylindrical format although less dense is safer, which is why Tesla did not adopt it, in my humble opinion...
Unfortunately my 2.5ah & 5ah batteries are leaking a black liquid.
@@athannaelanderson3806 Use tools don't be a tool!
So Pompous ...
Clint's informative and fun channel is getting better with his use of improved graphics and techniques as his base and algorithm increases genius, no one is suggesting it's new for the industry or as tech...
In reality no one cares for negative Nelly's here.... Take it for what it is entertainment and new tool information, in other words get a life.
No finish guns no framing gun, miter saw , tablesaw no sanders, planers ect ect..
It’s gonna be a while till they become an option for me I need all of those tools for work and they don’t have them yet.
@@athannaelanderson3806 WHAT!? They’ve only been out for a couple of years and have released a handful of tools we know nothing about their longevity how good their other tools are going to be i.e making a good drill and making a good nail gun I have nothing to do with each other. I’m not trying to be mean but do you know how crazy you sound right now. Because they released a few good tools I would bail on a company that’s been around since the 1930s makes and offers every tool I need and they have a reputation for being one of the best tool companies in the industry😂 i’m not 100% sold on them they came into the market and they hit hard and that’s respectable. Honestly the difference was so minimal between flex and Milwaukee and the flex is a higher voltage tool (24v)running a stacked lithium battery. I’m not a weekend warrior I own over $20,000 in tools I do this for a living I would never make a decision based off of that. Imo as it stands right now Milwaukee ,Dewalt, and Makita are all the better tool companies.
i gots that flex hammer drill real nass like.
I like using the stepchild at work this way nobody touches me tools, I have a greenlee drill and a greenlee hammer drill. I don’t know why companies still add the hammer drill function to a drill more parts to break. That’s like using a flat screwdriver on a Philips screw.
Use the hammer drill function every week. For us contractors ots a function that's needed. I wouldn't buy a drill without it and I even have the yellow 12v version with the hammer function
@@jonsaircond8520 I'm an electrician nobody on a job site uses the hammer drill function too loud and too slow that's a homeowner function.
@@martinsnibbor7691 Those of us without a Hilti use it. So your saying that when using a masonry bit you just use a drill and push harder. My electrician friend doesn't use a hammer drill function ethier he gets out the dedicated one. I'm not spending the money on one when my xrp has it built in
@@jonsaircond8520 I think you missed my point, not every drill should have a hammer drill function in Europe they have regular drills with just drill functions , manufactures started marketing towards US market with a combo drill hammer function to produce sales because we care more about convenience than performance . I’m just saying red, yellow, orange should make a performance drill with maybe kick back shut-off so it don’t knock you down from a ladder kind of like the hole-hawg
“Today, Chervon owns several tool well-known tool brands in North America, including Flex, EGO, and Skil/Skilsaw. They also manufacture power tools for other brands.”
“Kobalt power tools are made by Chervon, one of the 10 largest OEMs of power tools in the world. Chervon has been in business since 1993.”
Hummm 🤔
Just saw all of Clint's Milwaukee tools listed for sale online...something about joining the dark side and no longer need, I don't know!
I would buy the flex
What I don’t understand is why people are so freaking focused on beating another tool by .5 a second. I care about how well there built and there customer service because in the end everyone is going to warranty a battery or tool at some point if you use any brand.
nice cope
@@athannaelanderson3806 I took my m18 battery 5 mins from my house to a registered Milwaukee repair place and they got me a new battery in 9 days sheesh you all sound like baby’s crying over a truck brand at this point 🤣👏🏽
@@athannaelanderson3806 you legit sound like a broken record baby man. Go cry to someone else about how u think flex is better with 1/4 the line of tools Milwaukee has 😂 and the .5 second faster drill time.
