Lassen NP: A Weekend of Ski Touring on Active Volcanoes

In the midst of a prolonged stretch of high pressure in January 2025, Lauren and I decided to go explore a new area by heading north to Lassen Volcanic National Park for a weekend of backcountry skiing. Despite recent dry, windy, and freeze/thaw weather, we managed to find some unexpectedly enjoyable corn snow on southern aspects. We didn't summit and ski the Mt Lassen peak proper (although heard secondhand that conditions on it were fairly abysmal anyway), but got a good lay of the land for hopefully a future shot at it.
