He he had every opportunity to have freinds and even much more than that and in fact he was good at making freinds and people did like him he was handsome and freindly and a good speaker thats how he lured people back to his apartment in the first place, But he wanted something way more than that. he wanted to use them as objects and tear into their bodies with his own hands and control them like a doll and destroy them as he saw fit. He said he got off on being as he said, "evil". Thats why he watched the exorcist 3 during his encounters bc he was inspired by the priest who was possessed with the soul of the "gemeni killer". He bonded with the character. Jeffery liked what he was doing for many reasons, him being lonely? I think that was the most PG 13 explanation he could bring himself to admit to the world and his parents. He even said his "urges" never left, even in prison. In fact he supposedly taunted prisoners by talking about his cannibalism and shaping food into looking like body parts and leaving it for inmates too see. He took perversion to a whole new level, and manipulated alot of us into believing his ability to feel loneliness was so strong that it pushed him to those deeds. He is a manipulative monster
