All the OG Hololive fan missed her, I'm glad she's doing well now more than ever
Coco may be gone from Hololive, but considering how successful and how happy Kson is, I don't feel sad about it as much. In fact, she finally got her own character in her favorite game. Kson can't stop winning ❤
Yeah, the meme review is the only thing I really feel sad about losing from that era. Other talent have tried (Haachama and Gura specifically) but it's not the same.
In the end it wasn't the incident that forced her to leave but really her will to take on new challenges and accomplish new things.
Really happy for her she suceeded.

Sometimes it's still hard to digest that Coco's time in Hololive was shorter than the amount of time that has passed since her graduation.
But it only shows that she really did so many memorable things in her time in Hololive.

a lot of us do. I remember to this day how even astel reacted, he straight up sounded gutted despite them never collabing. she made a HUGE impact on holopro.

As happy as I am about Kson's success in Vshojo and the indie scene, I also can't help but still feel really sad about the loss of Kiryu Coco... Coco was, as mentioned, a connective bridge for the EN and JP sides, and above all else, everyone that collabed with her was always having so much fun. As Kson she doesn't seem to quite have that spark anymore, or at least not in the same way. She still collabs with tons of indies, small corpos, and even some irl streamers and they all seem to clearly have fun yeah. But it doesn't feel like Coco's collabs, I still remember when Coco would have heart-to-hearts with some of her collab partners. Her Raft collab with Aqua, or one of her ARK collabs with Watame where she helped ease Watame's anxieties over her lower numbers and the stress of having to stream every day to name the most memorable ones for me.
I love Kson, but I miss Kiryu Coco.
Absolutely. Her stories about living with Kanata, the way she was there to support other members... hololive lost a lot more than just a successful streamer when coco graduated.
That era ended after the incident, not when Coco graduated.
Almost nobody in Hololive wanted to collab with Coco unless it was to get featured on Shitpost Review, not until March when Coco told them that she was graduating.
If Coco had stayed in Hololive she'd still be treated like a leper, and the English fanbase would still be advocating for that.

At the time the road forward for Hololive was still unclear and as a precaution most talent managers forbade their talents to collab with her since it was not known if Hololive would appease the CN fans or stick by their talents. Thankfully, despite Coco's decision to leave, it's become apparent that Hololive's a genuinely talent-first company now.

Only EN management blacklisted Coco. The members of other branches were allowed to collab with her.

For a single stream. It was also solved entirely by simply turning on member's chat for that one stream. That's all it cost.
Isolating Coco was a terrible decision. It multiplied her suffering and gave the antis the results they needed to keep their campaign against her going.

The issue wasn't a _general treatment_ of talents. Polka got tons of support from management while Coco was in chains. If Coco was still in Hololive she'd still be treated badly.
For four months management knew that Coco was going to graduate because of the restrictions they had dumped on her. During that time they lifted exactly zero of those restrictions until she announced her graduation (apart from EN allowing collabs with Coco two weeks prior so they wouldn't look bad for kneeling to her antis the entire time). Immediately after Coco graduated the exact same antis began using the exact same tactics against Fubuki and not a single one of those restrictions were placed on her.
@@ElliotKeaton You are right on varies points, it's been a while since I've had to talk about this distasteful topic and I'd like to not continue after this, a point I'm sure we can all agree on. That said on two of your points, you are wrong, and you are basing it off a personal opinion not supported by the facts of what we've seen since then.

It was not a single stream, as far as I remember there were at least three incidents of this; on the official channel, on Flare's channel, and on Fubuki's channel. And the consequence of this was the limiting of live chats to Members Only, for all Hololive JP channels. Not just the channels that had the antis spam in them.

Hololive has very clearly learned from this, perhaps yes her treatment might not have immediately improved, but that was a long time ago. I can almost guarantee you that they would've straightened up relatively quickly, easily in less than a 2 months. Hololive has shown that they very much care about their talents as of late, a trend that has been going on since before even Sana left.

It's very clear the restrictions were placed as a misguided attempt at protecting her and the other talents, hoping this would blow over. I have no doubt that they would have likely realized that the restrictions were not helping. In regards to Fubuki's situation, the antis themselves dissolved very quickly after Coco left, the people that went after Fubuki were a fraction of the number that went after Coco, the restrictions were not needed since the harassment vanished on its own, and it's also likely that with the retrospect of what happened with Coco, Cover might have attempted to handle the situation differently since it was obvious to anyone that the previous actions were not useful.
Do not forget that one of the reasons she left was to protect her friends, her fellow holomembers.
Meme Review has such a wild yet comfy vibe, I too missed this show and especially Coco Kaichou.
yes, i miss Coco's meme review too, her meme review content actually makes the Holo community to stay Creative and Active. while right now is fine but the Coco's meme review makes JP and Kaiganiki work together as one big community

Meme review was absolutely the best, allowed us to share the love to the JP members in a simple and funny way, since the day i discovered it i was eagerly waiting for it, good old days
It's interesting that you bring up the current state of outfit reveals being a prediction review until the actual reveal. Because if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong), Coco was the first in hololive (if not amongst vtubers) to use that format, with her New Year's outfit reveal. Before that, outfit reveals were just the talent chatting and wondering how to waste time until the 40-minute mark.
Watching vtubers for me was never the same after she left.
Meme review was my highlight of the week. It's also cemented me in the rabbit hole.
It was such a bonding experience for EN and JP fans.

An era when Hololive was at their peak, the amount of content at that Era was astonishing, i miss it. After Coco graduated, Hololive was never the same anymore, ppl now often looping the same joke, new memes generated much slower than before.
Just look at how many memes in Holocure that was created in this period by her commercial and Meme review, she is truely the legendary Vtuber.
I always look forward to this shit every Sundays. I even watch it during work. o7

10:35 I regularly watch Risu clips from Neya & sometimes from Restars & others. Her free talk streams often mentions Indonesian memes. Although not the same, for me it can fill a bit of the void from the absence of Coco's meme review.

As an Indonesian, you have no idea how happy I was when Moona appeared. Plus, according to Coco, Moona was eager to join. Hell, when the "Sule meme" was shown during Noel's one, I was delighted.
I wasn't in the rabbit hole when Asacoco was still there but Coco's Meme Review is still probably the best running programme series from HoloPro.

if I recall correctly, meme review was what spread the use of kaigai niki to refer to non JP fans
it was also a very fast switch in the fan base from what I can remember (seeing a JP niki on a english clip talking about how they refer to us as kaigai niki meaning roughly translating to "overseas bro" ) to the next meme review the whole fanbase was using it, with calling the JP fan *JP Bros* to *JP niki* to *ninhon niki* (mind my horrible spelling on ninhon)

It was a magical time with Coco being a great host and fans providing great content.
These days few can remain motivated to do it like Coco can; assuming they're not rather busy. And the subreddit isn't as fertile memes wise as it used to be.
But that time had more talents willing to post there too (these days it's mainly Watame and Kanata); honesty a post from a member may sway some, like myself. I was planning on not watching a Live of Kanata's but seeing her post a thread asking... how could I refuse.
I feel part of it was the general activity load is higher than those days. Many are doing con appearances/etc or more music. In Aki's case she likely had it slip her mind with how chaotic her life seems to be.
The other part is HoloEN's (if not also NijiEN) existence has lessened general overseas interest in JP, making a bit of rift between old guard fans who follow JP and the newer EN only ones. Such a course of events made things harder for Aki (given overseas is something of a lifeblood)
To be fair, the need for good meme material and the chance to get your meme on the review drove a lot more people to make memes. If someone was consistently doing meme reviews like her you'd see more memes being made.

edit : also about the most "consistent" HoloPro show, I think it should be held by AsaKoyo right now. Also while I do agree many of your points, the interaction is still there. Feeling like talents nowadays understand what kaigainiki wrote, they just don't speak English to show that they understand our comments and tweets.
And lastly, don't forget that AsaKoyo and Subaru's zatsudan have English translations.
Meme Review is definitely a very difficult and brilliant content and it is exclusive to Kiryu Coco (same with AsaCoco).

Guyrys does remind me of the overseas reddit character.
Haachama cooking and Sunday were also attention grabers for overseas fans but not as much as meme review and it wasn’t as consistent and didnt involve as many collabs either.
If Kanade can do a series regularly then she seems like a really good candidate. She seems more of a memer and also got good English skills. An issue older members might also more have is they feel like it is Coco’s thing and thereby have a hard time “taking” over which might not be a thing with ReGloss.
Kiara’s HoloTalk does also involve some memes but it isn’t a thing members get on often like Meme review.
Kiara also more interested in Twitter than Reddit and I dont think she would be interested in having JP specific series either so it would be English.
I dunno about Holostars EN but Fauna seems to be one of the few English members who is into Reddit, where most of the others are more into Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
It could be interesting if a Holostars member decided to do meme review but I am not sure if anyone could fit into it.
@@AndersHasshonestly rather than scrapping on the legacy or feel not worth about it. They just need a remake. To breathe new life into it. And surpass coco meme review. It's because coco was a person who was into memes. And have the knowledge of both en and jp that makes it create this masterpiece with their fanbase. Also With kuso English and Japanese. It really broke the market then. But if no one tries as hard as coco did. It's not going to surpass it. Coco did put so much work into it

I think someone who could do the bridge honestly is risu but she needs a jp cohost. ID seems somewhat ignored by jp nikki. Not totally but to some extent not getting recommended. Risu is very meme heavy as well soo yeah. She is just missing a bridge or link. The series then needs to rotate between each other channel as a way to bridge jp and id and en. En does goes to jp and I'd stream in general. Also I feel ID fanbase would appreciate it more to the new en fanbases as a starting base to work on. Which might correlate to have risu work with kanade but yeah
@@windrunner8497 Risu got Nonstop Nut Novemeber as a thing she keeps doing. I dunno how well she would be at consistently doing other things like Reddit Meme review. But otherwise she knows her memes and she does also understand Japanese fairly well but bit weird for ID to be the bridge for EN to JP, lol. Doing it with a JP member could be an interesting move.

I honestly think that the best thing to attempt to bridge the gaps was Kiara's Holotalk, since it showed off her talent of fluency, gave the JP talents a place to at the very least be introduced and bring those who would otherwise not have known about a JP talent into what their streams and activities are like, and was not just an attempt to be a carbon copy of meme review. The problems being to me that it's not done on too regular of a basis; at its peak it was about once per month Kiara got an actual sitdown with a member. Another thing being the lack of community creativity output since all it is is a question submission, which can easily be glossed over, and finally once more EN talents that could speak Japanese came onto the scene, I feel like it lost its luster and I feel Kiara lost motivation to continue as often. I don't go on reddit or any communities about Hololive or Vtubers in general so these are just the thoughts that have invaded my head since I've been watching for all these years.
She hasn't lost motivation for Holotalk, it's that they've all been so crazy busy and don't have schedules that line up

AsaCoco Live already did that in spades, five days a week, and had official translations.
