Exactly it's really crazy. When I was looking for a car I was looking at used and they were literally the same price as new cars. In the end I said screw it and got the 2022 civic sport hatch, the same price as a used lol.
The new civic is #1 with most auto reviews this year! And for good reason Honda put 100% into this car! Over 50 years.. I got one just like yours 4 weeks ago! Love it .. fun to drive! Now on my 5th civic!

7:33 is an auto idle-stop feature. If you are at a complete stop for more than 2 seconds, your engine will stop by default to be more fuel efficient and will come back on once you release the brake (you can still use all your tech features). The button will toggle whether this setting is on or off.

Last year in mid March that I gotten a 2020 Ford Escape SE in black. It was so much advanced than my 2015 Ford Escape SE. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to it in driving it. I just loved in using Apple Car Play for playing my music from my iPhone. It does have a push start button. Even it is an automatic that is in a dial. I still missed the transmission throttle when I rested my hand on it. Even using a key to startup. I did it a couple times with my house key towards my apartment. It does feel liked driving a car. Everything was new to me. Your car is so nice looking.
Two weeks ago, I picked up a used '22 Civic hatchback (liftback) with the K20C2 engine and the 6-speed manual transmission. It is Sonic Grey Pearl. I love it.
Congratulations 🎉. I really wanted this car but the markup "and" just trying to find one (in manual). I ended up going to Subaru and liked the Impreza. However they wanted an $ 4,500 markup "above" MSRP. They also said I would have to wait for three months to get it in my color and in MANUAL, yes manual! The very next day I found the same car (used) with 21,000 miles on it and in my color "and" it was a MANUAL 😃. The good news is I saved $7,500. The bad news is the underpowered engine, but it's okay and is fun to drive as it hugs the road like a mountain goat LoL. Make it yours man and congrats once again.🏹🤠👍

Great vid man and smart decision. I noticed you said you are not a gearhead. Well, I'm a gearhead and have worked on all kinds of cars/trucks. You hit the jackpot picking this specific car trim. I have worked on Dodge Cadillac Ford Chevy Toyota Honda all brands makes models etc . I'm purchasing the civic sport in the same configuration you have here. I tend to stick with American brands but the funny thing is this is Built-in Indiana or possibly Ohio so it's technically an American automobile. Check the driver's side door jam you can see where it was built it will say on the sticker there. It will be the 1st Honda and 1st brand new vehicle I've ever bought or owned. Used cars aren't getting cheaper in today's market that's for sure. In my honest opinion, this is the only one worth that price and of consideration. From all I know about this engine transmission drive train chassis car. It is fairly priced even at or above MSRP. There are cars out there over the $30,000 mark that won't last as long or save you as much as this car will. The engine in the car is known as the K20C2 Earth Dreams engine. It has a history especially this one a very good one. It was also used in 2016 civic with slight differences mainly the I-VTEC systems affected valves operation intake exhaust or both. The K20C2 does both valves hints better mpg on a tried and true tech. It also has one of the most reliable CVT transmissions built today by any manufacturer. With the uncertainty in gas prices we have today. You have made one heck of a purchase that will save you plenty of money over many years. Keep the oil changed and remember to drain and fill the CVT transmission when it's recommended. You will have this car well over 200,000 miles if you plan to keep that long. If not tho you also have a fantastic retained value with very high resell value. Again good call on not opting for the 1.5 l Turbo engine on higher trim options. Couldn't say about the new 1 5l engine but I would guess it suffers from oil delusion like it's predecessor 1.5l did. Has to do with the way it injects fuel into the engine high pressure. It pushes the fuel past the piston rings which causes it to mix with oil ultimately destroying the engine. The 2.0 doesn't suffer from this problem it's point fuel injection behind the valves to keep them from carbon accumulation and not properly sealing up. Also not high pressure in combustion chamber spray so no oil dilution problems aka gas past piston ring . As I'm about to receive mine I'm in the waiting process.. Knowing the EPA doesn't always tell the truth on mpg. If you would drop me a line I would like to know the real world MPG of the new ride. Is much appreciated in advance. I expect about 37 or more highway but could be wrong. It wouldn't surprise me if it was higher either.
I have the boost blue 2022 sport hatch FULL HPD PACKAGE with OEM RAIN GUARDS and k20c2 with CVT . I have been getting regularly 36-37MPG but when careful in NORMAL MODE I can hit 39.2 MPG and that’s on back roads. On interstate I am 38.1MPG with focus driving and normally 35-36MPG on interstate. It’s easy to get good mileage if you pay attention to the dash gauges and lights.(yes gas mileage is better under 60mph)

I was going for the Mazda CX-50 Select edition because it comes with blacked out tires too. But chose a Honda Civic Sport sedan over it. My budget dictated the decision, although I did not have a mark-up, a friend of mine got a brand new accord in 2019 for 28k on road and that's how much it turned out for Civic for me, difference: dealer discount over MSRP and inflation ofcourse. I'm a first time buyer too, the price online and what u pay sums up. I currently own a Honda that ran 170k and still runs great so going with the family

Thank you for sharing! This is so helpful! How did you approach the dealership knowing you were paying cash, you didn’t pay a mark up that’s so nice how was that possible and how did you reserve the car before it arrived? Thank you in advance!
So basically I just went to the dealership and spoke to a salesman saying I was interested in a car, particularly the civics. They let me test drive the standard Civic LX model (the only models they had on the lot were for test driving only) and he brought me in to have a further discussion if I was still interested. I told him during that conversation that I was planning to pay in cash so that he'd be aware beforehand. I'm guessing it was just sheer luck that I didn't pay markup. For reserving the car, the salesman actually told me that it was really the only way since the supply/demand was so bad. I had to put a $500 fully refundable payment for the right of first refusal on the car and then the rest was history. Not sure if it's the same at every Honda dealership.

@@LifewithSeanBrown Looks so much better than the old modern steel metallic IMO. Definitely tinting since I live in Texas and it helps reduce the heat. Thinking of going with a ceramic like 3M IR but it can be pricey. 30-35% but we’ll see. Enjoy your ride man!

I literally want a Honda Civic sport for my first car but in the grey pearl color ! Worried about it not having blind spot detection, do you have any issues with blind spots ?
You can get blind spot detection if you get at least the EX trim. Otherwise, it's a little workaround but you should be able to see when looking over your shoulder for the most part with enough driving experience.
Watch all the videos for this car, sedan and hatchback is pretty much the same, except for certain differences. The button on the center console is to deactivate the auto start/stop function. Most of us would deactivate it, as over time it increases engine wear over time, like excessive repeated starting snd stopping on any car. You have to deactivate it each time you start your car, or put it in Sport mode. The should have made it able to deactivate in in vehicle system settings, so it stays off, but it may have something to do with fuel economy ratings.
The Sport trim had good equipment for the semi enthusiasts, without the expensive bells and whistles to keep costs down. That's why no front seatback rear map pockets, which they started only having the right one on lots of cars from many brands except for certain vehicles and trims that still have both. That why also no rear seat center folding down center armrest with cupholders. Also no sunroof, electric adjust seats and other things. The Sport Hatchback still has the 60/40 split seat, whereas the Sport Sedan rear seat is in one piece.
I would get the Sport Touring Hatchback if I had the extra money for the Bose Stereo and other things, but I actually like the look of the Sport trim with the more reliable 2.0L non turbo engine albeit 22 less horsepower that the upper trim 1.5L trubo engines, with more longevity and less potential problems down the road after time and higher mileage.
I also prefer the manual srats and would not get a sunroof unless it's part of the trim package. I can do without the other things, and get some other things aftermarket, loke upgrade the stereo how I want for about $1000-1200.
The Sport trim also no longer has the foglights, and leatherette door and center console armrests like the previous 10th Generation Civics. But at least there's provisions to add foglights from aftermarket, or if Honda has an OEM kit available later .

@@LifewithSeanBrown *I edited and added more to my original comment. They may change it for 2023, or someone may figure out how to add something to disable it and keep it off. Also, glaringly absent is an engine coolant temperature gauge. You can't monitor if your car starts overheating until you get the warning light activated. This is a big deal for a lot of us. Typically, only the base LX or equivalent trims of vehicles would have stuff like that omitted.

So I would say I've been saving frequently throughout college which helped me get a good start (not necessarily for a car but in general). As I graduated college, I knew I wanted to save specifically for a car so I started saving more heavily around June 2021 when I landed my full-time job. Luckily I lived with my parents at the time and had no major bills, so I saved the majority of my paychecks until February 2022.

That’s for Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Otherwise you just need a car usb charging adapter which you could get dual port for. But yes, it’ll just be the Car Play plug and a plug for car charging adapters.

I don't plan to use the auto engine stop feature at red lights. If I can't disable it permanently and have to press the button each time. I plan to disable it permanently with an automotive bi-directional scanner programmer. Great idea in theory but I don't feel like replacing that many starter motors.
You can also disable it by driving in sport mode
@@Ghost-jy9hk Now you got me wondering if sport mode changes the tune on the system or not 😆. I knew it was there for a reason. Especially on the 2.0l with CVT reliable but not a power maker in that configuration. A glorified auto off on starting button for auto engine start stop. I feel I was up sold on that feature. Like press sport and bam brotha insta Mazarati! The user manual should read does not increase power but will keep er running. Thats always a good thing 👍😁

Hi Sean, I'm set to graduate this may with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and am interested in purchasing a Honda Civic hatchback for my commute to work. Are there any major annoyances that you've encountered with your civic?
Not really major annoyances. The only thing that’s weird is that if you want to turn off your idle engine stop feature (engine goes idle when at complete stops to stay fuel efficient), you have to manually turn it off each time you get into your car. No way to permanently turn it off. Otherwise I’m lovin it!
The degree don’t mean shiz if u don’t have a job where u can afford this car….but let’s say u do get a good job, a 27k car will be a smart reliable choice

No reason not to pay cash. Now just have a new car bank account and every month just make payments to it. Keep this car looking like new so you can get a nice trade in value on your next car. No reason to go into debt buying a car.
Um no, you got it backwards. Paying cash offers you nothing in the future. You are better off financing the car and building your credit history. Excellent credit history means you can get future loans and mortgages with lower interest rates. Take the cash and invest it elsewhere to make even more money on it.

How'd you get a $27,150 out the door price? MSRP+Destination is $25,565 then throw in TTL which comes out to about the exact amount you paid. Basically this dealer sold you this car without any addons, markups, insurance, etc.
Dealerships here will throw in all kinds of BS addons, markups and will not remove them at all. They def will not let you pay in cash either since they make money off financing as well.
Luck and I guess they were desperate for a quick sale haha. I pretty much came in there knowing what I wanted and I think they knew I wasn't gonna settle for any BS if possible.

Im sure youll learn this as you get older, but I almost did the same thing as you at 22 years old, the worst thing you could have done is buy this car cash. Instead you should have bought a home. 5 years later fully paid off 3 homes and about to own the 4th one, and I bought my dream car about 3 years ago (25).
