Canton Railroad Baltimore, MD - March 2011 by Kevin A. Mueller

Engine 1501 is seen at the beginning pushing cars accross Holibird Ave on March 28th 2011. This is followed by 1307 crossing in the opposite direction. Engine 1203 is shown on March 29th 2011 switching tank cars at the Sun Products co. Afterwards 1203 returns to the Newkirk St. yard after crossing Poncabird Pass and Holibird Ave. 1203 finally parks alongside of 1501. The last scene shows engines 1364 and 1307 pulling a train north crossing Boston St.

Glad you got the vid, now that SUN products is just a memory. I like the "Bethlehem Steel" / Wheeling - Pittsburgh Steel looking scheme like in your video as opposed to the new cityscape paint scheme.

What memories. My father worked at the GAF plant right here as an electrical engineer and travelled every week for much of my teen days. In the summers, I would go with him and we'd railfan these exact same crossings after he finished work each night. I even got a cab ride once from a nice engineer at Holabird Ave back about 20 years ago or so. Thanks for posting. Place still looks busy as ever..!

When I still worked out of the BG&E Baltimore office as a gas construction field inspector back in the 70s and early 80s, this was my favorite city lunch time spot since the east side of town was part of my territory. Always plenty of switching action. Nice to see the area is still very active train-wise. Miss those train watching days in Baltimore.

what year is that sw switcher ? the yard i railfan near has 8 of em and they are seldom seen out of the yard but i cathc them every other saturday moving boxcars in and around an industrial area in salisbury nc
