Best part of my travels mainly in the 90's, brought my 1st shrimp boat a 25 foot wood hulled vessel. Adams Creek to Oriental was beautiful, day 2 was from Oriental all the way to the head of The Alligator River north end of the river, day 3 from Mouth of Albermarle sound to Kill Devil Hills what nice stress free adventure. After 30 years being away from the good salt air, and battling Cancer I have a chance of boarding a friends new 32 foot Grand Banks , new to him old as hell but stable vessel. I'm planning on visiting all my old favorite fishing sites and publishing some nice photos fishing and traveling in this great state of N.C., enjoy your travels.
Not to worry. Salty’s..... its OK your’re behind. Your video log is so real, it is exactly what happens without any “glitz”. Also your music adds to the authenticity. It’s addicting to watch especially if you are a sailor. Viva Wicked Salty!
Rrrrr matey, greetins from Vancouver Island , British Columbia, Canada , land of the Swiftsure yacht race . Just wanted to tell you how cute your first mate is , props fore and aft and your girl friend,'s none to shabby either , May yee always have far' winds and a fallern' sea.
Awesome footage of a serene passage South. I remember the first time you two passed Coinjock a few years back on a previous boat. It motivated me, and somehow I was at Coinjock marina one day on my very own boat. I had the prime rib though...dreams do come true! I've noticed it even in the past, but I could swear that your spirits always seem to get elevated as you approach the tropical waters. Safe Passage South to you three ... Keep Lola warm! 🤙
I heard tying dryer sheets to your dock lines deters spiders/rodents. And this info. “I learned this from the man who trained the spiders for the movie Arachnophobia. Spiders have their taste buds on the tips of their legs. They also hate the taste of lemon pledge. Dust your windowsills and doorframes with the pledge, both inside and out, and any areas where they accumulate. The spiders will find that they don’t want to live with you.”
Great video guys. I miss my coinjock hat, wore that sucker plum out. When we stopped there many, many moons ago I think we anchored out. Oh, I bought a tea shirt. When I wore that out I cut the pocket out because it had coinjock on it, kept it in my shop for years, lol. Yellow strobe means pushing the barge, spotted that right off, still remember which is a surprise. Y'all take care, fair seas ❤⛵🐶
Once left the dock with a small dog on the boat. Had no idea he was there. Owners had no idea he was gone. I took him back though. Too big to use for bait. Too cute to just toss overboard. J/K.... Gotta watch out of lizards when docked in the keys, seriously. And check under the dinghy if your gonna leave it deck mounted! One peve of mine when docked is I'd rather side tie, but then when you have traffic pass that don't slow down you bang into the piers and then have to get up and go look to see if there's any damage. I hear Ambien is the way to go with this. Although NEVER take that when anchored!!
We enjoy watching your videos and seeing familiar sights. It was nice to meet you and be neighbors in New Smyrna Beach. Safe travels and keep enjoying life to the fullest!
Good job Wes and Kate...I think you guys are already through it (in real time), but the ICW through SC and GA are nice. Hopefully you guys took a rest in Savannah...the tidal currents there are ripping, but it's a beautiful place. Keep it going and you're living the stuff our dreams are made of!!!!
It looked like you anchored at Deep Point, at the bottom of the Alligator River around mile 100. Every time we have been there overnight, we had a lot of fighter plane training flights over the area from, maybe, the Marine Corps air base at Cherry Point, near Oriental. Loud, but usually gone after dark. Your videos are like a visit to familiar places and we are looking forward to passing through there again soon.
Spiders and other insects wandering aboard - maybe you can spray a short section of the dock lines with insect repellant when you tie up for the night.
Been there done that many times.. Used to plan it so we ended up at a marina Bar etc. at Happy Hour every day.. Still is possible.. All the way up and down the east coast.. a blast except outside around New Jersey..
Love the more upbeat music. Would also like to hear about your thoughts contrasting this trip with the first one you made, how this is different, similar, etc. Thanks!
The area you are in right now is nearly unchanged from when the English settlers arrived on Roanoke Island. Alligator River is believed to be the route the survivors of the Roanoke Colony massacre used to flee Roanoke Island. Albermarle Sound does not have the deep waters of the Chesapeake so there are no ships but lot's of wilderness. Due south of Alligator River is Lake Mattamuskeet a favorite location for ducks and geese flying south for winter. The Old Timer
We've been all over the keys and up and down the east coast and our favorite places are on the Pamlico and Albemarle sounds. Manteo, Cape look out, beaufort, you just cant beat them. Cant wait to get back there this spring.
You may want to check out a product called OffBoard Rat Guard. It is a plastic disc that attaches to your dock lines. It keeps rodents and other unwanted guests from coming up your lines. The prices on line are all over the place, but the cheapest I found were at: buyalltraps.com/product/15-inch-offboardr-rat-guard-white/ Definitely will keep rodents out and should slow down ants and spiders.
We used to get spiders in Chicago harbors even on a mooring. Little bastards get blown off of the high buildings and sort of parachute using their web silk in the wind and end up on boats in the harbor. Soooo many spiders in Chicago. They get everywhere on your boat. They LOVE to set up spider metropolis in your lifesling bag. Holy Jesus there can be a billion spiders in there if you keep your boat in Chicago. Just let me drown. Do NOT throw that spider-infested lifesling at me!
Too late now, bit for next time: spiders hate mint. Small bottle of extract in a spray bottle of water; spray on a small section of dock line or wherever they come on. Sprayed my infested porch with it, and didn’t see any more for months.
I don't understand the dog on board? I love dogs, had one since I was 12yrs old but would never go on an extended trip with any animal. How do you keep the animals from going to the bathroom?
@@WickedSalty Happy to hear this. My first dog was the grandson of the movie star Rin Tin Tin. A family friend trains these dogs for the movies and police. He lives outside of Bakersfield on a ranch type with cows. Rex was the only puppy that was able to get out of the pen and took off after the cows. I told my dad that is the one I want. It was my 12yr old birthday present. He became a huge dog and when he got out of the yard my neighbors use to call us and tell us our horse was loose. They all loved him.
I’m not a boater but couldn’t you put a slice in a paper plate and put them half way up the dock lines, would keep most critters off, just my 2 cents worth
Love your videos. But. And there’s. Always a but. , I know it takes hours and hours to edit. Your videos ore slow to release like a month or three weeks
Bayard Taylor really working hard to keep the weekly consistency right now every Wednesday/Thursday hopefully we could do two a week once that is going smoothly. Make sure you’re subscribed and click the bell icon next to subscribe so that you get a reminder when posted!

I hope Oriental went well without any damage. Where I live that storm you spoke of Wes, socked us a good one.
Thanks guys! As always, the music selection was on point! -Brad
Glad to see you guys heading south
I have been missing the three of you. A nice entry from your log of the voyage to warmer weather. You are definitely heading in the right direction!
Great shot of the end of the rainbow.
Glad you guys are making it to warmer weather. I love my Wicked Salty sweatshirt too. Perfect for Minnesota right now. Safe travels.
Steve Angell glad you enjoy it! Thank you!

Good to see you guys back on the move! We’ve missed your cruising videos!

Love the videos. So glad you two are back. Can’t wait to see the rest of the icw vids. Dreaming to make the same trip one day
Some very interesting T-shirts at Coin dock! Lol!
Nice video, I love the sunrises and sunsets!

“Wonder why nobody’s buying em’?” She said with a blush...... haha
We were also in Annapolis over Thanksgiving, on a mooring. I’m sure you’re well ahead of us. Currently anchored in West Palm Beach. Where are you all?
Man! I would've bought y'all a beer! Come back through sometime!
So excited to see y’all on the move!
Be safe out there! if you're a week or so behind... then that storm you're referring to was intense in VA. Look forward to hearing how you fared.

3:53 Lola doesn't like the idea of alligators.
i live in rhode island love the east cost to.. love your vids and vib yeww
Yup, more people in camo....and they just might be packin’. Also, more monster pickup trucks;)
I've criticized your last video so here I am to thank you for a great one this time!
The prime rib in Coinjock is the highlight of the trip south. We get the big one and eat it for a couple of days.
Gary Baker I’ll have to get one next time!
Nice Job, Salties!
>>>>Spray the dock lines with some kind of repellent or essential oil to help keep down on the transfer
Awesome!!!! You guys make the best videos
the camo boats and gunshots in eastern NC leads me to believe it might have been duck hunters.
How do I get a wicked salty hoodie? Saw brother Rob rocking one and they look awesome
Why such the late start South? By the time you cross to the Bahamas it will be time to turn around and head North for hurricane season lol...

Guns... camo boats going by... It's not a "southern thing". It's called "Duck Season"! Welcome to NC.
If you didn't have the prime rib , what did you eat ? Thanks for sharing 😎
zzzx xzzz Kate made quesadillas
It’s duck hunting season on the east coast.
Rockin that mustache

SV Barry Duckworth hahahah I’m checking in there
Where are you guys? We met up at Eliz. City, I'm at Big Majors now...
@@svmagnolia We have been velcroed at Vero Beach for a couple of weeks.
Where did you overnight after Coinjock? Planning to take same route end of Feb
Geoff Phillips we spent the night at deep point in the alligator river, then pungo creek, then oriental
Spiders love boats.
I hope y'all tried that pickled okra.
From Great Bridge to the line is the Virginia cut, it's Coin-ock.. not Coin-Jock
Wrong Tony. It's Coinjock. I cross the bridge every day

Have you made it to Charleston yet?
detentionofficer1stc were in Florida now!

CaptainArt777 she’s well trained and she trained us. We’ve had bird crap all over the deck more frequently and vile than anything close that she does

I sure wouldn't want to traveling at nite
Just curious: what navigation app are you running on your phone?
James Eaton it’s called navionics
Don't kill the spiders...bad luck. Ok to "relocate" them into the water.
G.Gordon Woody
Only bad luck for the spiders!
