    I have been following Dr. MATE SINCE I discover him a couple of years ago. He speaks of what had always been my intuition. Illness start in our minds and developes through our emotions. So thankful for Dr. Mate willingness to share his knowledge to us all. What a gift!

    The medical community will never change. Focusing on the individual, educating through videos, courses, continuing education credits and more. Then naturally others are drawn to us and we teach others. This is a brilliant talk. Thank you.

    I love the way Dr. Mate mentions all his discovery and causes of mental and physical illnesses.. his honest compassionate inquiry will be remembered by the world... I am also a victim of a Narcissist mother thoroughout my whole life. Now Completely healed myself with a compassionate inquiry. Found Guru Rajneesh the Spiritual Zen Master used to listen his discourse to meet my trueself. And finally reconnected myself with the lost essence. I am now happy. Still more miles are to achieved... But l love all my spiritual Master including this Great Dr. Gabor mate... Love you Doctor sahab.. I wish he may live long...

    I love this man Dr Gabor. I have never found any kind of doctor that everything Dr Gabor speaks about how sad, discouraging, losing hope because I feel that there is no one out there that can help me. I have some medical conditions caused by trauma of being sexually abused, divorced, acused which has caused so much trauma, anxiety & depression. I have had suicidal thoughts of not wanting to live in this world & with chronic pain every day but then I think of my children & the pain I would cause them. Yes when I look back at my childhood the trauma also started there. I use to be strong but now mentally I feel like I will lose it & be put in an institution. I feel lost, empty no desire to do anything & no excitement about everything. I wish I could meet Dr Gabor to give me guidance support love & to say you will be ok. If only the world would have so many doctors like him. Sometimes many of them are doctor’s just by the badge that carries their name or in their office door.

      Your story touches me deeply, Eleanor. I have suffered unspeakable suffering and have also experienced your situation of the intractable pain being severe enough that I thought of suicide many times, crying out to God to take me. The only reason I didn't is that it would have destroyed my daughter. I still haven't completely recovered, though the " suicide pain" is gone. I pray that your suffering will be lifted from you and that you recover soon. Sending you love and light 🌻🙏🏼

    My stepfather did that very thing worked with pancreatic cancer right up until he physically couldn't🙏💖 HE WAS AN AMAZING MAN I JUST WISHED HE HAD TOOK IT A LITTLE EASIER BUT HE WAS DOING HIS DUTY.

    Gabor Matè is the most amazing beautiful knowledgeable legend that I, as an Aclass addict have been introduced to Dr Matè at Rehab and this man is my absolute go-to and since being introduced to his talks i haven't touched Aclass drugs since. I have had a life filled with trauma and never feeling good enough. Because I wasn't listening to my body i ended up with Multiple sclerosis 2013. Drugs were my smokescreen but when I listened to Dr Matè i haven't turned back. Namaste Gabor

    The doctor (host) should clarify PTSD from C(complex) PTSD. Those of us suffering from CPTSD rarely if ever get symptom-free after 3-4 weeks. This can be for complex, or also sometimes known as chronic or developmental trauma.
    Love Dr. Gabor Mate. He simply is the best and he has helped so many people, including myself.

      3-4 weeks? I don't know if 3-4 years is enough, especially when dealing with triggers that get reinforced for 30 or 40 years after childhood, even if the parents are dead. Seems to me most cptsd sufferers don't even know treatment is a possibility or cptsd exists until the old coping mechanisms break completely down in their 40s - 60's. By then there is also an addiction layer often, and/or some other misdiagnosis of simple GAD, depression, etc. There is even a correlation between BPD and cptsd.
      My uneducated guess is that most problems in the US today have to do with being full of people with unaddressed childhood abuse and neglect to one degree or another.
      And I think the ACES study is WAY off. I know so many people that would score 0 ACES if asked, but I know specific examples of traumas in their life that they just "shrug off" or minimize. Yet they drink a bottle of wine every night, work obsessively, chase sex, thrills, etc. and are highly reactive, passive aggressive, rigid, or avoidant.
      And most of our leaders, right and left, that seem always angry/resentful/bitter look A LOT like triggered children.

    I think the way to get the medical profession to hear is to educate ourselves and each other , to the point where such knowledge becomes common knowledge. It’s going to take time, and survivors like Gabor with the wisdom and ability to persist in that education are doing just that. … things are already changing. I can tell because our capitalist system is trying to cash in on quick trauma related cures.
    The more we heal ourselves the better able we are to manage and express healthy rage, amd the more we can teach others why there’s a need for it to be expressed.

    I am only 21 mins in. I have healed Crohn’s disease with a modality where you heal trapped emotions and trauma and part of my healing was healing the need to save everyone else. I am now working on adrenal insufficiency and best of all get the pleasure of healing my chronically unwell clients. I use the subconscious to find the trapped emotions and I had not connected my need for approval and healing this illness but makes sense ❤

    Dear Gabor Mate, for all of us who have had to repress or suppress our anger in childhood in order to preserve our attachment to our parents, and now as adults either repress or suppress it or sometimes blow up in a rage, we don't (or at least I don't) have a clue what healthy anger is. Would you describe it? Make a video about it? I personally sometimes suppress my anger, so I am fully aware that it is there. Sometimes, however, I get so extremely angry that it is completely out of proportions. How would I go about expressing this anger in a healthy way? I have been trying to find information about it, but I can't seem to find anything useful. Would you explain it?

      I battle daily, with anger, depression & constant mind-altering pain ...
      It's an epic struggle 🤕
      It's exhausting being angry,
      all of the time. I try to shake it off, turn it off, let it go, forget about it, pray it away, wish it away, hope it away. I am in a perpetual state of defeat ☹️

      Sally, have you tried just being there with the emotions? That's how normal, healthy people do everyday. Shaking, praying, battling it. These are puritanical values and they don't work for actual healing. Sorry, but that is the truth.

    I wonder what doctor Gabor Maté's take is on parents with BPD/NPD and what the healthy parent can do to protect their child of getting harmed. Since divorce would mean 50/50 custody or full custody for the mother, which can also be the parent with the disorder, what can be done in order to circumvent the issue?

      This is silly. You are assuming that that there is one sick person with npd/BPD, and one victim or good parent. How foolish of you? If you have a relationship with someone with a personality disorder, you yourself are deeply traumatized. Hard to see for someone who plays the victim.

    Imagine the amount of trauma Black people have been experiencing for about 400 years in the US. The NativeAmericans also have been suffering due to genocidal actions by this country. Let us be real!
