I think active recall and spaced repetition work great for college freshmen who are taking their general education requirements. Those classes are based on building a foundation for their major. When you reach junior year of college a different study method should be used.
Which method as junior? Just exercising?
@@UberBossPure my suggestion would be more of mind mapping or Feynman technique. By the time you get to be a junior you have moved beyond the basic fundamentals of your major. The further you go in college the more info you need to start connecting together and applying it. The learning at this time is more hierarchical. It’s almost like you actually hear something and you already know the basics but 2 or more things come into your thoughts as possibilities as solution’s because they are tethered to the problem.

To be sure active recall gathering knowledge from long term memory? I feel like I have lot of familiarity with the theory behind these techniques but can’t apply them to my study habits or spot difficult spots in my reading.
