This is why you don't leave a sweet toothed toddler at the kitchen table to finish their dinner and earn dessert. Especially when dessert is sitting out on the counter.

"It flew." Funny boy. He's wracking his brain trying to think of an explanation. He means well, even if he lied. Mom is charmed by him as they are talking.
He doesn't completely realize that the issue was eating the chocolate ....as evidenced by licking his hands to try to get rid of it on his hands. He is so sweet and a really beautiful child .
There is nothing sweet about lying. Wait until he is a teenager. If you don't teach him what is right when he is little, you will have a nightmare of a teen in just a few years.
Rory I would consider chilling out. It is innocent and normal. There is no justifiable reason to be critical of this. He is quite obviously a sweet kid.
I wouldn't have left dessert in view or where they could get it. even if parents were trying use it as an incentive to eat rest of dinner. Even though it was sort of cute the he was trying lick off the evidence of his lie.It looks like he knows he did something wrong but doesn't want to say.
Susan Schafer oh no no, he understands VERY MUCH what the situation is, as evidence when it came up that it could have been an accident he took advantage of it. C'mon, grown up, don't be gullible.
g c She also asked leading questions to get him to admit his guilt (or innocence). Something like, “Did the peanut butter ball fly into your mouth?” Well, that opened up a whole new opportunity for him. He was never going to admit first hand guilt. 🤣
My 9 yo cousin threatened me with a knife. After he did it, I tried to get a video to prove it by saying "do it again! It will be a funny meme." but he said "no" because he knew I was trying to get proof that he did it. Since he refused, I just told my grandma and he said "I only put it in the sink! He lies because he thinks he's the better one!" So she didn't believe me. I hate it when parents only believe the smaller child.
What creative lying, wow! And he's managing to his poker face really well. Mom keeps losing it and laughing. That'll teach him to stop stealing and lying
My thoughts exactly! It's okay to try to get the truth out of the kid. And with one so young you expect the lie. But she should have done what my Mom did. She would tell us that the punishment for a lie was worse than the punishment for doing something wrong, and remind us that Mom's have a way of finding out the truth. That is when she would ask again and give us the chance to fess up. Whatever the punishment was, she would tell us something worse that would have happened if we had lied. For example: "Thanks for telling the truth. It's a good thing you did or you wouldn't have gotten any more at all. But for taking one without permission you have to wait until after supper tomorrow before you can have another." When he got one the next day it would reinforce the lesson about not lying.
king mysterio I thought this too! People give them a pass because they're children and then when they're six and out of control they don't know where they went wrong. You have to start young. It might be cute at first but make sure you teach them a lesson or they'll be stealing your money and thinking it is cute.
What’s wrong with dessert first? Food is food. No wonder children get eating disorders. Let him eat. Someday he may never eat. My whole family made me feel like food was the enemy. What an embarrassing thing to do this to that boy on video.
