New players can also check player vendors as well. Most folks sell mutations serums for 300 caps or less. Bargain basement price compared to Modus.

I’ve gotten mutations from vendors for as low as 200 caps
Yikes, I've overpriced mine then. I go by what I see other vendors selling them for. Usually 2k caps. I need to adjust my prices lol 😂

So I havent played for a while until the last couple weeks.
I mutated a way I saw on youtube but I am wondering if I buy,, say, marsupial at a player vender and I use it that means I could kepp it as long as I have the right perk cards, is that right?

When I first started using bloodied I didn't know about starched genes and I accumulated most of the mutation, it seriously effected the bloodied vats build I was using.
Yeah at the beginning I was the same, acquiring mutations until I realised that starched genes could prevent more and keep the ones I had 😊

All mutations are a positive if u have class freak , do u get less negative effects , angry turtle checked this , I,ve all of them so no need for start genes , my bloodied kicks ass with my two shot explosive pop pop
@@majorlouis956 you still receive negatives with each mutation. As mentioned class freak will reduce each mutation by 75% and with strange in numbers positives are increased by 25% so as mentioned there a little to no cons with taking mutations so that is correct it’s mainly positives 😊
Also you need starched genes because if you accidentally take a radaway without it equipped you will loose your mutations

i used the dirty water method of gaining a chunk of mutations and wow i got good rolls. i had everything i wanted outside of marsupial and eagle eyes, got them both today and its nice having like 13 mutations lol. Herbivore and Egg head are amazing for XP farming or even just passive XP increase like im doing

Yeah I was very anti mutation when I started playing but eventually through my brother & fellow players. I ended up making & absolute Unit of a build. Adapting mutations definitely worth it. Never been a fan of bloodied builds but the DMG isn't arguable lol.
Scaly skins, healing factor and speed demon sound great for me since i just got starch genes at max level, and now i need class freak to remove the drawback, and i love to run and gun and stuff like that
Healing factor definitely saves you a lot of stim packs in between fights.😂
as a hybrid build, the melee mutations and ranged mutations dont work well together, but even with my melee i find bird bones EXTREMELY good
especially with speed demon + marsupial + bird bones
#1 must run mutation; Marsupial always my beloved hops and carry weight
To be honest, that was the very first mutation I got too!

Awesome video! I have a lot of mutations myself and they’re so worth the caps 🥰
This may have changed or I may even be mis-remembering this though I believe one of the few things you missed is that Serum induced mutations come with a temporary period of have no negative side effects at all and it might be possible to lock them in that temporary state with the starch genes perk. As another note combining cannibalism (especially at high perk points) can pretty much render hunger irrelevant with mutations that aggravate that state.
You're actually 100% right, you have a temporary period of having no negative side effects, however that only lasts for 1hr.
However, in my own opinion, I feel it's better to be locked into the build from the get go, once you have the mutations you want.
It can be very easy to just go about your normal business in the game and if you forget to equipped the correct perks and that temporary period has passed and you take a rad away or start feeling the negative effects, it can get a bit messy.
But that's just my own opinion
HE FORGOT TO TELL YOU ISOTOPES LOWERS YOUR CARRY CAPACITY BY LIKE 50-100
it increases your carry cspacity by 20
Yeah the affixes change for the mutation
I highly recommend using mutant on your weapon rolls if u rock mutations, you will get a 5% damage increase for each mutation up to 25%, I rock a mutant flaming dual bar chainsaw and I can almost one touch kill anything

A thing to note, is that if you use 'Marsupial' along with the 'Strange in Numbers' perk, every single jump on neutral terrain will result in a Power Armored player staggering upon landing. Really damn annoying - certain weapons (Plasma rifle, Tesla Rifle, but not a Flamer-barrel plasma gun, for example. Obviously more, but this is what I know) can cancel this animation by firing a shot, and a frame-perfect shot will cancel the animation without firing a bullet - it's kind of jank, but allows you to get moving faster.
I guess Bird Bones would just cancel this entirely, and save you from having to learn some arcane tech? I haven't actually tried it yet - still scrounging caps for recipes, in case i don't like something and need to purge.
I got 7 mutations and they seem to work well. Guass rifle medic/gourmand.

Have they made the serums more scarce or something recently? I cant seem to find anyone selling them at their camps and most the high level people ive asked dont have them either
My only goal for the past 3 weeks is to get the plans for marsupial serum. I've been to 5k camps and nobody has it

Question if I understood correctly. If you can get radiated you get some random mutation? Do you need to have any serum or mutation bought/acquired before that?
so you don't need to buy serems if you want to get radiated and get random mutations , the serums you can buy automatically give you those specific mutations 😊
Good guide, now i see why so many show radiated.
New players when leaving the volt can go down to the river and collect or drink the water. After a sort time they get mutated. And then later find shower at someone’s camp once you’ve collected ones you want to get rid of mutations then add ones you want there are three normally for commando builds. I’ll make you a plasma flamer riffle level 45 but not a god roll one to help level up mad, I sell those or keep afew as they break quickly. Highlander1692

My best advice is that if you don't have the caps to purchase the serums from modus or if you can't find them in other players vendors or somebody can't craft it for , then I'd advise trying to go to west tec
If you go inside there's a tiny little hallway that has glowing goo that you can pick up which will give you 125 rads every time you down one.
and once you've gotten the mutations you want, stick on starched genes as that will prevent you from loosing any of the mutations you've acquired after you've take a Radaway 🤘

i just started playing, got the Adrenal Reaction mutation on my like lvl 13 char wading thru a river. I had to cure it cause i don't think i quite have the setup to be low hp as a low lvl XD

When you apply these serums to the character, do they disappear after a certain period of time or do I need to get a plan? I used marcupial serum and after a while the character disappeared!

Great question but what exactly do you mean?
As in the weapon itself or the legendary rolls?
It's just there's a entire quest you need to complete to get a chance of getting the plan to learn the fixer plan itself and then when it comes to legendary rolls that's just basically tons of legendary rolling with legendary modules 😊
How do I remove specific mutations?
Great question!
Unfortunately you cannot remove specific mutations , when removing mutation you need to use a Radaway and that will remove a random mutation from your character so unfortunately that’s out of our control but I we have more control over what mutations we want to get through buying and crafting serums ☺️
As helpful as the video is, I need to know how he's doing like 400-700 damage per shot. I have 4 different Fixers and am struggling haha.

Do marsupial serums last forever?
Every mutation, regardless of what it is will last forever, only if you have the starched genes perk card equipped.
If you don't have that card equipped and at max rank and then you use a radaway, then your mutation will go as radaway cures mutations.

Is there a mutation lockout imposed by a lingering effect after using radaway, or after getting rid of a mutation? I spent probably 30 radaway and who know how much toxic goo just trying to get a single one and got nothing. Really stung after realizing how stupid of an idea it was to get rid of my half-assed bloodied melee build and try something else and struggling hard
My best advice is try and use radaway to get rid of the mutations you have or if you're lucky you might be able to keep at least one or two you need for the build you want and then instead of using toxic goo, I'd advise investing some time in saving up caps to try and purchase the serums at the whitesprings bunker in the aid category of modus's inventory 😊
you can server hop if you don't find the mutation you need in his inventory and then mutations will reset once you hop server!
However the cheapest way but can really depend on if players are selling them is to look in player's inventories as players usually sell them pretty cheap.
That's my best advice in order to get the mutations you want compared to the method you're currently tyring :)
I also learned if you get a mutation changed worlds and do it again cause you can only get one mutation by rad a session

So there’s no point in drinking water or food 😂 I feel so defeated
Well for survival reasons, you don't really need to rely on water and food anymore as there's buffs and perks you can get now that auto fills your hunger and thirst.
Plus, roughly a year or two ago, Bethesda removed the requirement to eat and drink to negate any negative effects to not eating and drinking and kept it so that if you're fully fed and hydrated, you'll only gain buffs to your character.
So there's only really a 50% requirement now to drink water and eat food 😅
Man is there anyone someone generous enough that can sell the plans or make it 1 im going for the vats commando build for my first playthrough😭😭😭🙏🙏

Yeah some mutations can quite literally be a major hindrance on your build, so definitely best to get rid of it as quick as possible 👀

You'll find out that earning caps in this game will come very easily, however starting off it can be difficult.
Just keep on levelling up and working your way through the main storyline and DLC's and sell what you don't need!
It can be very easy to hold onto everything you come across as yes, we do need things for ammo crafting, camp building, weapon management etc... However, what you don't need, just sell!
Plus! Put a vendor at your camp and sell things you don't need and other players might purchase things from you.
You'll then be flowing in the caps 😊
Someone gave me mutation recipes but I can't read the recipe to learn it.

Unless the recipe is locked to your character now but I’ve never heard of not being able to learn the plan? 🤔
What does it say in your inventory ? Known or plan?
If it says plan and you can’t learn it then I’d recommend logging a ticket with Bethesda Support as that could be a bug 🐛
pvp would have been enjoyable...if not for these awful things. by far the worst feature in this game
yeah PVP needs some serious love very soon , tbh it needed some serious love a long time ago but they need to focus on it sometime this year

Forcing a solo player to team up with people to get a stronger positive effect of his/her mutation is equal to punishing that player for playing solo. Just an unfair thing to do, in my opinion. This perk should be made possible for casual solo players to acquire as well.
There is a perk for solo players that is quite powerful...
