I'll be interested to hear whether the bar gets in the way when trying to write in the notebook. That's the only thing holding me back. Also, they don't have the No 7 in A5, the middle size is 5x7, so I'm hoping to use a B6 notebook in there so I can use better paper (fountain pen friendly). Oh, and you're now at 11 :)

a 3.5 x 6 wouldn't work because of the metal bar that holds it in. Maybe if you modified the spine of the notebook though it could fit.

I'm about to do an update on it. I just got a different notebook for it that I didn't think would fit but it did.
