death crosses have innate homing on mobs marked as 'innocent creatures' one time i made a digging wand that was: spark bolt trigger -> saw blade orbit -> death cross i tested it in the holy mountain to see how good at digging it was the death crosses immediately homed in on the fish which were on the opposite side of me, killing me instantly via sawblade orbit
There's more to fish, the message in the credits "thanks for the fish" (Hitchhikers reference), they die to fall damage, they disintegrate with concentrated mana, and they are connected to orbs. I'm convinced fish are a part of the unsolved mysteries.
There is so much more about those fish. Death cross auto homing? Duying (but not melting) in concentraited mana? Fall damage? Stainless? Mentioning in true 34 orb ending? Fish are still hiding secrets.
I think death crosses home in on any critters (I have actually died once by trying to shoot Steve with a Death Cross on trigger and it homing on a fish which made the cross fly into my shield and get stuck, exploding me in the process)
Death Cross homes on any creature under the "helpless" faction (and I believe on you as well, if the spell was shot by an enemy), so things like ducks and sheep are susceptible to it too.
I think the strangest thing about fish is that they are automatically targeted by death cross spells even if the death cross has a homing modifier. This makes death crosses pretty much unusable in the snowy depths, because all shots just go towards them, this strange behavior killed me several times
SO. He didn't say directly but when the fish die, their bodies are labeled "meat of an innocent creature". He also didn't mention that the fish are Stainless 100% you cannot even give them the ambrosia effect or polymorph them. he also didn't mention the fish are able to take fall damage. the fish can also die to "sharp floor" or uneven terrain. WHY are they Stainless, innocent creatures that the God's lackey kills? Stevari doesn't attack every creature on sight. he wont kill spiders even when they break the holy mountain. Why does he kill the "stainless innocent fish of true knowledge" why do the fish only appear to you after you have gained "true knowledge"? there's many puzzles in the game that require you to pour specific liquids in the available space. here we have two tanks and only one has fish. what is the puzzle we are missing?? has anyone got all the fish and then put an equal amount of another creature in the other tank? there's another type of fish that's red....

They melt when poured with concentrated mana, therefore they are robots. Do you know what kind of creature cannot be stained? ROBOTS(also worms and lukki but they don't melt on concentrated mana). I think steve attack them for being "unholy" or something like that. No idea at all about the death cross.
My theory for the fish was if you killed one you lost a fish for the remainder of the run, or if the fish live, you get an additional fish next run. I never tested it and im clearly wrong now, but its neat that everything in noita has effects on everything else!
I just recently bought and started playing Noita, I'm having so much fun but this game is incredibly complex. I love it and love that you and Fury are still making videos on it :)

I have never realized that fishes are representation of orb progress. And I have spent a lot of time Noiting. I also have 33 orbs done, but this info about fishes is still new for me. Amazing game.
Maybe the fish are meant to be moved to the cauldron as they are a relatively "permanent" addition to a game save and that the cauldron room is also called Altar of permanence. I remember Fury mentioning "Thank you for the fish" being seen in the game engine on one of his latest noita videos so it could be relevant to the cauldron as well. And if what one of the comments here said is right with fish being the Only creatures in the game to take fall damage, and the cauldron being a difficult area to get the fish to, it could also be relevant. But the fish being at the cauldron has to be met with a specific condition like what day they are placed in according to the cauldron's schedule and what are done to them (maybe killed? (with a specific spell?)) Maybe the reason why its called Altar of permanence is that we have to put something thats permanent into the cauldron. And what else is permanent than True knowledge? (Subsequently, in the form of a fish) I don't play a lot of noita anymore but that was fun to think about.
Just a note - save00 is not in the Steam library directory. It's normally in %localappdata%Low\Nolla_Games_Noita\save00 (you can copy that into your file explorer address bar).
This video was interestingly informative! It was fun getting to know that fish spawn that way, I just thought they were random Getting to know about the comment left behind when checking the files was also entertaining!
I think there's a different method that involves putting fish in the cauldron room. I just haven't been able to prove it yet because getting a fish in there is hard. I've gotten close tho.
@@denizyldrm580 if you or someone else seeing this reply wants to try it, all you need is the Sädekivi and a circle of buoyancy. the idea is to make a direct path past the cauldron room to the surface so you can take the fish out of the mountain pond and have a straight shot back down.

@@andrewbrowning1931 A jumbled mess of rotating plasma beams, homing explosive crates, curse damage, and whatever else I could fit on a spark bolt trigger. That and black hole / teleport wands for keeping distance. Worked well enough to beat the 8-orb boss.

1. “Infinite” Parallel worlds. Which means you go until the game engine literally will start to break and the game will start crashing. The devs didn’t put a limit. 2. You don’t take them to the alter, you take them to the tower! The little guys can ride in the rocket below the lava lake and the big guy you just have him follow you there!

Can you please make a video about the wand that uses Field of Transmogrification, Electric Damage and Homing? I think it's a pretty good wand because you can hit enemies behind the walls without destroying the environment. In case Homing is not available I like to add Orbiting Arc and accelerating shot and by moving the mouse various fields will fly away from the caster.

@Имя Фамилия Honestly if it's like that I would guess they decided to number it like that to keep things straightforward in case they decided to add other orbs, that way they won't have to shift all the parallel world orbs' ID. As for why those numbers in particular, the starting points for parallel world IDs are powers of 2 (2^7 and 2^8), but I only think it's because programmers are weird and really like powers of 2 lol; if I had to guess, it's neither an efficiency reason nor does it hide any hidden messages
Unrelated to the fishes. How can you change the teleportation value with one click? 1:38 I searched everywhere and I didn't find anything. When I click on the number it just made an annoying sound and it starts to tick me off.

you can teleport them or use a circle spell - its incredibly frustrating and they all seem to die super easily, but people have tried movving the fish around in the noita discord and havent got anything out of it
I've been wondering if you can move the orbs without actually "absorbing" them and if you can what would happen if you get together orbs in the same place that way

No it should have given the 33 fish I am pretty sure. Because as you can see in the video, I have a mod turned on and it still recorded the orb being grabbed. How many fish do you have?
@@DunkOrSlam I have 12 or 13. In my orbs folder it lists 0-13 and then 129 and then 256. Not really sure whats going on there. Edit: Actually i can confirm that 11, 12, and 13 came during that 33 orb run because i still have the previous run saved before that one and it only has up to 10 and 256.
don't try to kill everyone like you could do at higher zones unless you have a sick wand and learn how to deal with the way hissi attacks you. training avoiding getting hit and growing your reflexes is important to master noita

Make a wand that one shots everything in the base. It's really not that difficult. I just had a run get noita'd as I was about to enter the holy mountain after obliterating hiisi base with my damage up+bloodlust triplicate bolt wand with homing and then BOOM 2 BIG ASS WORMS INSTA KILL ME. I was so pissed. I just got the game like 4 days ago and haven't gotten a win yet but I keep getting so so close. My problem is I keep exploring for better wands lol

Death Cross homes in on "innocent" animals, including fish, deer, polymorphed sheep, and basically any "passive" creature in the game.
Well, it finally happened... I suppose if I kept playing it was bound to happen at some point. After 218 hours, I died to a Heikkohurtta attack...

you can teleport them or use a circle spell - its incredibly frustrating and they all seem to die super easily, but people have tried movving the fish around in the noita discord and havent got anything out of it

I've been wondering if you can move the orbs without actually "absorbing" them and if you can what would happen if you get together orbs in the same place that way
you can with circle of buoyancy or a few stacks of never skip leg day. I tried putting all the orbs in the cauldron and nothing happened.
@@PTETdorf did you take an orb to the altar where you take the tablets? or to the anvil? also have you ever collected an orb in front of kulmi? there is a delay between collecting the orb and the shield activating. it makes a sound effect but ive never seeen what it looks like.
@@V1ctoria00 ppl have already tried taking orbs to the alter. It is very ez since one spawns right below it.

i have no idea how this happened but an orb i collected in 2023 has number 256 instead of 8, kinda silly
im a new player, maybe grabbed 2 orbs, ive seen like 20 fish at times.

He pronounces it the way 99% of people who don't say "gee-you-eye" say it.
I worked on an assembly line, and the admins used a program with GUI in the name. They pronounced it the same way, "gooey."
I thought it was weird at first but it actually seems like a pretty common pronunciation.
this is the common way to pronounce it, im a software eng and "gooey" is the most common pronunciation.

I did a 33 orb run but it didnt give me 33 fish, is that because i did it in a daily?
No it should have given the 33 fish I am pretty sure. Because as you can see in the video, I have a mod turned on and it still recorded the orb being grabbed. How many fish do you have?
@@DunkOrSlam I have 12 or 13. In my orbs folder it lists 0-13 and then 129 and then 256. Not really sure whats going on there.
Edit: Actually i can confirm that 11, 12, and 13 came during that 33 orb run because i still have the previous run saved before that one and it only has up to 10 and 256.

don't try to kill everyone like you could do at higher zones unless you have a sick wand and learn how to deal with the way hissi attacks you.
training avoiding getting hit and growing your reflexes is important to master noita

Make a wand that one shots everything in the base. It's really not that difficult. I just had a run get noita'd as I was about to enter the holy mountain after obliterating hiisi base with my damage up+bloodlust triplicate bolt wand with homing and then BOOM 2 BIG ASS WORMS INSTA KILL ME. I was so pissed. I just got the game like 4 days ago and haven't gotten a win yet but I keep getting so so close. My problem is I keep exploring for better wands lol
