HOw anyone could criticize his playing is beyond me... he's got a beautiful tone and impeccable articulation and makes everthing look and sound effortless. What more could you possibly want in a trumpet player?
Watch the documentary "No more wunderkind" (on UA-cam) to get an idea how Nakariakov has developed from a child prodigy into an artist. He is amazing on the flugelhorn too. An incredible musician.
"Nakariakov studied the piano as a young child (his sister, Vera, plays it professionally), but moved on to trumpet in 1986 after a spinal injury caused by a car accident curtailed his piano studies." This is very likely the reason for his body language and posture. I would give you the source of the quote but apparently Google doesn't allow that, but if you search for metroactive Sergei Nakariakov it should pop up.
Ok... His lower jaw is receded and his mouthpiece placement is more on the top lip then bottom... THAT = Bell to the floor. Nothing wrong with that and to change it would actually lead to him pushing his head back and closing his throat. That would be not so good. Amazing thing is that his intuition as a very young player lead him to resist all the changes people wanted him to do because he "plays different".
Sergei is certainly one of the most accomplished technical players the world has ever seen - his technique is impeccable and he has a great tone in every register. However, his body language, demeanor and trumpet pointed at the floor is simply not appropriate for an international artiste. His mastery of the notes is sublime, but emotionally I find very little behind the notes...
I do not understand the staging, here. Why stand BEHIND the pianist? Great performance, nevertheless... but IT JUST AIN'T RIGHT, for MANY reasons. DON'T do that. Think about all of the possible reasons to NOT present that look.
Great work on the trumpet - but don't let's forget the super piano accompaniment too!

simply the best trumpet/brass player on the planet
He had that piece mastered when he was a teenager...I didn't think it could get any better, but about 13 years later he proved otherwise.
Impeccable the timing control articulation and such a beautiful mellow tone. Unbelievable
Sergei is one of my favourit trompetters
Such a beautiful sound and so moving!
I love it!

Love the tuning part in the beginning. He's like: "Well, half a tone off... close enough. I'll bend it" :)

holy fuck
Norma seems like a pretty easy trumpet piece to learn, but when Sergei takes thing double tonguing time, it takes the whole piece to a new level.
Non e' umano non si puo' spiegare una tecnica simile!!!
That is like saying Dizzie Gellespie didn't have a good sound because he puffs his cheeks.
@Stalker200867
you mean god happens :D
Yes he's just a technician, but a remarkable one.
Spendid
Why can't I do that.
Christopher Upton How are you doing now?

Adolph Herseth, considered to have been a rather fine trumpet player, taught that ONLY the sound mattered.

I wish I had his technique, but there doesn't seem to be very much depth to his playing-
Как это малограмотно ВАРИАЦИИ НА ТЕМУ оперы НОРМА. Совсем забывать русским языка. Позорники.
I don't like his sound very much.
Dude, would appreciate to listen to some of your recordings
