    Franke Olympus Spare Parts to repair your leaking or dripping tap.
    Compatible spares for models,
    Olympus S,
    Olympus Side Spray,
    Filterflow (The Filterflow takes two anticlockwise and one clockwise)
    *We now stock replacement handles*
    If your Olympus tap is dripping out of the spout then its time to replace the cartridges. They are easy to change with just a 17mm spanner and a 2mm allen key. You can easily do this task yourself. No special tools needed.
    Your cartridge may come out with the adaptor bush attached to the cartridge. If this happens you can try and separate them however corrosion can make them very difficult to remove. If you cannot separate then you will need to purchase a new adaptor bush.
    The Franke cartridge may be known by the following spare part references; s1022 , SP3561, 3561R, 1427R, 133.0438.152, 133.0438.154, 133.0069.364, 133.0069.365 , 133.0194.088, 133.0194.089

    Followed your instructions.
    First attempt failed because the leak was coming from the bushe and not the valve itself.
    Ordered that bushe from you and then started over.
    Voila. No more leak.
    This has been done by a white collar chap. So if I can do it following your excellent instructions, there's hope for everyone out there 😂

    Very useful. Thanks for explaining about the bush around the cartridge. Before I watched your vid I'd managed to get the cartridge out and thought I'd got the wrong part. Used a grip on the bush and a spanner on the cartridge, once I had it in my hand, squirt of magic WD40 and it untwisted fine. Lot of limescale in and around the various old parts so I gave it all a good clean inside before re-assembling. Both sides now done, took me an hour in total.

    I bought the 3 replacement cartridges from you, and had them fitted professionally,
    We ended up showing them your video, on how to change the cartridges,
    and the darn tap still drips!
    I might have a go at refitting them myself, as I’m not happy with the “ professional “ fitting, and cannot afford another £50 for them to come back out.

    I was all set to replace the whole unit when both the spout and tap began to leak and due to the fact that the original fitter did not use the flexi hose (why do that??) it would have been a crap job. Both parts changed (as you say with a bit of brute force due to corrosion) everything is drip free. Thanks for doing this.

      You can try some heat (hot
      Water over the handle) to try and break the corrosion seal.

    My basin mixer tap is a Franke Olympus tap and recently started leaking from Spout.
    I have purchased the replacement O ring parts but I am unable to unscrew it and cannot remove the Spout.
    Also, the tap is dripping So I tried to remove the handle and look into the cartridge if it needs to be replaced. But when I removed its screw the stiffed cold handle and the cover of the cartridge does not move clockwise or anti-clockwise at all.
    Any idea of how to loosen it and which tool can unscrew it without a scratch or denting it.
    Regards
    Ali

    What's the best approach to removing a stuck handle? I've taken grub screw out, loosened the collar part but the actual handle won't come off. On the video it looks like it falls off without much trouble but I've spent 30 mins trying to get handle off!

    • @tapmagician
      @tapmagician  6 років тому

      Hi, Sorry to hear you are having trouble, some of the handles can get corroded on to the spline of the cartridge and are very hard to pull off. It will come off but you will just have to use a lot of force, whilst bracing the tap block. I hope you are able to remove it!

    • @tallhatuk
      @tallhatuk 6 років тому

      thanks, finally managed it - yes it was corroded/seized on, took about half an hour to release as was nervous about damaging the surface of the tap if i used tools, but with a bit of huffing and puffing it finally eased off. all good now.

    • @tallhatuk
      @tallhatuk 6 років тому +2

      and if it helps anyone else, even though the whole bush unscrewed with the cartridge (as you say it might), but then i put a cloth around the bush, then clamped around the bush with some wide jaw plumbing pliers and managed to spanner the cartridge out.

    • @firstman9273
      @firstman9273 3 роки тому

      My handle was stuck, I resorted to hammering it off with a bit of wood as a drift. Of course this then broke the splines off the cartridge and left them inside the handle. After soaking in descaling solution the splines came out of the handle easily. I wonder if a spray of WD40 through the grub screw hole using one of those red needle tubes that come with WD40 sometimes..... would have helped to soften the scaling and it might have just pulled off.
      I too have removed the cartridge from the bush using water pump pliers. I need to buy a new cartridge now which come with the splines intact.

    • @nickdutton6218
      @nickdutton6218 4 роки тому

      @@JayG2K I ended up breaking the cartridge inside, snapped the tap handle off with it. Couldn't get it from out of the tap handle spines, so I bought a whole new tap. Soak it in limescale removing fluid for a few hours and give it a swirl now and then, it got most of the limescale sticking it on for me, until I whacked it with a hammer 😵

    • @firstman9273
      @firstman9273 3 роки тому

      I also could not get the handle off after removing the grubscrew. I hit it off with a hammer and a bit wood, broke the splines inside the handle - soaked with descaler and the splines come out.
      My idea for anyone reading this would be to spray WD40 through the grubscrew hole (using the red nozzle tube) until you can just pull it off. You can use water pump pliers and a 17mm socket to remove the cartridge from the bush.

      There may be end caps on the side of the tap which can be prized off with a small flat implement like a knife or screwdriver, you should get to the screws that way.

    Good luck with this. On my eiger tap the grubscrews dont turn (felt like they are rounded off before i even start), and so its going to cost 100 quid to get plumber out to replace tap. Plus 70 quid for a new tap as the old Franke tap is clearly cheap rubbish made out cheapskate components. Will never buy Franke again.
