- In this video, I go over my process for making an RTV silicone mold using a DIY wax injector. These wax injections will later be cast using the lost wax casting method.

"Not an expert" ?
Mate, you're a friggin genius!
Awesome and super useful videos.
Thank you so much! 🙏🙏🙏
Hey man I don’t usually comment much but just wanted thank you for always making clear and easy to follow videos. Respect.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that 🙌
Thank you for another great video!
Hey man here just to say thanks, this is what i call professional n quality!
Thank you so much 😁🙏
Soooo good, easy to follow too! I started making a chain and was wondering how to replicate the mold at home without the expensive costs behind doing so! Thankyou!
Thank you for watching! Best of luck with making your own mold!
This video was awesome! Thank you so much, way more affordable than those wax injection machines! (Fun little project too)
Happy it helped! thanks for watching 😄
Thank you for this video!!
Thank you for watching! 😁
Man’s genius
So kewl to see someone doing it the same way I do - im a big fan of diy and "on the cheap", lol 😏👍
Great video, thank you.
Couple things that helped me -
1 - I cut air vents after de-molding the item
2 - I microwave my mold to heat it before injecting wax (cant guarantee what its doing to the life of the mold)
3 - I made a long tube on my injector instead of the tip like you have.
Personal preference, but I get my silicone from silicones inc.
GI 1000 10 to 1
Ive tried many and love working with this stuff - long library life.
Thank you for the tips! 😃 I've never tried that silicone but I'll have to look into it.
Good , I liked the way to put air vents, I normally cut air vents in v shape as many as I like so the pattern is filled completely with out any flaw. And now I will try 1mm dia wire to attach to the master, as air vents. And I never use talcum powder , as I want every pattern to be highly polished as the master model, I have prepared.
My two cents.
May all be happy and at ease free from dis-ease.
This is a great video! I’ve just got one question if it’s okay? How do you know where to place the vents?
For example, I’m trying to cast a simple signet (with an engraving in the wax top), and I’m finding that I continuously get incomplete castings. Only one of 10 attempts has been successful.
Any tips for rings? Would you consider making a mould of your lion head ring in a tutorial?
Another great video! If you dont mind me asking, how did you manage to cut the silicon island in the top of the pendant?
Thank you! I like to slowly cut along the outside profile (keeping in mind where I want the seem to be). Then when the inside island is easier to get to, I try to gently stretch the silicone and cut along the center so that the wax releases easily on both sides of the mold.
Hope that makes sense 😅
Love the info and videos!!
Much appreciated!!
What type of video setup do you have, very nice quality!
Thank you so much! I use a little Panasonic LUMIX LX10 mostly, with a small overhead LED panel for lighting 😁

Ahh ok, thanks!
I have a camera set-up I still need to figure how to use and get better details.
Can't wait to someday make molds for casting stuff.
In time!!
Respect For video thank u masaer
Thank you for watching! 🙏
What are the specs of your mold frame? The link for it is no longer working
Hi Josiah, can you please tell me where you source your sticky wax from? My research shows a number of options online with mixed reviews. Yours seems effective. Thanks!
It's Sculpture House Microcrystalline Wax. It's a soft/sticky modeling wax that works great for casting.
I get mine at Black art supplies:

Hi! im trying to find the mold frame that you used and the ebay listing is no longer live and i cant seem to find the correct search terms to find what im looking for, is there any chance you could point me in the correct direction?
Sorry about that! If you search "RTV mold frame" or "castaldo mold frame" I'm sure you'll see what you're looking for 😊
