I don't know much about the press you use or the Silicone, but I know all about making molds. So my question is, when you're making the mold why don't you make registration marks then coat that half in mold release before placing more silicone on top? Wouldn't doing this save time, because you wouldn't have to cut the part free from the mold? I would think that any marks you made would get filled when the silicone melts, or that's what I think is going on when it's pressed... again I have no experience with the silicone or machine you're using, I work with two part solutions.
This is a process used by ancient Indians and then used by Chinese, Arabs and subsequently by Europeans. (Europeans created cannons using the same technology and used them against India to colonies her) The two part moulding will perhaps still complicate, if not rendering it impossible, the process as high degree of accuracy and flexibility is required in creating the wax pieces. The mold is evacuated before wax injection. For this evacuation purpose the molds not only have to be dimensionally stable and air tight but also flexible for the delicate wax piece to be removed from it without deforming. Naturally they have to be void of any foreign matter like a mold release agent etc.
This is a little different than pouring liquid silicon. In this video he is using silicon rubber which is vulcanised using heat and pressure. The silicon rubber is compressed in the metal mould frame and forms around the ring (blank). The silicon rubber then retains its shape during vulcanisation. Key cuts need to be deeply cut and geometrical to mitigate movement when moukd halves A and B are clamped together before pouring the wax into the mould. If you were to cut the female key into mould half A then clamp it to mould half B then it is unlikely that mould half B would properly press into the key in A. In fact, it would barely fill it and will have rounded edges thus failing to provide positive location. The mould will likely fail. Of course, liquid silicon poured into Side A would naturally fill the female key perfectly but that is not the case in this video.
