Joan Taylor is Professor of Christian Origins and Second Temple Judaism at King’s College London. She has authored numerous books and articles, notably The Immerser: John the Baptist within Second Temple Judaism (1997), situating John in his historical, cultural and religious context. She also works on the Bible in cultural reception (Jesus and Brian, 2015), women/ gender and the body (editing The Body in Biblical, Christian and Jewish Texts, 2014), and the Dead Sea Scrolls (The Essenes, the Scrolls and the Dead Sea, 2006). The Bible says, that Jesus Christ had “wholly hair”. However, He came not to show His physical appearance for He is “the Word which Became Flesh” - to pay the debt of all our sin- which was eternal separation and condemnation. He came to Redeem us and transition us back into becoming whole again like we were originally created before the contamination of sin. Interesting. I think it's important to note that the purpose of ancient Christian iconography was not to provide a photographic image of the one depicted. Features of the image were determined theologically and liturgically. Early Christians understood that the image is symbolical.
Two other points. Jesus was likely well built or at least fit as he had worked as a carpenter, a job that requires a good bit of physical strength. Also, Judas had to kiss Jesus to identify him for the Jewish/Roman soldiers, implying that he appeared and was dressed in much the same manner as his disciples.
Good points. Strong views. All the evidence suggests to me that Jesus was white.

First, the people who went to capture Jesus were Temple guards not Roman soldiers. These guards knew exactly who Jesus was and what he looked like. No mention of the Shroud of Turin, which has its weight in Christian iconography, no matter what you think of its authenticity. Also, the "one-piece tunic" was actually a priced item, not a cheap one, as Taylor says. She insists on poverty in dressing as a statement about siding with the poor, but it risks being no less ideological than the imitation of emperors and gods, especially considering the messianic (and therefore kingly) appeal that is as important as attention for the poor in Jesus ministry.

As a baby His parents were warned to flee into Egypt by an angel as Herod wanted to kill the holy infant. If He was white with blonde hair and blue eyes, he would have been easy to spot amongst the native brown skinned ancient Egyptians. Egypt is referred to in the Bible as the Land of Ham; one of Noah's sons who is the progenator of the black races. You can find plenty of online references to this by Biblical scholars etc. Modern scientists too have DNA evidence that the ancient Jews were people of colour e.g. a range of brown skin tones. Equally the same for the Egyptians by taking DNA from the mummies. I have studied this topic in depth from a range of sources.

It is shocking that no mention was made of the depiction of Jesus by the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, and equally shocking that the speaker confessed of having no knowledge of the vast number contemporary “debates” on what Jesus looked like especially among black scholars. .

I do not buy the Zeus line. I do imagine Jesus looked middle eastern... darker skin and hair and probably brown eyes. I do believe that Iconography could have developed his traditional appearance however because it is all about symbolism. I have heard the tunic described the other way around. That the seamless tunic was valuable, (not cheap) thus they did not want to ruin it. So they cast lots. I think the first makes more sense than the second. Wouldn't a seamless garment be harder to make? I think she is doing a bit of what she accuses others. Depicting Him the way she wants Him to look like.

Revelations simply means to reveal

His head and his hair is is referring to his facial hair and also the hair on his head. It was a commandment to have a beard and not make baldness upon your head (Leviticus 21:5), and white like wool as white as snow meaning texture and color. What people on the planet have woolly like hair 🤔. And what is the color of brass? It's a shade of brown... that has been burnt in the furnace... So Christ with a dark man.

Who is the wicked 🤔... who's running the world?... Covering the faces of the judges is speaking of the prophets and how they whitewashed the original images.

Heathens are any nation outside of Israel which are considered to be a gentile. They use their images to portray the depiction of Christ in the Prophets.

But when it comes to the genetics, over 90% of the modern Jews are either Ashkenazi, Sephardi or Mizrahi, and many genetic studies show that they share common Middle Eastern genetic origins. Wow! This issue about Jesus reminds me of what He asked His disciples, Who do men say that I am?" Actually, you don’t have to look very far. Jesus’s biological brothers will give us a clue how he looks like as they carry the same genes through Mary. For sure Jesus would have some degree of resemblance to them. Also, Mary will give us a clue as He carried Mary’s genes.
