Great video!! I am loving the different wicks in this one. It’s a wick I’m not super familiar so I was super interested. Great knowledge as always here. Grateful for these videos! 🖤☺️
I just offer the recommendations based on what the maker who made the candles is using. If they use cotton wicks I discuss those options. But I've reviewed plenty of woodwick ones as well on the channel. But this maker isn't wanting to use them, so it didn't make sense to recommend those here. I also have a dedicates wood wick video too. :)
Love these reviews! So helpful to see where the fixes would be. Question about zinc wicks. What size Zinc wick do you recommend starting out with for a 3in jar with 6006?
I don't. Lol... so the issue there is the diameter/jar size. It is already a super hard size to wick. With 6006, its even tougher. You will need such a large zinc wick to get the job done that it will mushroom like crazy. Been there, done that myself. Your best bet with a jar that size is a) use two very small wicks. You would have to do a lot of testing here to see what works though. Or, b) dont use that combo of 6006/jar as it can be very tough. Its just an uphill battle.
Do you mind helping me out? I use 6006 using the 9 oz straight sided jar. I have tested Eco 4, Eco 6 & HTP 83 and I still have NO HT! I have made and tested over 40 candles using different fragrances at varies FO%s because I know some fragrances just work better in candles. I even used your video as reference when you made those Blue Spruce candles. I feel super defeated and I just don’t know what else to do. Thank you in advance.
Hey Michelle. First, I wanted to mention that Candlescience did change the formula of their blue spruce FO. I have noticed a definite less HT since then. As far as good HT. It's so hard because we all have different sense of smell. Some think it's weak others think it's strong. If you haven't tried zinc core wicks yet give them a shot. Good HT with 6006 as well. If you are having this much of an issue with ht using 6006 though. I'd be concerned about about your lot/batch of wax. Do you have another you can test?.or do u have any other waxes to try?
@@BlackTieBarn thank you for your reply! I only have 2 40lb boxes of wax. I also thought that may have been my problem so I tried wax out of both boxes. I will keep trying. I appreciate your response
Girl, same! I’m also struggling with wicking the 9oz s.s.j for this wax! I’ve tried the HTP 105, CD 8, CD 12, ECO 4, ECO 6> I will take Wades advice and order the Premier and Zinc wicks next!! 🤷🏾♀️ test, test, test is all I’m hearing. 🤑🤑🤑 is all I’m spending!! lol good luck girl!!

Hello Wade, I hope you are doing well and staying safe. This has nothing with what you are talking about, but I need your help. I used the UV Inhibitor with my 464 wax and while it was solidifying, it look like the FO and Wax separated. I had to use my heat gun the next day to fix the candles and I did not have this issue before. I added the UV Inhibitor to the wax at 185 degrees as well as the FO. Would you be able to talk about this on another video? Thanks Wade!!!
Hey Evelyn.... uv inhibitor should have not caused that at all. UV Inhibitor won't affect wax and fragrance oil. How much did you use just in case. 1/2tsp per pound is plenty. Usually FO and wax separating is because it wasn't hot enough when added or mixed well enough. OR.... thst oil is heavy and might not work well with 464
@@BlackTieBarn Hello Wade, I used 1/2 tsp for 20 oz of wax. My wax was 185 degrees. I appreciate your speedy response Wade. Thanks!!! I’m watching your video again about UV Inhibitor. Thank you again… Enjoy the rest of your day Wade!!! 😊
@@evelynrodriguez6337 no problen. the UV Inhibitor shouldn't be the cause at all (unless its bad? Never heard of bad UV Inhibitor though). I think this is more of an issue with the wax and the oil
I’m testing 6006 and am between Zinc and Premier (and *maybe* HTP) using the clear Libby Tumbler from CandleScience. I don’t think I’ve ever thought about it being “OK” to use at least 3 different wick types. I guess I always just kind of thought your brand needed to be 100% consistent across the board with wicks..... Huh. This is cool news to me!!
Enjoyed the review. I’m still wick testing and getting so overwhelmed, but you mentioned the wick tilting during burn. Do you know what causes that? I’m working with coco soy and CDN wicks. Thanks
@@BlackTieBarn ok thank you. I was wondering if it was because I was not securing the wick firmly before it cooled. Sometimes when in pull in the wick holders , the wicks tear apart.
@@angel_arabella you definitely want to stick your wick to the bottom before adding anything to the jar. Heating up the jar a bit will help too as the tackiness from a wicker sticker (for example) will stick better as well. But nope... the leaning is just from the melt pool becoming soft.
I do not, personally. LX is okay but I don't like the tall stalk it gets and mushroom. Plus been a little inconsistent for me. I'm not a fan of eco, the HT is fine but is with most wicks in 6006. But the eco just burns too hot and sooty for me. I'll only occasionally use it in larger jars
@@mikey3387 Well I mostly use Premier 700, HTP, and even some zinc core occasionally. Those have been my favorite, but its personal preference. We all tend to like different things. :)

The firm wax becomes liquid (melt pool so nothing to gold the wick straight up anymore. It just falls to one side.
