Nice! A little texture can go a long way when it comes to working with a knife, as we see here. A knife can also be used to skim away excess paint when textures build up to excess. We think Christina's use of the palette knife was just right, using the texture to support other contrasts and space within the painting. Lovely!
Thank you ❤️
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing your process.
Thanks Maura! ❤️
thank you for a great video. Coincidentally I am just working on a similar painting, I think I will try to use the palette knife to add more interest to mine!
Oh awesome! I hope it helps :)
i saw another thing this painting could have been. Before it was finished for a while the darkest green of the grass, it almost looked like you were making a dark green reflected lake. that was cool. the end is cool also. You make great things.
Oh cool! Yeah I love to watch paintings unfold and imagine the directions they might take.
It is indeed fun to watch. I am glad you post videos.@@christinakentart
Nice colours and process explanation. Would like to see your reference photo and your palette for a more informative context.
Thanks Linda!
Great video. I really like the marks and shapes you were able to get. Do you ever use other "scrappers" than palette knives? I have found that silicon bowl scrappers from Target and the fake credit cards you get in credit card junk mail applications make good scrapers.......those you can even cut, like on an angle to change the marks they make.
Thanks Doug! I haven’t used silicon scrappers but am gradually expanding my toolkit. I’ve used plastic cards too, they’re great!
thanks for your tutorials, I've watched them all ! What colours are in your pallette for this painting?
So glad you like them! In this painting I was using my go-to palette, which I share here: ua-cam.com/video/qoeAa0eAQR4/v-deo.htmlsi=ImPxFB7b9F9f3w_5
Great video! Also might be a silly question, but how do you secure the board in the middle like that?
Thank you! For the panels, I stick them to the board using mounting putty
