Congratulations! I have been selected to win my own prize in my own contest! Since I am the winner and the provider, I will award myself a new aquascape! :-D
Congrats I guess? 😂
@@MJAquascaping I think Charles is the perfect candidate for the beloved Thai micro crab ? The new home has been cycled and should be a win win ? For the sole surviving Thai micro crab & Mr. Hailey !!!! Sounds like a real winning scapers scape , with all the accouterments, plenty of good hides and I am sure that the 2 were meant to be together.
@@stoneysscapes7544 I bought a UNS 16T, a single piece of Siryu stone, some OOOA substrate, some Tropica lilieopsis and ludwigia, some Tropica Premium Nutrition and a gallon of RO water today. All planted and growing and maturing now. In about a month, MJ can send that crab over the Atlantic! Lol
@@MJAquascaping 😂😂😂 lucky man
Hello, I religiously watch all your videos. Coulf you explain to us one day how to make noCO2 nanotank without filaments. I tried twice and twice, they arrive the third week
Nano planted tanks are my favorite . Keep them coming.
As usual, excellent work and what's the best part of all your videos are that you don't have a secrets... you show us and tell us everything, like that part where you explained why you used a small filter for three days :)
Just keep going!
Its always a good day when you get to start it with a new MJ video. Cheers!
Beautiful tank for a beautiful shrimp
Nice idea bending the mesh with the moss attached to it! I never thought of doing that but it’s much easier, neater, and faster than gluing clumps of moss on the branches.
Beautiful little scape!
As you are planting, I like how you put up the plant specs on the screen. Very nice indeed !
These shrimps had been on my list, like many more things I want 😂
Great little scape and best part is you are very honest and open about the processes and progress of your scapes
Looks stunning!
This is great! Man huge fan. I kept fish when I was younger and I pushed that all aside for a decade or so. When I saw your no filter videos I was inspired once again and now have fish!! and 8 no filter set ups. Keep it up!! My next project is to get shrimps!
Beautiful tank MJ looks great
Funny you posted this! I just recently got my order of Crystals, very excited about watching grow and hoping they breed!
Wow, really simple but so so so striking…
Good job 👍👍👍
Beautyful work!
WOW! Amazing.
Brilliant! Awesome moss painting, will definately give it a bash!
Oh mark this is so fabulous I have a cube superfish sitting in the garage I am sure I can do what you have done, thank you for the inspiration keep up the good work my friend, have a fabulous day :)
Kolejny super czołg. Krewetki są piękne. Też uwielbiam te kolory 🤗
Marsilea has become my favorite foreground and carpet plant. I love the variation in the greens with a pop of a reddish color here and there. I think it’s such a cool little plant 🌱 I have the marsilea Angustifolia in my 10 gallon.
My Marsilea just hates life and does nothing but melt out to the roots 😭 the only plant I’ve struggled with so far. Absolutely gorgeous though
love this. I'm working on a 20 gallon long setup a lot like this. tons of plants but I will run some sponge filter with it. almost no filter.
Wonderful
I love the plants growing out of the top.
Me too!
Great shrimp tank 👍🏻
👍👍👍👍👍keep up the great work!!!
Exactly what I was looking for. Got my eyes on an aquarium same size as yours and I’ll be making it for red shrimp and shrimp only + snails. No filter or heater. I have leftover soil, gravel, and driftwood id like to use!
Like all your video.. Follower from Mauritius Island
Looks amazing! I really love the wood covered in moss. I need to do that in one of my tanks.
Make sure you really select a good moss. DO NOT use java moss it grows out of control and with no structure.
@@NNTorious I have Christmas moss and peacock moss in my tank. I did have java moss but found out the hard way it can be annoying... LOL
Your videos are amazing :)
Love the focus on just plants and wood for this one. Sometime can you talk about fertilizer for a no filter low tech nano :) Thanks for keep feeding us beautiful new scapes!
Will do!
very very nice 👍
I LOVE how you propped up the potted asparagus fern behind the aquarium. It makes a beautiful backdrop for the tank. I am assuming that the aquarium light is bright enough to keep the fern happy as well?
Beautiful lil scape as always Mark! I like the plant selection! Crazy it’s no filter, kind of 😂 I won’t tell! Any fish going in?
Hi. I love all of your videos. I have just set up a new 20l,filtered and heated nano cube. All my tanks use tap water, conditioned to get rid of chlorine etc. I have used aqua soil and it is now ready for shrimp. The parameters are PH 6.4, KH 0, nitrite0, ammonia 0 GH 5. The hard scape is dragon stone and wood. I was hoping to add some crystal reds but I note you have opted for RO water. What parameters have you set this to? Thanks again for great, informative tutorials
Thanks for rolling out so much content. I am really into these natural nano tanks and the "no filter" is a great angle. As always your video was well put together. I appreciate the work you do!
This tank looks good MJ. I glued with super glue (this happened a couple times) several plants, rocks and wood. About week later everything was no longer attached. Any ideas on what I did wrong? Thanks
Hi Mark weird but I did almost the same shrimp set up a few months ago with virtually the same wood and plants . Hope my findings are some use..shrimp find that type of wood too clean by that I mean little bio film builds upon it , they love bog wood instead. Be very careful with any water changes they are far more sensitive then fish. You mention about ro water, cristal red prefer soft water set up. If your water is hard guess you have no alternative though. Your set ups look fabulous as always and look forward to your next one.
It looks great, and you got a beautiful color on those stem plants! Thanks for letting us know that you cheated a little bit! I’m pretty sure nobody minds lol but it’s nice to know. I love those shrimp and I hope that they breed like crazy 🦐
Any tips on how to make a similar scape but without wood? I was looking into mountain rocks but they alter the water parameters unfortunately for crystal reds.
It looks amazing, as usual. But does de iron from the fissidens net affect the Walter parameters? I bought fissidens once like that but tried to take It off the iron net because I was scared It could affect muy cherry shrimp and finally didnt grow Up
Great looking set up. I set up a low tech Eco Bowl and I was getting cloudy and biofilm on top of the water so I ran a air stone and the water went clear. Not really cheating though right? just trying to make sure we're placing our aqua friends in a healthy environment :-)
If you were to put some small shoaling fish into here what would you go for? I'm trying to attain inspiration.
I have found that the tank does get cloudy but you have to stick to your guns and not touch it at all. You will start to see an improvement in water quality after a week or so. And easy on the fertilizer because that can also make your water cloudy. But again it will clear up after a week. This is just from my experience.
Spiderwood. 👍
👍
How do you keep the surface water from becoming stagnant?
What are the water peramerters for the shrimp?
Ho Ho love to watch
How are you heating the aquarium?
Now that it has been established and you have some shrimp, how often do you do water changes? Also, how much water do you exchange if you do any at all?
Hello! I love your shelf unit!! You may have answered this before, but can you share where you got it? Thanks!
here u go www.leenbakker.nl/kasten/boekenkasten/wandmeubel-kyan-zwart-naturel-180x120x40-cm
Hi MJ, do you find that it's best not to cap aquasoil with sand in a no filter setup?
@mjaquascaping Hi, im planning to set up a similar no filter low tech tank. I would like to know did the crystal breed and survived?
What is the name of the red plant used in the back of the aquarium?
Looks great! Is there a way to prevent the wood from turning black overtime where it is in contact with the soil?
Maybe by coating it with epoxy?
@@MJAquascaping good idea! I guess I'm the only one complaining about this lol. Keep up the great work!
Hello! do you use reverse osmosis for your aquariums? or just mains water?
Mostly tap water, but this one got RO
What is the tape called that your wrapped around that branch towards the end, to allow the moss to grow on it, please? I couldn't quite understand the word that you used for it. Thank you.
DOOA Terra tape :)
Can i use any super glue?
How did you add the amblystegium Serpens to the terra tape? Was it a moss “paste” or did you tie it?
I basically just layed it on top of it
Is the soil just aqua soil correct? You used the old aquasoil and capped it with new aquasoil ?
Also do shrimp need a airstone?
can we have an update to all of your tanks?
it was so good looking,m so bad you took it down
11:06 Is that bolbitis heudelotii , By the way nice video 💚
Yeah it is!
Nice Job . Are they still alive?
I know you said you're done with experiments for a minute, but I noticed I have a lot more female Endler's, than males. I'm wondering if there's a way I can change it. I haven't done any research yet, I just thought of this, and this is my hot take. But, I turned the temp down on their tank a little to about 24° from 26°. Not a huge change, but we'll see. What do you think about testing the hypothesis that temp will effect gender of the fry.
Can anyone describe the difference between Marsilea hirsuta and Marsilea crenata? Is M. crenata just the smaller version, or what's the difference?
I am planning to use these two combined in a low tech nano scape. Do they both get along without CO2?
Yeah M. crenata is much smaller. I actually haven't tried it without CO2 yet
Can we have a big shallow update please?
Soon!
Hi! Where do you usually buy your shrimps? I'm setting up a tank for neocaridina's, and I'm looking for blue ones (blue dream or velvet)
Are you from the Netherlands? My local fish shop is Heems in Heemstede. They have an amazing shrimp selection. Definitely got the blue ones as well
@@MJAquascaping Yesss Nederland haha! Thanks, ik ga er een keer langs!
Mooie aflevering! Waar bestel jij je planten in NL?
Meestal krijg ik mijn planten gesponsored via Dennerle plants. Als ik ze zelf koop dan meestal bij aquarium-planten.com
I've never had much luck with crystal reds
Me neither... fingers crossed this time will be different.
What's the tanks dimensions?
Regarding Shrimp, how do you manage to keep neocaridina in high tech setups?.. I am currently struggling with my neocaridinas in my high tech tank... I lost 2 of them after adding about 1 week ago and I am starting to get really worried... The main culprit are the PH fluctuations. When CO2 is done at the end of the day, I get a PH of about 6.5 while when it just starts, the PH is around 7-7.5. How can I ensure the survival of my little Neo's in High tech tanks?.. What is the optimal PH variation I need to be looking for?
I never have issues with neo's in high or low tech setups. I think they can handle the ph fluctuations just fine. I do think it is important to have a slightly higher kh and gh, just so they can mold easily
Do these shrimp need a heater? Because I don't see one.
I think they are ok on room temp
It’s decided then! I’m making a filter less setup. I just yesterday setup a nano aquarium (I guess it’s not that nano, since it’s 30 L) and I couldn’t stand the filter at night, so I’m gonna cheat the system! I guess I can still run the filter for some hours every day, just to help it before it develops enough to have fish. I’m really looking forward to putting some blue diamond and crystal red shrimp and a small school of tetras! It’s gonna look so cool I imagine
Size of tank please 😅
You kno 😂
Maybe I missed it but is it tapwater?
RO 😊
What’s the plant behind the aquarium ?
That`s an Asparagus species, I am guessing A. setaceus. Quite popular house plant for shady locations :)
@@flongardwirrsinn696 Thanks
First🎉
I'm pretty sure they bury themselves in the substrate so you might have had a few more...
Mark, if the stem plants (hygrophila) grow out they get free water roots.
This doesnt look good. 🥴
The microcrabs prolly climbed out of the tank
are you sure youre not tom wlaschiha?
😁
@@MJAquascaping complimen by the way :$
I'n afraid no filter tanks only look nice for the thumbnail
Super AGGRESSIVE CRS here. She kills all other Crystal Reds except one of her original sisters. Twice this year, I put 10 more in the tank each time… and within 2 months she and her sister were the only survivors. I say she’s agrees because I see her mount and tear into the carapace of the newbies.
