      Nice. I've been a fan since 79 but got a chance to see them when I moved to Las Vegas and bought tickets to Judas Priest with Iron Maiden. F-n amazing. The Aladdin Theater for performing arts which is no more. Hotel is gone. Priest opened for Iron Maiden but what an amazing moment in history for a 16 year old.

    It's really baffling,that Epiphone can make a Flying V,with high end aftermarket pickups,real ebony fingerboard,quality hardware and a great,classic look,for around a grand and Gibson makes a piece of crap,like that ''Modern Flying V'',with crappy stock pickups,Richlite fretboard and not to mention one of the ugliest shapes ever conceived and tries to sell it for 5,000 USD.

      the price of a guitar depends on how much money was spent making it. gibson probably mishandled their funds

    • @greekfreak1980
      @greekfreak1980 6 років тому +2

      Has nothing to do with funds,but with pure greed from Gibson and the dealers who want to make also a big profit margin.Also,with taxes and wages of the workers,that's why ESP stopped their ''Standart Series'',which was made in Japan and produces mostly LTD Series,made in S.Korea or Indonesia.Apparently,making guitars in Japan is too expensive,nowadays.
      The thing is,Gibson could make reasonable priced,Made in USA guitars,they just don't give a shit,because people are still buying their overpriced coffeetables.

      He does have a custom Gibson V but he also uses a custom built V by another guy and I wish i could tell you his name. Richie mentioned him and that guitar in another video but yes. He does use his custom Gibson, He does use This Epiphone V and he also uses that totally custom built V from that other guy.

    • @theavitaravitar1884
      @theavitaravitar1884 6 років тому +1

      celicharvel. I own one. The wood is Mahogany. Better looking guitar than it plays. The Floyd Rose they use is one of those mass produced cheap kind. Everytime you bend it feels like your scraping your fingernails against a black board, and a couple of other things, but i won't bore you. You get a bunch of goodies with it, but with a gig bag. I absolutely fell in love with the looks, though. Too bad. Im trading mine in for a real Gibson Flying V. The 98V is on sale right now.

    • @vanguitar3573
      @vanguitar3573 6 років тому +1

      Barry Growler if he plays one , his will be totally different that the one you get in the store.
      Rockstars have their guitars ghostbuilt by people who will replicate the look of the production model but handmake the guitars, with the highest attention for details and impeccable fretwork, different hardware and electronics, etc..

    • @JROC2112
      @JROC2112 6 років тому +1

      So what you are saying is that Richie's guitar is better spec than this and for the price this one with its plastic fascia and single volume and Matt finish neck isn't really all that good?

    • @vanguitar3573
      @vanguitar3573 6 років тому +1

      Barry Growler no I’m not saying it’s not good, it’s an Epiphone, they are pretty good guitars! And also they collaborated with Ritchie to design it.
      But Ritchie Faulkner probably doesn’t play an off the shelf epiphone on stage. His is probably ghostbuilt by the Gibson custom shop or some other good luthiers.

    • @michaelbodine7729
      @michaelbodine7729 6 років тому

      VanGuitar it's all the same shit. The only thing that might be different is the setup. Like he probably adjusts the action and shit like that to fit his playing vs the standard player

    • @vanguitar3573
      @vanguitar3573 6 років тому

      Michael Bodine maybe , some guys are not picky. But if it was me I would want a true luthier to fret my guitar in stainless steel for durability on tour (not the chain worker in China) and I would want it plekked. I would also want a German Floyd and select woods , not the regular Chinese epiphone wood cuts. But I don’t know the guy, maybe he likes his off the shelf epiphone better than a custom made replica.

  • @Metalshreder777
    @Metalshreder777 6 років тому +2

    The guitar is only as good as the guy playing it. For the most part, it doesn`t matter if it`s a $200 dollar or a $2000 piece. I have see cheap axes with pickups changed out and hot rodded that will go toe to toe with a lot of hi priced guitars out there. May not be the best quality but it really depends on what you want out of it. As for the Epiphone, a players piece at a decent price.

    • @gregg4164
      @gregg4164 5 років тому

      Yeah, I have a total of 4 Epiphones now. 3 basses and the 84 Explorer with the EMG pickups in it. That is a great guitar and I love my Epi basses just as much as my high end Spector bass.

    Epiphone do appear to be much more consistent than Gibson. If Epiphone have the same headstock as their Gibson counterparts on Flying Vs and Explorers, why can't they do the same with their Les Pauls and SGs? Just silly, can't think of another guitar company that does that with their more affordable range of guitars.

    • @gregg4164
      @gregg4164 5 років тому

      Because Gibson will not license them to use it. They know that Epiphone would kill the sales of real Gibson LP's and SG's if they did. The higher end models from Epiphone are damned near every bit as good as real Gibsons just made over seas and for quite a bit less money.
      That is the reason. Not that they wouldn't, it is just that they can't by law.
