- Bound buttonholes are a great way to add a clean, professional finish to your sewing projects. They are commonly used in coats and jackets, and can also add a nice touch to tailored garments such as the corduroy dress I made a couple of weeks back.
In this step-by-step sewing tutorial, I go through everything you need to know to sew perfect bound buttonholes for your sewing project:
Finding where to place your bound buttonholes
Sewing the bound buttonholes on the right side of the garment
Making buttonholes on the facing of the garment
At the end of the video, I also discuss some modifications in the approach to sewing bound buttonholes to tailor to different sewing projects, fabric, and buttons.

Ok, if I could give u 100 thumbs up for this tutorial, I would!
Great tutorial! I almost fell off my chair when I saw your vintage jumper pattern -- my Mother gave me her old patterns many years ago and it is the same one. And she also made her girls (there were 4 of us) jumpers each year for school and this was one of them. I love your bound buttonhole application - it really adds a well finished touch. Thank you for sharing this and giving me a trip down memory lane too.🙂
great clear presentation, I really enjoy how unusual the corduroy dress is. thank you for all the effort in making these good detail shots of pinning and scissor work.
Glad to hear that you like my presentation!! 💖💖💖

Awesome and easy to follow
I would like to add bound buttonholes to my quilted coat. Obviously there is no facing....how would I finish the wrong side of buttonhole to make it look nice??
I'm not sure if that's going to work. Like you said, there's no facing... I have seen snap buttons on quilt coats so maybe that's an alternative you could consider? :)
I never want to hear the word BUTTONHOLE again. 😂
Omg I felt the same about never wanting to HEAR MYSELF say the word buttonhole again after editing this video 😅😂💗
