This is the business! Thank you for this video. I got the levo to make cookies, but recently pivoted away to get a "healthier" option. I just finished my first small batch of tincure. I made this THC:CBD combo with the double pods and some Everclear 120. One cup filled about 1/2 a ketchup squirt bottle, which I used to fill the bottle with the eyedropper. Just tried it now in water and there was no aftertaste or anything. Hopefully it's strong enough to knock out that pain. If so, I was able to make about 5 small bottles from the one run which cost me less than $10/bottle to make. Great stuff, again! Thanks, BDK.

Thanks for sharing. It is legal to grow here in CA, therefore I al growing for the first time. I am cultivating medical grade for family members with chronic pain. I am trying to figure out how much tincture equals a 10mg gummy, like you would buy at the dispensary? I may or may not do butter or baked goods. Trying to focus on the ayuvedic medicine aspect.
@@alfonsoalmendariz3325 In case your still wondering, itll be very difficult to use measure THC % of an infusion with homegrown bud. That would require you send some of the bud or the infusion itself to a lab to be tested. If you buy your bud, and know the thc % of the bud going into the infusion, then you can do the math. For example, if someone made tincture with 3.5 grams of 25% thc bud, then their infusion would at most have .875 (3.5x.25) grams of THC. Don't expect it to actually have that much THC though because it'd be hard to actually extract 100% of it from the bud.
The best advise I can give if you'd like to make the equivalent of a 10 mg gummy is to try a lab tested gummy and try to match its potency with your own gummy. It'd take a good bit of trial and error - so its not actually a good recommendation. But my buddy has a decent sized grow operation and he makes pounds of butter a year for himself and friends. When he measures their potency, he does it in comparison to his other infusions, not by store bought stuff. so hell rank a jar of butter from 1-10 (they usually fall around 7) and that's how he keeps track of potency.

While I do believe this method works, keep in mind alcohol is a solvent. If there are rubber O rings or certain plasitcs alcohol will slowly eat at them and that is also going into your tincture. In addition to lessening the life span on your Levo2. If it was less expensive I wouldnt care but its not cheap. Do wat you will. Stay happy allz!

yup this video i saw about a year ago or so and this is how i learned aswell just be careful with the pods bc it will eat away at the plastics watch good eats video on potency hack and make tincture like that it’s more safe and also becareful bc if the machine has a leak and alcohol gets in the heating element it will catch on fire that doesn’t mean you should panic tho it’s not likely that’ll happen but just in case im lyk

I was curious as to the reasoning behind this and I reached out to Levo and they provided an extremely helpful and detailed response and I wanted to share it with everyone in case anyone else was wondering the same thing.
“Thanks for reaching out with your question! LEVO is designed for infusing oil, butter or glycerin. It is not recommended for use with grain alcohol, tinctures, vape oils, etc.
Many of these substances have a boiling point of 172.9ºF at sea level, which is much lower than LEVO’s maximum temperature setting. This poses a risk of fire or electric shock, should your ingredients reach their boiling point and catch on fire or leak inside of the machine.
Should you still like to infuse with a prohibited substance, please be very aware of the potential risks and take extreme caution as we cannot verify the ingredients will be safe for use with LEVO products. You warranty will be void if the machine is damaged due to using prohibited ingredients.

For tinctures ya need the source turbo
The current one says they don’t recommend it but we had found a recipe from sometime ago off a LĒVO site that listed a recipe and instructions. 🤷🏽♀️ My opinion is they probably don’t recommend it now because someone didn’t do their research on alcohol and the temperature it burns at ..etc. and either caught their machine or fire /injured themselves.

When I got my Levo II I used it for alcohol tincture & it stripped some of the paint off the top surface around the seal. Phone calls to the retailer in town where I bought it & emails, calls from Levo eventually got me a new one. Guess I'll stick to the Magic Butter wanna-be STX Infusium 420 for alcohol based tinctures and put up with the sound of it mixing every min +/-.

I believe the levo website specifically says not to use it with alcohol, but if it actually is working without damaging the machine that's even more reason for me to pick one up. Thanks for testing it out
Im wondering the same but I don't think it's a matter of damaging the machine but rather the flammability of alcohol.
The damage probably won't be apparant the first few times alcohol is used, but I suspect that after a while you'll see more detoriation of components and seals. You might have to buy a new machine every few months. Why bother though when you can make perfectly good tinctures at room temperature in a mason jar?

Hello from the Colorado Rocky Mountains! First time viewer. Could you please tell us, the potency of the final product? Have you tried other small batches using more or less flower? Anxiously awaiting...as I'm going to try this....and it's totally safe using the Everclear? lol...Guud Lawd....
The manufacturer is probably well aware of the fire danger associated with using pure grain alcohol. You could also just decarb your bud and soak for 2 weeks in everclear. The reduction is because 25% of your alcohol has evaporated.
I just got a Levo II and was reading the instructions, it does say making a tincture is not suggested but if using it to make a tincture, use the lowest heat seating and the longest infuse time. No where in there do they say "no don't do it" they just let you know there is a risk if you do a tincture and use a hot temperature.
How does this work after soaking for 2 weeks? Good yield? I had no idea you could just let it soak. Can it soak in the fridge?
@tyb02340 I soak all my herbs for 4 to 6 weeks for a tincture. I use regular herbs as well for medicine. You can also use vinegar for a tincture it just only shelf stable for a year. But we use ours so I'm gonna try vinegar first.
Does this actually work?
At those high temps, you're going to extract even more compounds that are less soluble in alcohol, like chlorophyl and other water soluble substances in the herb. It's going to make it more green and taste worse. I would find another way to decarb and then extract with FROZEN alcohol, which will be slow to absorb the good stuff, but won't absorb any chlorophyl at all no matter how long you soak it. I leave mine to soak in the freezer for about a week. At room temp it would only take 3 mins, but you'd also get a green bad tasting result, if you do it with everything freezing the whole time, you get a beautiful amber color.

I use tincture now from the medical dispensary for my multiple autoimmune diseases. I just bought a levo about 2 weeks ago and got one bud from the dispensary to try it out. Still unsure if I am going to make some chocolate bars or tincture. My question is why are you using everclear? Does it bind better than some other oils? I have read about using virgin olive oil. Going to have to do something this weekend because my pain levels are through the roof right now for some reason and I can barely get out of bed.

It can be done. However Levo doesn't support alcohol tinctures. Only time an issue would come up is if something happens or you are trying to get it replaced due to some malfunction under warranty and might have it voided due to improper use if they suspect anything off. If you do have to send it in then make sure you clean everything off with no trace of an alcohol smell. If not then just go buy another Levo.

That was my question. For folks in CA for example that have had 10mg infused drinks or 10mg gummies for sleep, how much of the tincture that was made equals a 10mg gummy, for example?
10mg gummies do not equal 10mg of flower. 10mg POTENCY gummies have 10mg POTENCY of cbd or thc in them.
Depends on the thc %age of flower used, specific gravity of the liquid it’s going into, and what else is being added.
I’ve never made tincture. I’ve been using my LĒVO to infuse gummies with infused coconut oil, they’ve been fine some separating in the beginning but I’ve figured that out, I want to try tincture for the gummies, I’ve never done tincture im confused on the alcohol part? Does the alcohol burn off during infusion so you’re not “ drunk” when taking gummies. Clearly I n is a single gummy isn’t “ getting you drunk” my concern is when you take the gummy are you taking in alcohol as well?

Usually for gummies MTC Oil is being used. This machine is amazing the longer you go the more you're changing your ingredients THC content more likely to CBN. I've also been told the longer you go the lower the temperature you can keep your active ingredient

My manual for the L2 says not to use any alchohol. I personally wouldn't use this method to make a tincture, mainly because heat tends to evaporate the alchohol. The alchohol is needed as the solvent to break down the plant matter over time in order to excrete the healing constituents and properties. After which a ratio of distilled water is added to the concentrated tincture to lower the alchohol content. Just things to keep in mind.

The manual of the LĒVO 2 says not to use alcohol as it can cause a fire.
A lower temperature will result in a greater return. Heat really isn't required to infuse alcohol like it is for fats.
What temp would u reccommend
So a question about the Levo. How much herb can be put in the pod? The video uses an eighth for 1 cup. Now, I currently use the MB & I’d like to have the Levo for small batches, but when I make tincture I’m using an oz to 2 cups of everclear. Ideally, I’d use a half oz for a cup, but looking at the pod, it doesn’t look possible. I’d appreciate any feedback.
