Zappa Books, Magazines, and More! Most Of My Collection.

- Being an avid collector of Frank Zappa's music since 1974, I have accumulated a large number of books, magazines and other ephemera to more fully enrich my life with Zappa sounds, words, ideas, visions and entertainment! This video is an incomplete collection of those things, because I know I have more of these around the house and I still have a lot more to get!

Hey Bill..love this video..A big Zappa fan too and love reading any book I can get my hands on…. You showed a few Iwasnt familiar with..so thank you👍.great video..glen
Thanks for the shout out, Bill!
Hi Bill! Lots of nice memories there. One of the most unusual "books" in my own collection is a photocopied script for Captain Beefheart Vs. the Grunt People (published by something called Screenplay Pipeline) which I found at a bookstore in Portland, OR when I was there specifically for a Zappa tribute concert.
Now THAT is an impressive collection, Bill. I am only a mild fan at five or six Zappa/Zappa related books. The "My Life with Frank Zappa" by Pauline Butcher was good (and I didn't see it in this video).
Holy Moly! I hung out with Den Simms quite a bit.
Agree 100% about Ben Watson and his "effort".
Cool. Ever thought about doing a Zappa bootleg vid? You must have a ton and it would be great to get your insights on them.
I do not have too fond of an opinion of bootleg records, even though I do have some. There definitely will be a video made, I just don't know when.
Great idea for a video! According to Frank himself (in his foreword) the only Frank Zappa book you'll ever need is the Real Frank Zappa Book.
But then again, he would say that, wouldn't he? Being the man in control and everything.
However, I think Frank underestimated the value of having objective books written about his work, and as you've demonstrated in this video,
there's a LOT of worthy tomes to add to any Zappa fan's collection!
I'm personally not particularly interested in Zappa biographies, but I do have the Real Frank Zappa Book and the Big Note (which is fucking fantastic).
And now, thanks to you, Bill, I will be spending the foreseeable future importing expensive copies of out of print gems and perhaps also hunting
down dusty Zappa scrolls in shady places of various levels of respectability. 😁
Uh...you're welcome? Thanks for watching, as always.
Again I’m always glued to anything you offer about Zappa. I surprisingly have many of the books. Question on cd’s Frank Zappa’s Road Tapes, and The Crux of The Biscuit they both display on the spine as issue 102??
Typographical errors, I guess. The correct sequence is as follows:
102. ROXY - The Movie - 2015-10-31
103. Road Tapes, Venue #3 - 2016-03-26
104. The Crux Of The Biscuit - 2016-07-15
@@BillsBoxOfSound again you’re on the Zap
Thanks for sharing. How can we find your interviews with Frank online? I’d love to check them out!

Back when I did a bit more freelance writing than I do today.
@@BillsBoxOfSound thanks a lot Bill!!!
Conspicuously absent is Frank's first book, Them or Us The Book.
I have it somewhere…

Phew! I thought that anybody who has THAT much cool stuff and DOESN'T have the first "real" Frank Zappa book is missing something.
Where’s Frank & Co? The Big Note, I think the author is a Canuck. 🤔
