    As someone who is looking into getting into singing professionally, this is so helpful, your channel is amazing. I don’t have the money for a vocal coach currently, and I haven’t had one in the past, but I’ve always performed. I could always manage to sound good most of the time, but I always knew I wasn’t doing it healthily. Your channel totally helps! I’m definitely a very tight singer, I push too much and I don’t relax enough

    Yes! I tank up. Thanks for completing this concept for me: high notes require little air and tanking up is counterproductive. I have loads of air left over and then exactly what you say happens: I stack the tank, abs get tight and then I croak.

    50 years of singing professionally, but I had so many bad habits and ideas. Your videos are helping me to undue many poor approaches to singing. I have always thought that I had to tank up and sing loud all the time. Thanks again so much!!

    Update: I now fully understand "breathing and supporting for the phrase"
    Not wanting to "tank up" I was failing the long notes at the end of songs. Now I know that if there's a 12 or 16 count note, that it's okay to tank up. So now I'm not stacking on the short phrases and I am tanking up for long powerful endings.
    Thank you for mentioning the counts. I've started counting the phrases to get a good strategy on how my breathing needs to be regulated for the song.

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому +1

      I just want to tweak your description. I never use the phrase “tanking up” to mean a good thing. I would just focus on a larger volume breath for the big phrases. When I say “tanking up”, I mean over-breathing.

      @@Victoria-Victorious thank you for your feedback. I agree. I guess it's more like "big breath".

    This makes so much sense. I used to stack so much air it was like it got in the way of my voice and tone.

    Great video! I tend to overbreath a lot, leaving me with two bad choices sometimes: throw it out and breath again (which introduces/builds up tension and mess up the song's flow) or bet on having enough air for one more phrase hahahh
    I have a question: does breathing the right amount of air becomes "second nature" after properly training or is it a matter of studying a song and activelly "prepare" your breathing for it? I guess what I'm trying to understand is if breathing for singing is about muscle memory after a lot of training or is it an active preparation process by the singer for each song?
    Thank you for your awesome content!!

    • @Victoria-Victorious

      Eventually it becomes second nature. In the beginning stages, it takes more planning.

    Another great video - one of the best things I learned from this lady was about engagement of the lower abdominals likening it to blowing up a balloon. So now I keep a bag of balloons handy and start off blowing a few up each day before singing it really works wonders !

    If your program offers a large range of vocal exercises that the student can then tailor to their own specific needs, how does a student know what exercises would be the most beneficial for them without any professional feedback? What would you suggest?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому +1

      Besides the basic short and longer vocal workout with backing track, I give you tons of options for different vocal needs. For example, if your voice is weak, breathy, nasal; if you need to work on breath support; if your tongue or jaw are tight; if you want to sing different styles like pop, classical, country, etc. I explain the purpose of every exercise and how to do it.

      Ew, I just recorded my face while singing. I look so ugly when I open my mouth. It was traumatizing. I think I'm going to go back to silence. I can't sing with these crooked teeth and this horrible long face. It just looks terrible. Maybe I'll try again if I ever get my teeth fixed. I appreciate all your help through these videos, though. It's been great advice.

    Thank you for this video! I have a question. I am learning to use my diaphragm/midsection muscles rather than my throat muscles for singing. However, I am finding that I am going off pitch a lot more and I have back pain because I have poor posture and this gets in the way of proper breath support. Do you think this is what is causing my recent pitchiness, and how do I fix it?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому +2

      It is impossible to tell without seeing and hearing you, but perhaps you are overdoing the inhalation and over-supporting.

    Do I need to take in a larger amount of air when singing on a higher than a lower scale? Or, do I need to have more breath management support and vocal track placement?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому +1

      It depends on what you are singing, but generally, high notes take less air and more breath support. See my playlist: Singing High Notes - EASIER, SOLID & MORE EXCITING! ua-cam.com/play/PLaWjWxiTysDDcjU4lWBKrhNlR1o2hCFmM.html

    One quick question, what about yawning while singing? Is that a problem with Breath control as well?

    • @Victoria-Victorious
      @Victoria-Victorious  2 роки тому

      That typically goes away too after you learn how to breathe properly for singing. Make sure you are not taking in too much air and not over-opening.

    My vocal teacher in the past make me breathing like elephant she always telling me while vocalise to fuel my bonessss back muscles ribsss with air she’s mad and I have a small body so I end up with dramatic problem so if I inhale normal my belly becomes so big like I’m pregnant 🥺😤😩😔😟 I’m really upset and I left her classes at all .
