For that price I would’ve expected them to go for cmf styled minifigures, they aren’t bad for sure but at least I would’ve been happy paying the extra price.
0:17 It’s even worse when you compare it to the same price bracket from 2014 (the bracket that the previous previous version of Anakin’s interceptor fell into at $25) which is only like $33 adjusted for inflation.
Dawg you're at least a decade late on getting any ships for $25. Only non licensed themes will be that price. If you're that salty on the price point, I'd recommend going with Mega or knockoff brands
Ryan i gotta hand it to ya, this is your best review in some time, and the ARC-170, mostly because of the side-by-side reference pictures of the actual thing, which is a rare thing these days, and your more lower tone chill-laid back commentary than usual, and the more in depth of the elements and closer look, I thoroughly enjoyed these especially, I really like your improvements on the videoes, hitting a new high each time, thanks for the content, looking forward to the next, cheers
Very fair review, but I actually preferred the old connection point for the wings, as it allowed you to make them horizontal. It was just an extra bit of playability that I liked as a kid.
They changed the cockpit piece so we’ll have a reason to buy Anakin’s and Obi-Wan’s interceptors again when they remake them so they’ll match with Ahsoka’s.
I see absolutely no reason for them changing the cockpit, because the other one was just better in every way, and now the set is grossly overpriced as well
To be honest, the old design is a bit more accurate but its bigger than the playscale size. I dont know for sure why they changed, but i dont think is bad, i kinda liked the visual
Wdym, he went over exactly that. The new design makes the back look better. The old one just kind of ended and then had a big ugly connecter joint on the back
This is the better of the 2 reviews you’ve made today. The attention to the missed opportunity for the green stripe was actually kinda impressive, wouldn’t have noticed that little detail unless you pointed it out. Although the best part was how you didn’t linger on it too long. The set being $45 is an absolute robbery, I would have bought it so fast if it wasn’t for that absurd price tag.
That windscreen piece looks more like yodas escape pod from kashyyk after order 66, could be another 2025 rots anniversary set but that would be pretty boring
That was $35, and was a very different kind of interceptor anyways. But that set was overpriced too. Since it is smaller than a normal interceptor, it should've been $25 or $30 (especially since it doesn't come with the extra figure)
@@PixelPieceProductions why would I be joking… I literally don’t have enough time some days to watch 2 9 minutes videos, and my memory is actually that bad sometimes
I have been waiting for you to receive this set and the ark 170 for review. I usually based my buys on what you say. I appreciate your hard work and it's nice to see the Little empire you have built.
So much for premium, im kinda of frustrated with how much Lego wants to charge for this set and the ARC 170, which I personally believe to be the most over priced set as of recent
The windscreen printing was my biggest concern when I saw the set announcement, even more so than the price since I wait for 20-30% discounts on just about all Lego anyway. So it’s just a given that stickers and prints are not going to ever match brick colors. Never gonna happen.
One thing nobody is talking about is how Ahsoka's lekku piece is so inaccurate. They bothered to print the little necklace chain on the top of her headpiece, which looks great, but they did not keep the green design for the teeth triangles and made it yellow instead...
Would love to see you do a competition for most overpriced sets… this one, greivous’s star fighter from a couple years ago (that was like $70 for 400 pcs), the sarlaac from this year, the buildable D-O… price per piece, price vs weight, other inclusions (printed pieces, minifigs, new molds, etc), and of course just feel in hand.
On the subject of this set being overpriced, I disagree with adjusting for inflation from the 2020 version because that set was ALSO overpriced compared to past versions. The 2005 and 2014 Interceptors were almost exactly the same price adjusted for inflation, and stretched to 2025 both come to around $32 - this set costs nearly 150% what it reasonably should.
So the old one is inflation adjusted about 37 and the new one has one Minifig and 50 pcs more then the last one, so price per part makes it 5$ for the additional parts and 3$ for the fig ... I mean that doesnt make it sound to bad ..... if you say that the last Anakins Jedi Interceptor was priced fairly at 30$ .
One other thing that I really dislike about this set are Ashoka’s eyes. I might actually put her old Clone Wars head that has pupils on the new body instead of using the pupil less head that she comes with.
Would have been cool to have seen an Anakin & Obiwan Intercept combo pack with some buzz droids for the Revenge of the Sith Anniversary. But that would make too much since. And They would probably charge like $100 for it...
The inflation adjusted price of the old interceptor is closer to $35, maybe $36 in the US. Additionally, that doesn't account for the fact that from 2020-2024 inflation of the US dollar was at record highs, that does not mean lego's production costs inflated the same (20% over 4 years), especially considering that all of their manufacturing is outside the US, when you're using the US inflation rates. For example, in Denmark the Denmark adjusted inflation cost (converted to USD) is $34.50 from 2020 to now. Realistically this set should and could have been no more than $40, $35 if lego cared about their consumers.
I got the Obi-Wan interceptor back in 2017 for about £30, which makes me worried and a bit mad just how much this set is being sold for. Not a fan of the new cockpit piece but I guess it’s fine.
I’ve not built it yet, and it may be due to the white piece below, but I would like to bring up the fact that the winglet stickers on the outside are an accurate white
Even official stores know that this price is not okay lol. There's a site here that has it for pre-order at €37 instead of the suggested €45. So no way in hell is anyone gonna be paying full retail price for this if they're smart
Honestly, it’s ridiculous that Lego keeps overpricing several of their sets so often when Hasbro’s Transformers is able to constantly price their figures appropriately.
Lets be real: the front of the cockpit is attached to the canopy for stability, previous versions had a single stud they could attach with, the extra strength is probably worth the inaccuracy
I mean it's my opinion, but they had THE perfect cockpit... not only will it not match now with the rest of the interceptors, but it also looks bad (or at the very least, worse than the previous)
The front of the cockpit looks super easy to modify. I am concerned that I even have to think about modifying sets now to be more like the source material 😬😂
2014 Anakin's interceptor is the best jedi interceptor. All other sets have been a regression since. Mainly because its the last one that had the see through holes in the wings, and it actually has a nice interior with room for his saber. Also, I saw render of this with the old cockpit piece vs the in universe material, the old one does look so much better. I really wanted to like this set, hope someone makes a good custom version soon
I just got Anakins in a trade without the fig so getting him in this is actually great. Also can you fix the windscreen front piece by switching the connection
That windscreen is objectively worse. It's very inaccurate. The original one actually matches the shape of the windscreen perfectly. (Or as perfectly as you can in LEGO) With the new one, cockpit rounds off in the back. The Eta-2 is blunt on the back.
Nice set but you're absolutely right. That price is ABSURD!! Are they trying to make people run away from the hobby??
Just pushing more and more people over to Mega for cheaper sets with no stickers
Yeah it so overpriced @scottdavis_34
All I got this year was the new Ashoka Jedi shuttle I never got as a kid on discount but still was a lot
@ Nice!
Man it’s not even just the hobby, imagine the little kid asking they Momma or Daddy for this. They see the price and say no little Timmy
"overpriced" is no longer a shocking word to me if affiliating to modern lego release prices

If it’s +50% again for the next 5 years we would unironically be at $67.50…….
I’m scared of the prices

@@chobotongThat would be way too large. This size is actually pretty accurate.

the 2020 one was $30 to match that! it’s absurd inflation
@ $25 in 2014 only equates to less than $28 in August 2020-so it was outpacing inflation even then.
@@crazydog1750ah but you're not taking into account star wars inflation which increases regularly as Disney tries to make back that 4 billion.

Agreed, especially for these single pilot types; the pricing is garbage, even when adjusted for inflation.
Well some NECA figures are more expensive but they're far more detailed, to the point of being near-perfect. But they're also not hollow.

Remove the 1x2 jumper plates in the astromech socket and R7 sits lower in his socket making it a bit more authentic to the actual ship.
I think that “yellow” saber they gave Rey in the Christmas falcon diorama would be a good fit for ahsokas second saber being that yellowish green
I’m surprised he didn’t talk about how the heads on the mini figures have holes in the hole on top of ahsoka, Anakins and R7 heads
That would be a PERFECT 25€ set. Maybe when 30€ if we adjust with the inflation. But 45? Man lego is getting greedy….
5:58 Just noticed that the windscreen piece fell open when you had it upside down, does it not lock closed?
I’m shattered they’ve changed out the interceptors cockpit piece, the original one already looked so accurate.
In Belgium you can already pre-order it for €37. Arc-170 for €59.
I just realized the new cockpit piece would work really well for a B-wing.
I think they want to match the grey semicircle piece behind the cockpit rather than the white...which actually looks like it works
