Cool! I love Cadfael. Both show and books.

Cadfael is a brilliant BBC TV show, and I've heard the books it follows are great, too. The show reminds me of a comfy mystery version of The Name of the Rose.

I never ask for back to back Gaiman content in the hopes that it will just be given to me on a platter. Interested to all the books you will hate and the oddball surprise you ended up loving.

Ah, Nashville. Where "No Shoes No Shirt No Service" is considered a hate crime.
'Joyland' is great. Maybe the best thing King has written of late.
Hold up... Is that Rupert Holmes of "The Pina Colada Song" fame?

Joylands a good pick, pretty underrated King book.
One a year is a good pace for King. It’ll insure you have at least one spooky book for the next 60 odd years haha

I just finished The River We Remember! It's a mystery novel that centers on a community and their relationship with the land and war. Unsure if you've read Krueger, but I loved it!

Haha I had this same issue with BOTM where suddenly I just added too many last month…
I’m excited to see what you end up reading in your wrap up. I always have a way too long October spooky TBR, based on me irrationally saving literally everything spooky for October

I don’t go out of the way to put spooky season books on my TBR, but by happenstance I’ve read The Burning Girls by CJ Tudor, Our Share of Night by Mariana Enriquez and I’m currently reading Starling House by Alix E. Harrow. They all fit the vibe and I’d recommend them, even though none of them are new personal favorites.

(I don't think Starling House has spooky season vibes. It just feels like a regular Fantasy to me. The cover gives spooky vibes but the contents didn't at all.)

@@MeMyshelfAndI Fair enough but it has a mysterious/demonic house. I haven’t finished it yet. I just thought it had gothic mystery vibes.

lol, oh no. Murder Your Employer is one of my worst books of the year (though I'm minority opinion, I guess)
    1. It has nothing to do with murdering your employer (only the MC is in this situation and not even his employer -just his manager- and _also_ it's not even for reasons related to being his manager)
    2. The world-building of their assassin school makes zero sense
    3. It is painfully cishet in the these-two-characters-will-end-up-together-because-one's-a-man-and-one's-a-woman-and-they-have-proximity way
I also think it was trying to be funny by just like... juxtaposition?
But I read Fantasy. I've read tons of assassin schools. There's nothing new or cheeky here.
